Cilda Zulaca

Name: Cilda Zulaca.

Rank: Dynasty. Owns Shardi.

Actual Age/Apparent Age: 35/20.

Gender: Female.

Race: Potion Golem (though the potion part is now depleted).

Description: Cilda is surprisingly human-looking for a construct, though she'd only be mistaken for an actual human at a casual glance. She resembles a slender young woman, with pale skin and long black hair. However, her joints are elaborate and mechanical, and her eyes glow slightly blue when she's active. There are thin lines along her skin where magically-joined components couldn't quite be smoothed into a semblance of flesh, most noticeably two trailing down beneath her eyes and curving diagonally to her ears. The inside of her mouth is also plain and doll-like, and she lacks a tongue entirely when she's not powered on, as it's formed from shaped water. This makes it very difficult for her to speak if her energy is low. Her inner body is mostly hollow, but due to her mechanical construction she's still considerably heavier than she looks. She tends to wear body-concealing clothing to hide her more unnatural aspects, such as gloves and sometimes even a cloth medical mask.

Abilities/Skills:
-Potion-Dispensing Construct: Cilda was originally built as an only slightly intelligent potion dispenser, meant to control the liquid in her reservoirs, usually in the form of healing potions on a battlefield. She both derives power from the liquid inside her and can animate that liquid in a short range around her. She's not much of a combatant herself though. While she's strong in terms of things like lifting power, a necessity at her weight, her mechanical body isn't good at translating that strength into striking power. She would also harm herself if she filled up with something dangerous. Her talent is meant more for dropping emergency healing potions into multiple mouths at once. Since she doesn't have any more of them and just fills up on water anymore, that part is more of a novelty, though it's useful for things like flushing out wounds. Her liquid reservoir is kept magically clean and purified, an important add-on for avoiding secondary infections from its medical use.

Cilda doesn't sleep, but she does have to drink a lot to make sure the water inside of her doesn't run out of natural magic entirely. She usually makes a trip to her family estate every few days to empty and refill herself with their voluminous cisterns. She prefers clean water, though since it's just a matter of taste since it gets magically purified anyways, she sometimes has to take what she can get.

-Doctor: Cilda has a good deal of medical training, including a formal education, and tries to expand her knowledge where possible. She feels a calling to be a healer, and had the family resources to pursue that calling from a young age. She has some (NPC) staffers but would be interested in hiring more, anything from another healer to a slave that just helped clean up could be useful.

History: Cilda was originally a nondescript magical curio, built for battlefield support just before the faraway war in question came to a sudden end and she was sold off as unnecessary. A traveling merchant brought her to Leera by wagon, where she was bought by Sanno and Polette Zulaca in hopes of assisting their very ill newborn son Hakir. Initially they planned on just cracking the golem open to get at the potion within, but soon found that it had a natural gift for administering its medicine and opted to use it as a nurse of sorts.

Hakir's condition was so severe that it took a year for the child to recover even with the best of care. Over that period, the golem's healing potion reserve was exhausted, and it ceased to function. It would have been simple to scrap it at this point, but toward the end of its functionality it seemed to be showing genuine concern for Hakir and helpfulness toward the family. Sanno and Polette felt the least they could do was fix up the golem, and after finding that it could run on water (albeit with less utility and longevity considering the relative lack of magic involved) they named it Cilda and kept it around. At first the golem was an obedient but simple-minded assistant, but as it slowly developed its own thoughts and personality, as well as continuing to help with Hakir, eventually Sanno and Polette decided to effectively adopt her. They also hired magical artisans to help her gain a more human form rather than the bluntly practical one she'd been built with.

Today, Cilda has a distinct mind of her own, having slowly developed a personality through her time around the other members of her household. She's formed a tight bond with her immediate family and is devoted to the Zulaca clan by extension. Hakir is now a healthy teenager, and is especially close to his big sister. Some of Cilda's extended family find her kind of disconcerting, but humor her parents anyways, and there's no denying that her medical abilities are useful to the dynasty. Indeed, she left her family for an extended period only once, to attend medical school, and now lives close to the family estate in her own clinic.

Culture: Cilda doesn't really have a "culture" to speak of, having only the vaguest memories of her brief time elsewhere. She learns human feelings and emotions over time, by observation, and is now experienced enough to be a slightly detached but still thinking and feeling being in her own right.

Due to caring for her then-fragile brother, Cilda places a high priority on cleanliness as a way of keeping disease at bay, despite not being able to get sick herself.

When interacting with others, especially those that she can command such as Zulaca family slaves, Cilda has an unusual personality trait: she's an other-focused sensate. She grasps things only after extensive experience seeing them in others. She's thus learned things like family loyalty and affection through observation, as well as more physical experiences like enjoying the taste of food, but she lacks the ability to simply guess how unfamiliar things "should" feel. Fortunately, the tendency is tempered by a naturally gentle demeanor; Cilda has no desire to hurt anyone through her observations. As a result, several slaves have odd but harmless tales of, say, being asked to smell a flower and then being watched intently by the adopted golem while they do so.

Sexual Orientation: Lesbian, dominant.
