The Nexus (Caelum Realm)

The Nexus.

Home of the gods. It is a realm that is owned by none yet home to many.

Within the Nexus is a land of wonder that has existed since the beginning of Creation itself. Endless in scope, it is said to be ever growing in all directions making one who would seek to travel its entirety need to serve eternity to accomplish the task.

The realm follows a cycle of day much as the realms of mortals do yet their is no sun nor moon; the light simply dimming when the night arrives with the specks of light within the sky being the realms within Creation itself. When day comes, the light in the sky augments. Clouds do move about the realm bringing with them rain yet they are an after thought to most.

=================================

Realm Traits:

The realm is one made of Celestial energies that formed the realms themselves. Within the realm, all sentient beings can understand one anothers spoken language. Note that this does not apply to the written, or other types of non-verbal languages.

# of Provinces: None

The Nexus has seen all of eternity pass as its existence is linked to Creation itself. Thus ruins and other structures permeate the landscape if one looks for them. Places of note that can be viewed from the Juncture:

Flame Eternal: A rising stream of fire, the colors of which change with every passing second as it goes through the multitudes of color within Creation, as it rises from just above the ground in the distance and into the sky.

The Metropolis: More accurately, ruins of one. What must have been a vast and thriving metropolis now is but a set of remnants of an age gone by. Some areas seem in better shape than others though.

The Perpetuam: A river that flows between the Metropolis and the Juncture where you first arrived. It can be seen streaming from east to west, yet its flow is indistinct, seeming to flow in whatever direction one believes it to flow to.

The Stormlands: To the south can be seen the Stormlands, a vast stretch of lands that are covered with storm clouds that seem to rise up to the sky and touch the ground. Streaks of lightning can be seen arcing across it regularly.

The Fangs: A long stretch of mountains that can be viewed in the ease. They seem to reach out as if to bite the sky, their tall and triangular peaks looking like canines or fangs. The Perpetuam seems to flow to or from it yet it is hard to be sure from this distance.

The Nexus (Caelum Realm)

Your immersion into this realm was timed with your emergence from the other realms. Your body  took shape in the blink of an eye yet to you it was as if a century had passed as your body formed and your consciousness began to drift from the expanse of Creation into this vessel. Your mind was linked to the other selves that you had in the other realms and it was as if this was meant to be, to show you how you could exist here and elsewhere at the same time.

You knew what you were, who you were and why you were here yet at the same time this whole place was new.

In this realm, unlike the other two, you felt as if you belonged here yet were not OF here. No, your body may have formed here but your being was from Dakalnar.

As your being became solid, you saw that you were not alone. The others around you were unique and different than you yet you felt a certain commonality with them. You understood that the common thread you all shared was your place of birth: Dakalnar.

As you all looked to one another you noted that you had formed in a circle. Each of you stood facing one another in a circle with the area where you stood marked by your arrival:

- Kairos stood before you with the land around him strewn with a fog that hung around his feet, shimmers and shadows within the fog seeming to call to all around him that brought forth feelings of hope and inspiration for what was to come.

- Xeslin stood before you with the land around him sprouting flowers and plants of many colors and kinds, the gentle touch of creation in that which may not accept life being able to overcome such a task.

- Anastaria stood before you, the area around her shining with an inner glow as if the sun were at her feet. You could sense the warmth of this light and the knowledge that there was always a way, that there was hope to do better than what you thought possible.

- Talramirez stood before you, the land about him showing the growth of plants and small creatures as they sprouted to life. As these creatures took shape they began to work about him, minature beings forming what seemed to be a possible home for themselves before dissipating, a new form taking shape and growing from where the first had been. It was a cycle, life always flourishing where it needed to, finding a way.

- Elise stood before you, an aura flowing about her as you felt the passions of your own wants and desires come forth. You felt the possibilities of what you could accomplish and the need to see such things through to try and achieve all that you would wish to without hesitation.

- Ember stood before you, the giant form of the draconic deity looking down upon you all. The earth around him cracked and broke, the ravages of the destructive force he represented seeming to buckle under the weight he brought forth.

- Miritas stood before you, his robes flowing from him as if they were less clothes than a part of himself. His visage could not be seen within the hood, his form more shadow than physical form. The land about him seemed darker than possible, the air itself looking somewhat oily in its thickness. Whispers that brought chills even into your own divine beings could be sensed while looking upon him.

- Diamytron stood before you, his frame unimpressive in terms of striking fear as he stood with a lanky frame, standing well close to 7 feet tall. His eyes, never blinking, were also without pupils as the purple embers behind them gave a small sparkle as he looked upon you all, as if taking in all he could from what he saw. The land about him was clear, small whisps of light flowing about him as whispers that could not be understood were constantly speaking.

- Moritas stood before you, his frame being somewhat unimpressive as he stood before you wearing a simple gray tunic. His skin was pale gray while his hair was completely white. To contrast this were his eyes, a deep black set with red pupils that seemed to pulsate slighyly as he looked upon each of you. The land about him seemed to be turning to ash, the earth itself losing all that made it viable to life as it slowly spread from where he stood.

- Barion stood before you, his presence instilling some inspiration even to those who were not prone to combat. It was as if he inspired the want for battle yet also the feeling that you would win such a combat if you gave it your all. The physical prowess of Barion was impressive, the musculature perfect for his size in every way. He smiled as he looked to you all, one that was more of friendliness than anything else, which you felt bring a smile in return from you (even Moritas unable to resist). The land before his feet was of stone, unbreaking and strong, able to resist the strongest of blows.

You all looked to one another knowing this and as the seconds passed you saw that the ground around you returned to normal, the effects of your appearance and domains dissipating from the area.

The area around you was clear of anyone else, the hill top you had appeared upon allowing you to view the lands around you. Closest was the Perpetuam itself while slightly to the west was the Metropolis itself, the vast city sprawling across the landscape almost as much as you could see in that direction.

The rest of the area were off in the distance, needing some travel to get to.

The Nexus (Caelum Realm)

In reply to Overlord (msg # 2):

As Elise observed her divine siblings, and as they observed her in turn, she gave a nod of recognition and respect to each. Then her gaze swept their surroundings, taking in the vast land surrounding them, as well as the visible landmarks in the distance. Finally, her attention returned to those present, and she bowed in recognition and respect, although this time more to the gathered group than to any individual. Although her facial features were fuzzy and hard to discern, somehow her expression communicated a feeling of wry amusement.

"Happy birthday," she said to everyone present. Then she hummed a short little ditty quietly to herself, before looking around again. "Does anyone else Desire to find out why this place is?" Her gaze flicked toward the city in the distance, before returning to the group with a question unspoken.

The Nexus (Caelum Realm)

Looking deeply at each of her siblings with a warm and gentle cheer, Anastaria held a shining smile as she acknowledged all the other divines with respect. Returning and giving a nod of recognition to all equally.

Gazing about the realm around with a strong curiosity, Anastaria's eyes hummed with a brilliant gold as they sparkled with the reflection of creation's light. Wooshing her elongated tail around her form as its scales glittered, there was a sense of excitement and wonder across her form and face in an almost child-like manor.

Anastaria spoke with a gentle yet refined voice, "Indeed, a very merry birthing to us." Looking then to Elise, Anastaria gave a simple nod as she replied softly, "I desire to gleam upon all bathed in light and its shadow."

Looking up across the sunless skies, Anastaria fell into a throw of curiosity that she then shrugged off. "I say that we all return here in a year's time to share our recounts of existence. As well that we all agree to not work against one another, with no holding of animosity between us. Instead that we come together eventually with our efforts. "

Taking off then from the ground she stood, Anastaria's hooved and furred legs held a divine swiftness that could almost carry her through the light. Wafting behind as it trailed was her long deep black curly hair, fur, and fins. Slowing down just as she came infront of and beside the more ephemeral deity, Miritas. Bringing an arm up slowly as she tried to lock arms with who she considered to be her divine counter-part. Gazing up warmly with a soft smile at his darkened hood, not to see past the shadowy visage, but to reaffirm her good will. "Let us work together to bring the light and darkness, to protect and guide their children. I'll trust you to protect me as well, dear." Anastaria's words were spoke with a genuine friendliness and enthusiasm as she smiled warmly despite the chilled whispers.

