Physical Description: Kai is mostly humanoid, with sharp teeth and dark hands ending in clawed fingers. She has interior eyelids to the left and right of her mostly black eyes, invisible unless they blinked. Blue line-like patterns appear on her face which, to hear her tell, signify the falling of snow on the mountains in which she was born. She has sharp spikes which run along her spine which can become rigid when she's angry or startled. She can affect technology and become invisible (a faint outline can be seen when she moves [think Predator]) and her orange blood is starkly luminescent.

Personality: Kai is a being of instinct and spirituality as is common amongst her people. She does not tend towards violence but can become ferocious in the defence of her people (her crew is counted amongst her people). She is generally quiet and serious but amongst those she cares about she can be quite animated and the life of the party. She values life and the health and safety of those she is fond of, including their mental health and wellbeing. She practices a form of radical empathy, so she is logical with Vulcans and open and prone to laughter and emotion with humans. This may extend to other species when she meets and gets to know them. Meeting a group of Klingons could be...interesting.

Despite her rather prodigious intellect she is not arrogant and views herself as something of a teacher to those who need it. She never views herself as better or above others unless those others are ones she holds in contempt.

Character History: Kai is a distant relation of the first Xahean to make contact with the greater galaxy and Starfleet, Me Hani Ika Hali Ka Po. As such she is considered royalty but is quite far down the line of succession so her application to Starfleet was blessed by her family. As she is one of the very few Xaheans in Starfleet it was felt that she could only make ties between Xahea and the Federation stronger.

She graduated first in her class from the Kapikala Hale kula and, from there, made her application to Starfleet, again graduating first in her class. Her paper on algorithms to determine isomorphic structure in higher-dimensional manifolds is still being discussed in the Federation and the Vulcan Science Academy. When asked she merely shrugs and attributes her intelligence to her famous ancestor who she says was much smarter than she'll ever be.

Kai is a new officer so her accomplishments to date have been modest, but it is expected that she will have a bright future in Starfleet and bring honour to her family name and her world, an expectation she holds herself to.
