Vixl:
The Lord of Divine Words:
Prep R#1: Tarrahn casts barkskin on Fodor. (+1 AC/Saves for 8 rounds)
l'Atreq casts bless. (+1 to attack for 6 rounds)
Prep R#2: Tarrahn casts Irish twig (d4+1, +1 to hit, for 4 rounds)

Better for l'Atreq to cast in R#2. We gain one more round of use.
(Moot if Tarrahn forgoes shillelagh.)

Tarrahn- Interesting, but I don't think heat metal on our weapons is the best use.
Better to save it, and see if the opposition has weapons or armor.

Wouldn't be on our weapons.

Ha- yes, I posted that before I saw the in-game post, so thought it was all part of the preparatory talks. ^_^;
I was going to come back and delete after I realized my error, but got called away.

My apologies!

Edit: Maybe they have those metal bull nose-rings? ;)

Rusk:
07:48, Today: Rusk rolled 5 using 1d10+2.  Damage.</orange>

Rusk- these are large size creatures.
So you can roll 3d6 for damage for your two handed sword, plus your bonuses.

Re: OOC#2

A few notes about the combat round thus far:

Rusk, not that this matters, but your attack roll is d20+2 (+1 weapon and bless). And how often do you get to roll 3d6 for damage!

l'Atreq, a heavy flail is a two-handed weapon. You cannot wield it and a shield at the same time. Please choose one or the other.

Tomba, during melee, all combatants are considered to be aware of each other unless there is some manner of magical concealment such as invisibility. So, even if there were abundant shadows to be had (as you've requested), you wouldn't be able to hide in them during combat.

Vixl, enough already with your rules preferences. I am in the pre-contemplative stage of change. We will revisit this at the conclusion of Pharaoh at which time I will advance to the contemplative stage.

l'Atreq's sheet:
Armor/Protection          AC   Enc  Cost
----------------          --
Plate Mail                -7   20   15GP  (max movement = 60ft)
+1 Medium Shield          -2    5   10GP

Then, please update your sheet and let Fodor know about your new AC.

Re: OOC#2

Ahh, that is what the previous l'Atreq had on the sheet, I guess the shield is on his back, his AC fighting with the 2-handed weapon is 3. I fixed the AC on the background to 3. I need a heavy mace to fight one handed to use the shield. Sorry about all of the confusion.

Re: OOC#2

Oh, I should further note that hide in the shadows would have been a full-round action had it been available as an action. That is, you can't both hide in the shadows AND attack in the same round -- unless you're a ninja, I guess.

Updated my damage roll. It hadn’t registered with me that minotaurs were considered large creatures. Thanks for the correction.

Have we definitively established that Tomba isn’t a ninja?

Certainly not Rusk, he's a mystery.  A ninja halfling though, I'm liking the way you think.

To my mind I was leaning more on the being small and insignificant and hopefully overlooked as opposed to requesting shadows but same same and I expected no more than I got.

It was also me looking to see what I can get away with.  :o)

I've gamed ADND for 40 years and in all that time I've never played a halfling, and no thieves either.  If I play things dumb, it might be the character since he's a little simple, or it might just be me, whose gonna know.

That's too authentic to be parody.

But what's the connection to this encounter?

Re: OOC#2

It actually is a parody- of Drowning Pool's "Bodies" song. But very well done!

The connection is Tarrahn used a lyric from "Bodies" in his post ('Let the bodies hit the floor').

Re: OOC#2

Yah, yah, I saw that it was a parody but it resonated too much with me to be one.

Instead of I can't count to four...it's I can feel one thing, I can feel two things, I can feel three things, I can feel four things, I can feel no more --- my clients.

Yeah, I've heard the song on the radio. That one also resonates: "Nothing broken here."

Yeah, right.

"I cured Covid."

"I'm married to Mick Jagger."

"I won't go to the doctor because the last time, she sucked all of the babies out of me."

"My ghost dad tried to rape me last night."

Mental illness is real, folks. I should say real mental illness. A lot of the other stuff is dubious.

Re: OOC#2

I am quirky, not mentally ill. ;)

But on a more serious side, I have some friends with serious depression and other issues- one has not left her house in literally years due to her illness. Plus working with the Veteran's Administration also has let me see, to a small extent, the troubles that some people are suffering from. It's tragic, and I feel helpless. I really hope for more research, treatment, and funding.

Re: OOC#2

Tomba will check to see if the doors are locked but just turning/depressing the handle  and in the process he'll peer up the shaft to see if he can see anything above.

>>Unlocked.

I take it after climbing a wall, there'd be about 10 foot of flat overhead ceiling that would need to be traversed to get to the shaft before that could be climbed, if an attempt was to be made, is that about right?

>>Yeah, that's how'd I see it as well.

Tomba has iron spikes that might aid in the task, but are there any cracks or anything that would make climbing such a surface plausible, or would climbing be definitely out of the question, unless someone else has magic to use?

>>>Stonework + spikes = no. I can think of a way to transport Tomba up into the shaft where Tomba's own magic could be put to use. The attempt might involve a to hit roll, though. Catapult would be optional.

Re: OOC#2

For our purposes, currently, those doors don't matter. If you head through any of them, you can head south to find an area identical to the one to the east: three 10' by 10' rooms each with a heavy wooden door facing south.