Xeslin considered the world around him for a brief moment before turning his focus to those others who had manifested in the same place. His divine senses revealed to him their shared nature and in a fashion he supposed that made them kindred; of a kind. However he felt no great warmth or familiarity to these beings. Still two of them had already spoken to him, albeit not entirely directly, so he reciprocated.

"Happy Birthday to you all as well."

Then promises were made. Xeslin was new to existence but he quickly discovered something true about himself: he hated promises. Still, feeling as though he was suddenly trapped in a wicked web, he nodded in the affirmative.

"Of course. I will endeavor to do so and look forward to similar reciprocity."

Hoping to avoid binding himself any further to these strangers he gestured to the lands beyond. In particular the river that separated them from the ruins of the metropolis.

"I believe I'll go and investigate those ruins. Should I find a suitable means of crossing the river."

Xeslin moves to the Perpetuam.

Tal looked about to his siblings, as they were, giving each a nod of greeting in turn and offering a bit of a smile at the remark of their birthdays.

"A joyous time to find ourselves here to say the least. But I agree," he notes back to Anastaria regarding their return here, "I shall return here in a year's time so we can speak more. Its likely we'll all find ourselves crossing paths in this place at some point anyway. As for myself..." he notes, with a look into the distance, "I feel I must at least get a better look at the fire that burns within our sight. Such a wonder..." he muses, opting to head in the direction of the Eternal Flame for his initial trek into the Nexus; should any others opt for a similar path.

The Nexus (Caelum Realm)

The responses she got weren't exactly what she expected, but -- then again -- Elise wasn't entirely sure what she expected in the first place. She cocked her head in acknowledgement of Anastaria's proposal, and was going to follow Xeslin's progress down the hill toward the river -- but then Anastaria flashed forward toward her polar opposite, Miritas, and Elise watched with breathless anticipation to see what reaction the God of Darkness and Fear would have to this action from the Goddess of Light and Redemption. The two of them were paired in more ways than one, from Elise's perspective -- not only in that light and darkness opposed each other, but also in that the Passion of Fear was often conflicted with the Desire of Redemption.

Elise's gaze moved swiftly over the assembled Gods again. None appeared, at first blush, to be so clearly and obviously opposed to her own domains. She glanced to where Xeslin was receding into the distance, and then toward Talramirez as he similarly departed. Perhaps those Gods had the right idea.

"I too shall return in a year's time. Any who wish to investigate the city would be welcome to join me," she offered, but did not really expect a response. Instead, she set off toward the ruins of the once-massive Metropolis. If anyone did want to come along, they could probably catch up.

Kairos' lips quirked a smile at the acknowledgements his fellows made to their emergence into Creation, wondering what Dreams had caused such a coterie to be brought forth. For a few moments, he said nothing, let the others introduce themselves, watching their interplay, their purposes. His smile broadened, "Greetings, siblings, and well met. Happy birthing day"

His eyes watched Anastaria as she confronted - albeit politely - her opposite, and others drifted off. He would see what else transpired beore he picked his path

Miritas looked on and as Anastaria approached him he seemed to straighten slightly, his back and shoulders squaring up as she approached. Yet as they stood next to one another and Anastaria spoke her request, he seemed to eye her for a moment before a small smile broke his lips.

Agreed... sister. Let us work to aid the mortals in taking there place within our respective domains. Let us see them not fear either but embrace them as part of a whole.

Moritas looked on all of this, his mannerisms showing no sign of reaction. As two fo the deities left he watched them go before, without a word, he turned and began to make his way towards the Metropolis himself.

Diamytron watched the now three deities head off, turning to the others with a look of curiosity.

That was rude... I believe.

As Talramirez stated his want to look onto the Eternal Flame, Diamytron nodded.

I shall join you, if you accept.

Barion was about to tap Moritas on the shoulder in a "there there" type of way but hesitated as the God of Death walked past him without even offering him a glance. Smiling anyhow he looked onto the remaining gods present and clasped his hand, a small thunderclap heard from the action.

Well a Happy Birthday to all of us!

Looking at Ember he approached her, looking at her formidable size with not fear but a joyous look of a challenge to be overcome.

I would so enjoy taking YOU on one day, dear sister. But not today, not on such a joyous day.

Turning to look at the others he pointed to the Metropolis.

Anyone want to race me to the city?

The boyish excitement in his mannerisms was so off center with the rest of the group here that it was almost comical. The somber Moritas looked at Barion, shaking his head slightly.

Ember looked down upon her brothers and sisters as she tapped a massive talon against the floor beneath them, giving it some thought before her body shrunk and shifted into a more diminutive and amicable form, similarly draconian, but more humanoid, only about 9ft tall, rather than the 30ft of their draconic one, giving her siblings a small smile.

"Well, I suppose it's nice to meet you all, it's quite... interesting to see the variety of things that escaped from Creations Clutches" She gives a wider smile, showing off her metallic teeth as her talons gave a soft crackle from their destructive energy, before fading again, ember stretching a bit as she looked at the others

As she looked at her siblings leaving, having greeted them all in her Mariend form, she shifts back into her draconian one, spreading her large wings and taking to the air, her wingbeats creating powerful downdrafts as she hovers for a moment "I shall go join the others in exploring, such a place seems to have much to offer us" She grins as she starts to speed off through the air towards the Metropolis, flying at quite high speeds for something of her size.

As the rest of her siblings spoke or moved, some agreeing to her requests and others without a word on the matter, Anastaria seemed giddy either way.

When Miritas stiffened up at her approach, Anastaria made sure to be careful and reassuring. Yet when the soft smile broke on his lips and she heard his words, Anastaria closed her eyes briefly and smiled gleefully. "Wonderful, I look ever forward to it then my dear brother!"

When Diamytron spoke of Moritas's unspoken leave, Anastaria gave a shrug. In truth none of them owed each other any words or promises. If he would be impartial, then Anastaria would leave it at that.

Giggling lightly at Barion's motions and words, there was a boyish charm to it all. Witnessing Ember begin her early start flying in the direction Bariom posed his challenge.

Looking up to Miritas, Anastaria spoke lightly, "I have decided to go where you do, brother. However I would definitely like to race them." There was an almost child-like excitement at the idea. However she cared not entirely either way.

If Miritas agreed to that direction, Anastaria smiled brilliantly. Immediately taking off seriously in the same direction. Seeing how she compared to Ember and Bariom before deciding if she would step through the light or not.

Ember

Ember took her draconic form and took to the air. The others watched her fly off, her wings taking her high up into the air. She WAS quick for a creature her size but even as she took to the air she saw other creatures flying about, natural to this world it seemed, easily outpace her.

They were smaller so more nimble, she told herself, unwanting to admit she may not be as fast as she believed herself to be.

She flew over the Perpetuam with ease, seeing the calm water as it flowed in one direction across the landscape. Within the waters she saw the shapes of large creatures, perhaps twice to three times her own, moving under the waters slowly without care. The fact something that large could even exist made her wonder what else this realm held.

She almost did not notice the flock of creatures coming at her. They were small, perhaps half the size of a Mariend. 3 feet in length, they seemed to have wings that were translucent or moved very quickly as she had a hard time seeing them. They darted about, like mosquitos, about two dozen of them. They seemed fragile enough compared to her but their numbers may prove an issue as their size, and flight patterns which allowed them to hover easily, would allow them to strike at her at multiple angles all at once.

Her Divine Senses showed her what she was up against. It seemed the skies were not as safe as they had seemed.

