Sorry for the newb question, but for attributes, the book says
quote:
Every character starts with a d4 in each of five attributes: Agility, Smarts, Spirit, Strength, and Vigor... You then have 5 points to increase your attributes. Raising a d4 to a d6, for example, costs 1 point.
What does "d4" mean? Do I start with a base 4 in each of those attributes then add points to whatever I'd like to raise? (But then how does adding a point to a d4 make it a d6? What happens when I add 2 points? Does it go to d8?)
Or, maybe the d4 is the die I need to roll for that attribute? Adding 1 point means I'd roll a d6 instead of a d4? And adding 2 points means I'd roll a d8 for it? So, if I add 2 points to, say, Agility, I'd roll a 1d8 for that attribute?
I'm coming from an ad&d background but I have played point buying systems before, so I get the concept. SWADE baffles me.
Unfortunately, savaged.us keeps crashing before I can register so I'm trying to go by the book.