Elise, Kairos, Anastaria, Xeslin, Moritas, Miritas & Barion

The group made there way down the hill and found themselves before the Perpetuam. The fight that Ember fought high up in the air was to far to be seen in detail from this location and thus the group was focused on the river before them. Barion raced any who wished to try their hand at it. His gain of speed was normal for a god at first but quickly began to double and then triple and then quadruple in speed as his legs seemed to shimmer with divine energy.

Anastaria simply smiled, walking as Barion ran to find herself ahead of him in the blink of an eye and then again and again before being lost to your sight until you reached the Perpetuams banks. Barion smiled, tapping Anastaria on the shoulder.

Good show, Anastaria. Had to let you take the lead as I didn't want to leave our fellows to far behind us. Also, not very nice of me if I was to beat you on our first race.

He laughed, Anastaria and the others not truly sure if he was kidding or meant it as he truly seemed to believe his words.

They saw ruins of what must have been a small community, perhaps 12 buildings or so, here alongside the Perpetuam. Remains of a dock were still present but unsafe to step on. The river itself flowed softly, with little ripple on its surface.

As they waited they saw then a creature approach them. It was a lizard humanoid. Not unlike the Mariend or the Dreki yet unique in their own way. These were closer to lizards than the other two, their eyes bulbous somewhat and allowing them to see from the sides compared to the two Dakalnarian races which had forward looking eyes like predators. Their scales were more like a snake, glistening from a natural oil covering their body. It work tattered clothing as it approached you, bowing slightly and holding out its hands that were cupped together facing up while its head was bowed to face the ground.

Pleaze, me offer you food in exchange for time. You need to traverse? I help. I able to bring across. I ask only what can give. Food be most wanted. Gold be most appreciated. I can bring across, if you wish. If not I walk away. Me offer nothing as have nothing to offer for life. Life of myself not worth your time to kill.

Talramirez & Diamytron

Talmirez and Diamytron made their way towards the Eternal Flame. They knew of its name instinctively yet not its purpose.

As they walked, Diamytron kept eyes on the land and fauna and creatures they came across, his eyes glimmering as he took it all in.

Curiosity, for the most part. Yet, I must admit, my being is drawn to it. Is it not for you as well?

Talmirez did not feel such a draw to the flame. It was there and was intriguing but a feeling to want to go to it? No.

Tell me, Talramirez, how goes it upon your personal realm? I have found mine to be... daunting. It has resisted my presence, seeming to resent it. I wondered if this was the case for others besides myself.

As they waited, Anastaria looked around. Curious of the ruins, the cause of their run down, and who they had housed. Yet it seemed one of the answers might have presented itself.

Inspecting the mortal curiously, Kairos asking the questions on the forefront of her mind. "Worry not, we have no reason to harm you or bring a sooner end to your being."

Anastaria could cross the river without help, however she would stay and wait with the others to be ferried should they take the beung up on their offer and exchange.

Elise was surprised to see how many followed her toward the city ruins, and she stopped to wait for them to catch up. Barion's reckless race with Anastaria left her a bit surprised and amused, but she instead chose to walk with those who followed: Kairos, Xeslin, Moritas, and Miritas.

At the river she looked around curiously, and listened to the lizard man as he approached and begged for food. As Kairos asked an excellent question and provided him with what the creature had requested, Elise listened carefully for his response. Her eyes swept the town as Anastaria reassured him that the group meant him no harm.

"You fear that some might choose to harm you for no reason."

It was mostly a statement of fact, with only a bit remaining as question seeking confirmation of that which had gone unstated.

"Why?"

After a moment, she turned and bowed to the lizard man respectfully. "My apologies -- you may call me Elise."

As they continued and the topic turned, Tal gave a nod to this as well, "I felt the same myself. The realm welcomed me, but at the same time it did not. Another dwells there it seems, or at least one who opposed my influence. They attempted to rebuff my connection to the land, but I was stronger. I have gone to face them even now. If your realm feels similarly, perhaps it is due to a similar opposing influence," he suggested.

Ember

Ember called upon Titanic Cleave, a great resounding wave of sonic energy emanating from her as she beat her wings once in a powerful snap. The whole of the group of Swipers were struck by the blast, their flight patterns pushed back a bit as they all suffered from the effects.

Ember usese Titanic Cleave upon 24 Swipers for 4 Damage on every Swiper

The Swipers began to buzz about themselves, seeming to flow into a cyclonic funnel before forming into what looked like a large arrow head shaped being made up of the 24 swipers. As a whole they swarmed and struck upon her.

She noted the flow of their bodies, all working as one as it struck her, reshaping as it bounced upon her body to suddenly be flying off to then begin another turn to attack her. Where there had been twenty four of the small creatures there was now one larger being. Her Divine Senses registered them as 24 individuals yet they worked not as individuals but as one cohesive unit. A hive mind, if you will, with on purpose: Taking her down.

The new form seemed more agile, morphing and changing shape as it maneuvered about.

The strike had taken its toll on her as well. Where the individuals were probably only going to be a nuisance, this one form was strong and hurt when it struck. Piercing her aura she felt the pain of the strike as it pulled away to strike again.

Embers aura reduced to 8 from 9
Ember takes 16 Damage from strike from Swipers

Her battle in the tunnels on her home realm and she was feeling the hurt now.

My name? it asked, taking the food that was given by Kairos as he manifested it from essence with a look of wonder and thankfulness as only one who has gone without could give. He gathered the food, bringing it behind a rock and covering it with leaves and branches before returning to you all.

My name? My name not important for ones of your stature but if you must call me then do so with the name of Rizz.

Fear is something I have learned to use to keep safe myself and others. The Nexus is a dangerous place and one must learn to accept ones fear and trust it if one is to survive.

This brought a look of slight disgust by Barion who saw this as a clear sign of weakness while a small nod from Miritas.

This place is old. I not know how it was before but know that war brought it to its end. What war I not know. So many. Fathers say one was here and then was not.

He pointed to the river.

If need to cross I can help. I have boat to carry across. 3 at a time. Only 30 minutes per ride. Not long. Come. Come.

He motioned down towards the dock where you saw that one of the areas that had seemed like a collapsed dock was actually a large raft. It was in bad shape but seemed water worthy.

He stepped on and motioned for you to follow, signalling that the first three could embark while the others he would come back for.

Moritas did not even hesitate as he walked upon the raft and kept facing the other side, not  seeming to care if he was to be first or not by the others standard as he had chosen to be one of the first three.

Barion and Miritas looked to Kairos.

You gave payment, perhaps you can go first and decide who would be the third. said Miritas

I'll go last. I don't mind. I can hold my own against anything that comes my way here anyhow. Wouldn't want any of you to face a danger alone.

Barion gave you all a smile, considering the matter decided.

Talramirez & Diamytron

Diamytron did not push the question about the flame, nodding but turning to look at the Flame with a look of ignited curiosity now.

At Tal's answer about the realm he shook his head.

Yes, it seems our realms are born of us but, like us, are prone to individuality. I have found the presence of the influence opposing my presence a bothersome thing. When you face your opposition, if you would not mind, tell me more about the experience. I am trying to understand the why behind this effect and wondering if there is a correlation between the forces opposing me in my realm and those opposing the other deities in their realm. Coincidence or circumstance.

The duo saw in the distance what appeared to be a small community. It seemed to hold 3 dozen buildings or so. They could easily bypass it or could pass through it. It was a decision they now had to make.

Tal gave a nod back to Diamytron, looking ahead to the town they found themselves approaching.

"Advanced, to say the least, and violent. I can detail more after the confrontation of course, but we shall see how it goes.." Tal agreed, looking ahead to the buildings and considering.

"Shall we inquire in the town or pass through? If others were drawn to dwell so near the flame, they may have insights into it. Or share similar views if nothing else," he noted. It was clear he thought checking on the town might be a good idea at least.

If only she hadn't been hurt in her own realm, she should have no issues dealing with some insignificant flies.

Elise nodded her understanding as Rizz explained himself; everything he'd said made perfect sense to her. When he lead the group to the river she followed, although she remained near the back. Her eyes kept returning to the ruined town behind her.

"Barion," she said after a pause. "It will take some time for the others to cross. I'd like to see if there's anything interesting in what's left of those buildings." She pointed back at the bulk of what had been the settlement, before smiling shyly at him. "Would come with me as protection? It's probably been picked clean, but your presence would provide a measure of assurance." If her godly appearance had eyelashes, she surely would have been batting them.

Anastaria gave a slight nod as she followed along with what Rizz was saying. It was obvious he had a stature of lowering himself in respect to those fears, mainly out of survival. Yet it pulled a sad frown upon her face when he said his name was unimportant of someone of their stature. Unsure if he knew what theirs actually is. "When you lower yourself below those you meet in such a way, you tend to hand them over all of the control right away. While this might often save you from some's ire. Those who might truly seek to do you harm would surely take advantage of this, if out of nothing but pure enjoyment and benefit without lose or much resistance. As they might not care either way."

"You should be more mindful in how you act out of fear to not place yourself directly in the situation you wish to avoid. However that doesn't mean you should brazenly ignore them when it is more appropriate to listen."

Anastaria followed more quietly afterwards as they made their way to what turned out to be the raft. As the others discussed who would go cross now and who would later, it seemed it would take two trips none the less as she would make her way without it.

Taking instead the opportunity to talk with the raftmen again, "Rizz, are there others around here like you I could speak with more? We aren't quite from around here, I'd like to get better acquainted while wait."

Elise, Kairos, Anastaria, Xeslin, Moritas, Miritas & Barion

Kairos, Moritas and Miritas made their way on the raft, waiting for the rower to bring them across. The lizardman saw them, nodding as he answered the questions of the others quickly before making his way to the raft, seeming to not want to make the three wait (nor anger them).

Rizz pointed to the area all around him in answer to Anastaria's question.

We are everywhere and no where, not seen nor heard for we are not worth the time of those that walk here. We survive for that is what we do. We do as told for that is what we do. I thank you for your words of kindness but they are wasted on one as I for I am not worthy of such things.

With that he bowed and walked to the raft, taking the first three across and leaving Xeslin, Elise, Anastaria and Barion for the next trips.

The travel across the river was smooth, Kairos noting that Rizz seemed to concentrate a lot on what he was doing, straining with the handle that controlled the direction the ship would be going to with more strain than seemed necessary seeing as to how calm the river was. Once on the other side he drew the boat closer to the shore to, stepping into the water and pulling the boat itself. He was stronger than he showed, pulling the boat atop the land to have you all simply walk off onto dry land.

He thanked Kairos many times for the payment of food he had given, mentioning that while he does not wish to impose fear nor thoughts of weakness or judgement upon them that they should be careful as the lands are not safe for would be travellers.

He said this as he was floating off, not leaving much opportunity for you to pursue the point. As Kairos turned about he saw that Moritas was already off towards the ruins of the city, not even seeming to be wanting to wait for anyone else to join him. Miritas stood close by, watching Moritas walk off while turning to Kairos.

Shall we await the others or shall we make our way to the ruins? I ask only if you would have company upon your travels.

On the other side of the river, Elise, Barion, Xeslin and Anastaria waited for the boat to return.

At Elises request, Barion simply smiled his boyish grin and nodded, signaling for her to join him as they began to look about the ruins of the place. Xeslin and Anastaria remained present or followed dependant on their mood.

The ruins of the place seemed to hint at this being a porters place where ships would come and land and restock their wares. It seemed that the place had seen much better days with buildings being in ruin due to lack of maintenance while others were simply falling apart. The place was old, most of the wood seeming to have rotten away while one of the larger buildings seemed to have burnt on one half of the building while the other side of it had then fallen to ruin due to neglect.

Barion looked about with little interest really, taking his time to look out for any dangers while keeping up with any conversation being had.

Looking about more deeply at the buildings there seemed to be warehouses that had stood here at once, as well as some resident houses. All were in disrepair or beyond use. The larger building that had partially burnt was the most recent of the buildings here, the stone being of a different style as compared to some of the others and the wood not having rotted as of yet (but still in bad repair)

No one present here seemed alive by the looks of it.

Talramirez & Diamytron

Diamytron nodded, accepting their travel to the village up ahead.

Approaching they saw that the village was made up roughly of 30 buildings of various sizes. The buildings were made of wood while the rooftops were lined with stone or metal plates, you were unsure due to the fact you had never seen such a product before.

The village was made in a circle, with the central building being a ball shaped building that was cut in half at the base thus forming a dome. It had no windows and only one set of doors leading in or out of it. It was made of white plastered stones.

Thew road around the building saw other buildings of smaller stature but larger size than the others buildings away from the center made of wood. These were square or rectangular in shape and had one or two stories with windows and doors as most buildings would have. 6 such buildings were present in the second circle and then 10 buildings on the circle after that and 13 buildings in the circle after that.

The village had no walls and they saw people were about, walking and doing their business. As the duo approached they heard a bell toll three times and saw the folks run into their buildings, probably a warning of their approach.

I believe we have been spotted, Diamytron stated matter of factly. His deadpan statement would have been  slightly humorous had it not been stated as fact.

Tal gave a bit of a smile at the declaration, nodding in agreement at the obvious statement of fact. The people's reaction was noteworthy of course, but also something to potentially be concerned about he felt. They took great pains to warn of approaching strangers, which meant they took their own safety as a matter of importance. At the same time, that also meant there were indeed dangers to be aware of in the region and that the people here may or may not be interested in dialogue. They had been going about their business before, however, so that denoted they were civilized and potentially open to diplomacy.

"Best to assure them we mean no harm all things considered I think. They may be able to tell us a great deal more about what is ahead," he pointed out. And the Fire, was an undertone that was left unsaid. The Fire ahead was their purpose for coming after all, so learning what they could might be worth a brief side trip.

Tal continued forward a short ways, but stopped once he was a respectful distance from the town and stood waiting. Someone intent on harm to the town or its residents would go charging in presumably. Waiting, however, would show those present they meant no harm and were willing to let the townspeople regard them for a time and send out someone to address them. To encourage that, he called out.

"Good day, people of this town. We mean you no harm," he declared.

Ember roared, triumphant, before diving after the falling Swipers to collect their souls, quite quickly crushing them and dissolving them, accepting their essence into herself as she breathes a soft sigh of relief, though a little sad to see their aspects and natures simply disappear, she realizes the importance of their essence.

Once she had collected the essence she flapped her wings, flying closer to the ground as she inspected the river, considering if it would be worth joining with the others before simply huffing softly in annoyance as she began to fly over the wide river. It would be a pain to join them on such a small raft, so she would meet up with them on the other side, figuring she should get to know her sibling gods somewhat, even if it was in her nature to go at things alone.

She put her hands on her hips as she surveyed the ruins with a frown on her face. "This place was clearly once clearly Desirable -- a place of great trade and profit. And yet no one rebuilds? Something does not add up."

She paused to look at Barion. "Clearly enough people come through that Rizz found it worth waiting here to make his offer. Why aren't there others? Fear isn't the primary motivating Passion of everyone... is it?" She looked horrified by that thought.

Anastaria frowned slightly as Rizz spoke of their people. They seemed like survivors who had lived a harsh life full of trauma and fear to build the ones they live now with such a sad response. Why was it they deemed themselves so unworthy? Was it something that had done or was it simply how they had been treated and ingrained upon them. Anastaria went to speak in response to Rizz but the words seemed to fail her as she stopped and shook her head in disprovement.

Anastaria looked at the river calmly as the others left on the raft. Mainly wondering how long swimming across would take and if it had any strong currents that may lay in wait. Debating internally on when the raft returned if she should swim or traverse through the light so that the others who remained could fit. As she did, Anastaria cough sight of Ember as she lowered in altitude and crossed overhead with baring wing flaps.

Looking to Xeslin then as Barion and Elise walked off together to the ruins, Anastaria spoke softly, "What a sad mortal and way to live. On the scraps within the ruins of the war torn past. At the mercy of everything and everyone who passes them, lowering themselves without shame in such a way is far from humble or honest. While they live they hold the power for so much more."

Anastaria took a few steps to look at the area around her as she surveyed it lightly. Her voice lowered with sincerity and a hint of sadness, "I think I might stay here with these people longer. See what all I can learn and provide. Tell the others to not wait up for me and that I choose to remain here for a time should they look for me. If I leave it would be in search of reconnecting with you all."

Bowing her head as she gave a wave, Anastaria began her search for others like Rizz. Attuning her focus to her awarement of everything around and signs of the people. Occasionally calling out for them.

Ember

Ember dove down, catching the falling souls before they would gather themselves and escape into the wild. Caught, she dissolved them all to gather their essence, the low ranked souls unable to give off any aspects/natures due to their meagerness.

Ember gathers 240 Essence from 24 Swipers (Rank 0)

She then dove and landed on the other side of the river to await the arrival of the others seeing as Kairos, Miritas and Moritas were already off to the ruins.

Kairos and Miritas

Moritas had already gone ahead, not bothering to wait for Kairos or Miritas and having them have to run a bit to catch up with him.

Kairos and Miritas, instead, took to walking towards the ruins.

The ruins of the buildings on this side of the river were different, seeing them as only bits and pieces of what must have been a community of 20 or so buildings. Only the dock remained and even it was not truly safe to walk upon. The wood of the buildings that were here were but shards: burnt and rotting. With nothing much to see here, Miritas nodded at Kairos suggestion and they made their way towards the ruins, talking a bit as they did.

My realm? responded Miritas. He paused for a moment, seeming to contemplate his response.

It is a realm that is not unlike Dakalnar or this one, with trees and land and water and mountains. Yet the land at the moment is in a state of perpetual night, with clouds covering even the light of the moon during its cycle. It makes for long shadows when their is light and beasts and plant life akin to this type of lighting.

As with anything, life adapts and I have come across many plants and animals able to make their own light or see in other spectrums. A fascinating adaptation by the realm and its ilk.

Yet I find the contesting efforts of the beings on my realm somewhat troublesome. Perhaps it is my ego but it is as if I am fighting with myself.

He went silent then, as if thinking to himself or not wanting to give out more info for the moment.

What about you, Kairos? What is it that challenges you in your realm?

Elise, Anastaria, Xeslin & Barion

As Elise spoke and questioned openly to Barion he answered with a shrug of his shoulders, seeming to be more interested in ensuring no dangers were present.

Rebuilding that which is destroyed and of no importance is a waste of resources and time.

Barion kept walking with Elise, looking about for anything of interest and as they neared the larger "newer" burnt building he began to lift some of the debris to look at what was underneath. The ease with which he did so showed the might Barion held, even Elise noting she would have had to put some effort in lifting what he was. He threw the debris about non chalantly out of the way, making sure not to send it in the direction of any of the other gods. He stopped suddenly, looking at the ground.

What have we here?

Clearing what was atop it he bent down to look at what he had found. Under the debris was the remains of the floor but under some of the dirt Elise could now make out the tell tale signs of Arcanic energy. Markings on a steel plate in the ground could be seen, the markings showing off as Arcanic energy to her and probably Barion as well.

There was no handle, just a plate of steel in the ground. Barion removed some of the dirt around it and saw it was part of a larger section of steel underneath.

I think there is a box or room or something under here, said Barion.

Anastaria, in the meantime, had been looking for others like Rizz. She found a few, hiding in some holes in the ground near the river bank where the earth was softer. They hid and did not come out, seeming afraid and when they saw her staring they took out broken jars or pieces of wood and a spoon and a small bent fork, offering it to her as they muttered : Take. Let live and take, please.

Xeslin, for his part, drew upon the energies of his domain to call forth his major power. As he pulled on the area to grow the fauna in the area he felt, for the first time, resistance to his calling of his power. It was not that it was not present or blocked from him but it was as if it was far away, having him have to force the connection with his domain in what he was attempting to do with more effort. While he would normally just pull upon his domain without effort, as if it was before him, he now seemed to have to drag it from miles away with a large rope, pulling it to him.

What normally would take seconds took almost a minute, the pull on his domain growing in strength as he forced it. As it came forth, though, he felt a rush go through him as his domain flowed into him and then out from him, his being itself lighting up for a moment with the energy of his domain.

This caught the attention of everyone present, watching as Xeslins efforts came to bare with fauna sprouting everywhere around him. To Xeslins surprise, the fauna that sprouted was even more lively than on Dakalnar or his own realm. Where there had been dry earth or small grass was now covered with high grass, trees and large plants, some of which he had never seen before. The spread of growth was rapid, more rapid now than he had seen in the other realms.

Anastaria and Elise both saw various lizard folk come out of holes as trees or plants grew from where they had been hiding. While Anastaria had found one small family of 5 there were now over 50 coming out from various hiding places, watching as the plants grew with fruits and other edible plants upon them.

They watched in amazement, falling to their knees in supplication before the trees, Xeslin and the others present. Mutterings of "thank you" and "please let us have some" and "we are not worthy" were common. Yet one of them could be heard muttering something different which caught Anastaria's ears as she was closest.

Talramirez & Diamytron

The duo made there way closer to the village and stopped about 50 feet out from the building perimeter. Calling out they then waited.

It took a minute or so before someone came out. Holding a shovel in both hands he, and 5 others, began to make their way to the godly duo. Tal could see a few faces peerings towards them from windows. The people here were not like any humanoid they had seen so far: They were humanoid frogs, their head looking like toads or frogs of varying colors from yellow to brown to green while their legs were like that of humans while their hands were like humans but with only 4 fingers that ended like those of a toad.

They approached, dressed in clothes that showed they were people who worked the land or other such labors. They all carried a "weapon" of some kind that was actually a tool : Shovel, hammer, broom etc.

As they got closer they stopped some 15 feet from the duo.

What do you want? We have nothing more to give and nothing to offer worth the effort. If you promise to leave we can offer a bucket of water but nothing more.

One of them held up a bucket with water in it.

As Anastaria searched and came across the hiding people, she would shake her head and deny taking any of their items. Speaking softly that she did not mean them any harm only wishing to talk. However she would go from person to person as she looked around. Understanding better how it was they were hiding and the homes they now made even if she didn't find them all.

While they were less receptive to her words as of current, Anastaria was taken back by the sudden surge of power within Xeslin. As she looked, sudden and rapid fertile growths began sprouting heavily all about the area. It coaxed many of these locals out as she now saw well just how many may be around. Even she was caught in wonder and amazement at Xeslin's ability. Reassuring and welcoming any who approached her personally as she pointed them to her brother divine with a sense of pride in him and his gracious kindness. There was also a building frustration bubbling within the young goddess. Anastaria almost wanted to yell out to no one in particular but the whole of them in an almost scolding manor like that of a friend or mother. Yet knew it would be received poorly and have the opposite effect. They needed to be guided more gently she figured.

However, Anastaria's pointed ears shifted as they picked up the only outliers' words from the usual speaking of these people. Seemingly snapping her clean into the moment, Anastaria approached the lizardman swiftly as she caught sight of them. Lifting her hands lightly in a non-aggressive way as she spoke with enthusiasm, "Excuse me, yes you! Hi and hello there! My name is Anastaria, what might yours be?

I couldn't help but overhear what it was you said. You and your people seem to know what we are, no? So that must mean there were more like us here before, yes? Would you mind telling me what all you know and what might this curse you spoke of be, in exchange for being granted this bounty. A small yet more than fair price to pay if you consider it. I would most assuredly be appreciative and return the favor further.
" Anastaria took the opportunity then to try and coax out a much needed conversation. As their lack of information was more detrimental than not.

Elise blinked at his comment. "A lifeline of trade and communication is 'of no importance'?" she said, confused. "Why wouldn't they want the wealth and power that comes with that?" Even still, she moved on, frowning at the building around her -- until Barion noticed the steel plate. She nodded at his assessment, but did not touch it.

"Do you recognize the type of Arcana on it?" she asked, even as she studied it herself, attempting to identify it's type. In fact, it was only the sudden deluge of divine energy, followed by the excessive growth of plants, that drew her attention away from the buried curiosity. Cocking her head, she watched the lizardfolk as they emerged. For a second, she watched the lizardfolk as they shuffled and muttered, without taking the food -- food that they Desired so much that she didn't even need to rely upon her Divine Senses to see it. Then, she turned her attention back to the steel plate, studying it for any further clues about its size or origin.

Xeslin flexed his fingers, testing them after his exertion. There was something strange about this place and its distance from the powers divine. Perhaps that was why it had gotten into the state that it had. He wasn't sure in truth but it was something he would likely investigate in time. For the interim, however, he turned his attention to the mortals who had come from hiding. He rose his voice as he spoke so that all could hear him.

"Take of this bounty freely mortals. I, Xeslin, God of Fertility and Evolution, bless you with it. For 4 months it shall grow with my divine power. Afterwards it shall be upon you to maintain this fertile land."

Xeslin, was of course, curious about some of the novel plants that had grown in the area and desperately wished he had his satchel in this realm as he did among the humans. Suppressing a sigh he dismissed his own labors and turned his attention back to the river. He would travel across next and see what there was to be seen of this place further beyond. His plants would be here later, baring something truly devastating or powerful interfering.

Elise noticed the arrival of the draconic goddess that had rushed off shortly after they'd all formed, and wondered what she meant by "dangers I did not expect." Given the size and ferocity of her form, Elise surmised that she must have encountered something truly powerful -- especially given how much more humble she appeared now as compared to earlier.

"Welcome," she finally said. "We are... passing time until the ferryman returns from the other side of the river." She glanced at Barion, then back at Ember. "What did you find? Or, perhaps, what found you?"

The Nexus (Caelum Realm)

She grimaces softly and her head softly "Pests." She said flatly, still annoyed they troubled her so much "I was able to deal with them, but wounds between realms add up, and so it's better I don't continue alone, and I happen to be quite capable in combat, so I should be able to help your group as well"

In reply to Ember (msg # 42):

Elise clearly wanted to ask more about these pests, but seeing Ember's reluctance to discuss the situation, she instead retreated -- at least for the time being. Instead, she gave Ember a brief overview of what had occurred at the settlement so far -- including the information revealed by their discussion with Rizz, the events that had brought the lizardfolk out of hiding, and the search that had found the steel plate in the floor that Barion had found.

"So... what do you make it?" she asked at the end, clearly referring to the plate and its Arcana.

The Nexus (Caelum Realm)

Kairos and Miritas

Miritas thought for a moment.

Perhaps. Our domains do overlap on a lot of aspects, that is true.

He paused, hesitant. They had only just meant and acknowledging the need for help was something that seemed to bring a level of anxiety even among gods. Yet Kairos had broached the subject, stating his willingness for it which seemed to bring ease to Miritas.

You propose an idea worth exploring. What is it that hinders you in your realm? Perhaps I can be of assistance and then I can tell you of mine and see if you can be of aid.

Talramirez & Diamytron

Diamytron returned Tal's curious look but let him take the lead on talks, observing instead.

The Flame? Huh, sure then, go on if that is what you were seeking. We have nothing for your here.

At his next point he nodded.

Yes, tribute. More like mandatory requests as they take anything we have in surplus for themselves. If we have little to offer they take that which we can't give. Been worse since their new leader took over.

Yalik, yeah.

Yeah, COUNT Yalik. He declares these lands his now. Took over from the last one who ruled over the area. He took the title of Count to give himself more status I guess. We can'T fight him and his troops. They are simply to many and strong for us to fight.

The others nodded but the one before you shook his head.

Listen, sorry to bother you with all this talk and sorry for our initial reaction. Not many folks travel these parts anymore, not since The Fall took place. Now this who place is a hardship to live in. Anyhow, if you came from there just be glad you managed to get out. The ruins of the Metropolis have scavengers running about it who will not hesitate to jump upon the likes of the two of you. As for the Flame of Ravenos, nothing really to see. Its just a Flame in the sky. Word was it was meant to protect us all but no one in living memory truly knows the details of it all, especially not since The Fall.

What is The Fall?, inquired Diamytron.

The Fall? Where have you been? I don't know the details but it was the Fall of the Nexus when the gods either ran off or were killed, leaving us all to fight for ourselves. That Flame was meant to protect us but without the gods the land began to change. I don't know the details as such, none of do. To long ago.

Well one person would know.

The one who had been speaking paused, nodding.

Yeah she would. Nexa. She has been around a LONG time. She knows a LOT of stuff. She is left pretty much alone by the Count and others like him but doesn't like to be disturbed.

Where can she be found?

Well like I said, she doesn't like to be disturbed but if your adamant on finding her... she can be found north of here in a house she built for herself on a small island the lies within Lake Tashika. It lies at the base of a mountain. Like I said, she doesn'T like visitors so be warned.

Elise, Anastaria, Xeslin, Ember & Barion

Ember moved from one side of the Perpetuam to the other, joining the group that had not traversed the Perpetuam yet. As she landed she took on the form of a femaile Crimson Mariend.

Xeslin offered the bounty of the land to the lizardfolk present, their words of thanks and bows showing their gratitude and proclamation of his power. He walked to the perpetuam as Rizz approached, bringing the boat to shore and allowing Xeslin to embark and looking to see if any other would be joining Xeslin.

Anastaria for her part was preoccupied with the lizardfolks speech, questioning the one who had said a phrase that had caught her attention.

The lizardman looked at her, curious eyes looking at her as if not understanding what or why she was asking him this.

Know what you are? Of course, you are gods, born of the land and claimants to its people and  elements. You are caregivers and takers of life. You are builders and destroyers. You are the guides of mortals as well as those that rule above them. You are absolute. You are Divine.

As he spoke this the others around him nodded, bowing to her and the other gods nearby. Some began to pick the fruits, eating some and handing it to others to feed them as well. The lizardfolk were a people with nothing to their name but they took care of their own, not one looking to take more than he needed and helping those that had a hard time helping themselves.

Anastaria pressed the question of the curse, the one questioned seeming confused at first but answering as best he could.

The curse? It is a saying. When The Fallen were gone the land was changed. The curse. Where the land had always given it did not. Where the land had always supplied with our needs it did not anymore. We had failed the gods and thus were punished.

He pointed to the trees, the others nodding and sounding praise to Xeslin.

But the gods return to aid us! Xeslin feeds us and his allies walk among us! The land giveth again!

Xeslin heard the chants of his name, the admiration of his bounty appreciated and praised by those present.

Elise, for her part kept talks with Barion, surprised by his answer but Barion simply shrugged as he answered her question about the wants of mortals: Maybe because it is not what they want.

His attention was more on the plate though, looking at the Arcana and shaking his head.

I am not yet talented enough with Tradition to be able to recognize any of this. Then again it is a plate of steel. It may be a challenge but I may be able to rip it off. There are seams around its frame so it may be a door.

Yet the noise of the chanting lizardfolk and influx of divine energy as forest and fauna grew all about the area had them both turn to watch Xeslins work and the effects on the people present. Elise simply kept an eye, her main attention on the plate as Barion simply smirked at the lizardfolks reactions. Mortals are funny, aren't they?

As Ember and Elise spoke, Barion perked up at the mention of pests but when pointed out that they were airborne he grunted in annoyance and nodded, returning his feeling of the edges of the plate before him, unable to truly get a hold on either side.

Rizz watched the forest that had taken hold of the area and looked at Xeslin with awe.

You did this? You are truly a god! Can I?

He pointed to a fruit nearby, Xeslin nodding as Rizz went forth, taking some and eating it. His eyes rolled back in his head at the flavor and he devoured it quickly before kneeling before Xeslin.

Thank youz, Lord Xeslin. Thank you for bounty. We are not worthy but we thank you.

If no one else was coming forth, Rizz was prepared to bring Xeslin to the other side on his own.

The Nexus (Caelum Realm)

Elise pondered what she had seen and heard, and an impulsive thought took hold. She grinned at Barion, then moved toward the crowd. She cleared her throat, and began singing, clearly and loudly, so that everyone within the area could easily hear her words.

You feared that all was lost,
    Providence failed,
    naught but death
    awaited.

And yet now Hope is reborn!
    Life returns!
    Your fates shall change
    if you wish it.

What shall be your guiding Passion?
    What do you Desire?
    To cower in fear forevermore,
    or to secure the future
    for your children?

Fertility of the Earth to feed you,
    Strength to watch over you,
Destruction to rain upon your foes,
    Redemption is available for all!

We can help your lives improve,
We are here to help you!
    Your fates shall change,
    if you wish it.

What shall be your guiding Passion?
    What do you Desire?
    To cower in fear forevermore,
    or to secure prosperity
    for your children?

It would have been easier and more expedient, Elise knew, to draw upon the power of her Domains and move their hearts directly. Somehow, however, she suspected that although convincing them through only the use of song and lyric would be more difficult, it would also be more impactful -- and potentially more successful long term. She just hoped that her sibling gods would be up for her idea... especially given that she hadn't exactly explained anything before launching into the proposal to the lizardfolk.

The Nexus (Caelum Realm)

Tal listened on to the locals, his face thoughtful as they relayed the current dispensation of the area and in part the nature of the Flame. A means to protect it seems, keeping this area safe, but with the gods apparently having disappeared some time ago that means was lost. But, perhaps, not forgotten.

"We shall go and visit this Nexa," Tal declared, looking to Diamytron  to confirm he agreed with Tal's thoughts.

"To answer your question, we have just recently awoken, so have much to learn of what has passed before our coming. Be at peace. Know that things will, ultimately, change soon. Hopefully for the better. The gods have returned," he proclaimed, giving those gathered a gracious smile as he looked to his companion.

"Shall we see to this Nexa and learn more of what has happened? She may be able to shed some light on the history of this place.. and perhaps even tell us more of the Flame."

Kairos considered for a moment, studying Miritas thoughtfully; he shared the other's concern, but perhaps demonstrating vulnerability was the best step forward with a divinity whose portfolio included Fear

He offered a half-smile, then began, "It seems we are bound to our Realm, much as we are to our Domains. But, for me at least, it is not ... harmonious. Something resists, perhaps the Realm, perhaps another presence. Certainly, I must strive against an opposing force. You can see how my Aura is tattered even now, where I wrestle with that presence made real..."

Dismissing his injuries, he shrugged, "It is less with the physical threat that I am concerned, but the metaphysical nature of the what is behind it. It appeared when I woke, became flesh, and I suspect it manifesting similar for others... a commonality we all share, us newly awoken gods, and hence how we deal with it may have a commonality too"

He trailed off, considering once more, "For now, I suspect it is a fragment of the Realm, perhaps my opposite, brought forth in balance to my own birth..."

The Nexus (Caelum Realm)

Anastaria smiled as the man she pressed had answered her questions, yet she did nothing to dispel his confusion on why she asked them. Only resolute that their existence and make were known within the lands of the Nexus unlike as within Dalkanar.

Whisking herself a fruit nearby she took an ample bite so that she might satiate her curiousness of this land's bounty. Yet so too did she aid in handing out food to those who needed it.

Those that bowed before her she bid to rise, raising her hands in slight protest. As this gift was one from Xeslin and not her. Pondering on the answers she was given, Anastaria began to theorize that with the leave of the divine the lands eventually drained without their combined co-existence. It seems the Nexus would need to be properly tended to.

What had happened in ages past seemed to carry down their weight upon those who now resided within existence here. A burden not fair to the people. The lizardfolk each seemed to bid themselves unworthy yet beyond gracious of their aid.

Anastaria seemed to want to speak out to the gathering of the people, yet smiled when Elise's voice could be heard carrying through the winds and trees around her. Listening carefully to her song as she nodded along with her tail swishing about gleefully. As it ended, Anastaria clapped loudly with pride.

Anastaria pained to sing along with her sister, however lacked the refined skill or talent with her voice. Instead waiting for those around to finish their response to the song before speaking up loud enough for all to hear, yet with a gentle tone, "I am Anastaria, Goddess of Light and Redemption. Tell me your woes and pains of heart. Share with me the burdens of your soul and that which grasps your heart and steps frozen. Let us reclaim within our palms each your brilliant lights and worth. Let us shine brightly together to cast away the shadows that lurk on each your paths. I bid you to travel forward out of despair and into a future iron crafted with the likeness of the stars' beauty."

The young goddess didn't seem so resolute or in a rush to cross the river. If the others would leave without her, she waved them off. Promising to catch up eventually, instead she put her focus to those before her who could use her kindness. Consoling their hearts and beings instead. More resolute to tend to them and those that could use her aid.

Xeslin moved to the boatman and took his seat. At mention of partaking in the food he gave the shallowest inclination of his head and watched passively as the mortal partook of the bounty. It was appropriate for mortals to benefit from the actions of gods. There would come a time when he would need to benefit from the actions of mortals after all. A great dance, a cycle of debt and obligation.

The Nexus (Caelum Realm)

Kairos and Miritas

Miritas listened and nodded in understanding.

I myself faced off against a foe I have just recently managed to fight off. She fled, the being that came forth against me. It was a deviation from my own Domains, somewhat entangled with it yet not so much so that it was part of it. An Entity, one that my Divine Senses could not fully divulge into more detail.

He paused as they walked, their approach to the ruins nearing.

Fear is often misunderstood, seen as something to cower from. Yet those that manage to rise against that which they fear become stronger and able to surmount almost impossible tasks.

This Entity was not like this. In fact it seemed to relish in the very horror and depravity that fear can bring upon those it preys upon, working to bring all of those it comes upon down to their knees and wishing nothing but eternal slumber to be hidden away from what it brings upon them.

I managed to make this abject creature evade, having it go off and hide deeper within my realm. I shall have to face it again at some point but for now I stand a ruler within a province of my realm, one that I can make my own.

As Kairos, Miritas seemed to flex as his own Divine Power increased in that moment almost in tandem with Kairos himself. He looked to Kairos, noting the gained power and nodded in recognition.

It seems we have both managed to deal with what we thought worrisome. It seems our fears were misplaced.

A slight chuckle escaped from Miritas as they kept walking.

Tell me about yours, Lord Kairos. How did you handle the one you had to deal with and how did he manifest himself?

===========================================

The duo reached the ruins and as they did they saw that it truly was that: ruins of an age gone by. The road led to a set of doors which were broken, one of them laying on the ground while the other was half open. It was huge, easily 100 feet in height and just as wide, with the second meaning the doorway had been 200 feet in width when fully open. As they approached they saw some movement: humanoids moving about. Lizardfolk were the more common race as they scurried about to hide from anyone close while the others were of various races unknown to the deities, moving into or out of the doorway of the ruins as they headed out into the wild of the Nexus.

None seemed to take particular attention to the duo as they approached the gates.

They noted that the doors had markings: faces unrecognizable to them due to their not knowing who they stood for or being too damage to BE recognized. They counted atleast 40 on the door that was still up, the other being face down on the ground not letting them view who it was that was depicted on them.

Entering they saw that within was some form of society. A society of scavengers and beggars and merchants trying to see wares. It was smelly and noisy as they entered the area. They felt many  bump into them, appologies coming forth yet they also noticed hands passing against their bodies as they moved through the crowd. They had nothing to have stolen from them, the pick pockets finding no treasure upon them.

On the main walkway they saw merchants of every kind, street vendors and those with little shops selling the same or something almost like the one being sold next to them Trinkets or low quality items were the main stay while relics found in the ruins were others: most broken or of no value unless for historical purposes.

Few buildings on the ground floor stood out but some in the distance did.

- A large Cathedral stood out close by, its pinnacle sticking out atop the buildings as the glass windows forming its top reflected the light of the flame in the distance.
- The Jade Citadel in the distance. It stood like a green flame within the city ruins.
- The Ebony Tower, also in the distance between the cathedral and the Jade citadel. It reflected nothing but the darkness of its stone.
- The Golden Oak: A large oak tree rising above the levels of buildings in what seemed like the middle of the city. Its size must be huge as the size of the city was days if not weeks of travel by foot. It stood in the middle, its leaves a deep amber in color as the light reflected upon its leaves and sparkled in the sky.

Talramirez & Diamytron

The duo set out in the direction they were pointed at, making their way towards the mountain where Lake Tashika was said to reside.

It took them 3 weeks to travel to it and when the approached it they saw that this place was serene in stature with the small breeze being just strong enough to cool someone from the heat yet not cool enough to make them cold. The lake was beautiful with the purity of the water showing as the light reflected upon it and one could see to the bottom of the lake with ease at the shores.

In the middle of the lake was a small island with a house laying upon it, smoke rising from a small chimney. The wood house had a shed behind it as well as logs piled up behind it for a fire. A rocking chair was on the porch at the front.

A rowboat was on the side of the island, attached to a rope that was tied to a dock. Getting across would mean flight or swimming as their was no boat on your side.

Elise, Anastaria, Xeslin, Ember & Barion

The group listened as Elise sang, her voice gathering the attention of all (even the gods who chose to). As she finished they all smiled, looking at the lizardfolk.

The lizardfolk smiled and clapped, some bowing when looked upon and not looking directly at the deities. While the group had shown benevolence, fear seemed the main sticking point for these people.

Xeslin coughed once, signalling he was ready to leave and with no one else joining him he was taken across to the other side alone as the others remained here.

Barion and Elise went on to study the plate door in the ground, Elise looking from time to time to the lizarfolk, while Anastaria worked with them more purposefully while Ember watched passively for now.

As she called to the lizardfolk to try and aid them move past their fears and woes and pain she was met with shakes of their heads, bows and fruit. The lizardfolk seemed more interested in the food and the bounty it brought than their own problems which they seemed to simply accept as being part of who they were.

The Nexus (Caelum Realm)

Anastaria seemed keen to stay around and begin working in undoing what was possibly generations of harmful views of self worth and acceptance of an unruly placement within the world and its cycle.

She would need a keen balance of both a stern oversight and endearing encouragement to glean closer into their hearts so that they might unfurl in full their burdens and untether them from their souls.

Anastaria spoke with seriousness as if they might possibly draw an unknown ire from her, "Now, I will not hear any more words of unworthiness. Do you draw in question our capability to see your worth for what it is in truth? Is our presence or blessings a mistake, is that what you wish to tell me when you draw in question your worth to me?"

Anastaria shook her head lightly then continued, "I tell you now, that you each hold the capabilities to grasp a shining future within the light. That these issues and problems are ones you can overcome with our blessing. They need not be who you are, but a part of what made you who you will be! So let us work together to grasp a hold of your light and the dreams they may bring forth onto the Nexus and into time!"

The Nexus (Caelum Realm)

Kairos found himself nodding along as Miritas spoke of the Entity he had faced, which seemed in many ways a parallel to Epilas, but also in how the other divine saw his Domain.

He said as much, when the moment was right, "Dreams, at least the aspect of them that contains Nightmares, has many parallels with Fear, brother. When I speak to my faithful of fear and failure, this is how I speak of it..."

Chuckling at the other's wry and subtle humour as they both attained rulership of the first fragment of their Realms, he smiled as he told of his own challenge, "It seems the Entity I faced was metaphorically similar: a perverse twisting of my own Domain, taking the most unbalanced and unchannelled aspects of it and revelling in them. But where you faced - I my apologies for any presumption - Despair or Terror or somesuch... I faced Madness and bedlam"

"Thankfully the creature I faced was blessed with hubris and pride, and believed he had me cornered. I chose instead to Hope, which is perhaps the other extreme of Dreams, and bound him in a challenge. Hope won out, and he will serve me for a year..."

He sighed, taking in the ruined and scavenger filled city as they entered, "We must clash, he and I, I suspect. But I have a little space with which to work now"

"Let us continue to explore together, brother", he suggested, "We have more in common, I feel, then others might presume... if you see somewhere we might wander, suggest it, otherwise I feel either the Cathedral or the Ebony Tower might be appropriate places to begin. None know us here, yet, but the streets will yield up few secrets for now"

Tal looked out at the island and the home that was occupying the land there, also noting the means of getting across as he turned to address Diamytron.

"I might be able to fly us both across, though it would be tricky. Unless you'd prefer to swim that is," he offered with a bit of a smile. He wasn't certain how well his companion would fare being carried across in such a manner - not to mention it would take a bit of effort on his part to lift both he and Diamytron, but he figured it was doable. It would also leave the other a bit more in the trusting care of Tal during the journey though, and hoping also that nothing untoward happened during the trek.

But the offer was made at least, letting Diamytron decide on how he wished to proceed.

The Nexus (Caelum Realm)

Kairos and Miritas

Miritas nodded, listening to Kairos as they finished their talk about their opponents on their personal realms. As mention of the similarity of their powers, Miritas nodded.

Time will tell, brother. I must admit a part of me is wary of opening up to much to my brothers and sisters, something seemingly innate in myself I suppose if not all of us. Yet your approach to the Dream and that of Fear as a way to inspire others is something I can appreciate. Perhaps I will let those I work with in Dakalnar to also take insight of their Dreams, to not think of them only as the wanderings of the mind but as the potential to be attained.

As they looked at the targets, Miritas pointed to the Cathedral.

It is the closest and a Cathedral in itself is set to deities. Perhaps it will give us some insight on the deities of this realm.

Approaching the Citadel was easy enough as the roads here all seemed to lead to it in some way.

When it came into full view you saw what had seemed like a wonderously grand structure from a distance as being a relic of what it should have been. Folks here were mainly trying to sell their wares or services, the Cathedral itself having a large fountain in front of it which was shattered with nothing but rubble remaining of the statue that had been set within the middle of it.

The fortress itself had no windows remaining on the main core building, the only ones remaining being in the towers themselves and even some of these were missing:  broken.

The doors to the Cathedral were open, these at least still remaining. The symbols upon the arches of the doors were blasted, broken as the stone that had them carved upon was shattered, clear purpose put in removing the signs of their existence.

The duo saw armed men, tiger headed humanoids, baring swords and plate armor with the symbol of a red raven with a sun in the background on their chest. As some people approached they were checked by the guards, the ones wanting to enter showing a necklace or patch to the guards before being let in.

On the outside you could hear a human preaching the "Word of Ravenos" as the true protector of the realm. He had roughly 20 or so humanoids around him, listening to him preach in rapt attention while most of those around simply ignored him.

Talramirez & Diamytron

Diamytron looked at the water and then Talramirez and pondered the offer.

I appreciate the offer, Talramirez. Perhaps a flight offer, with a lift of your part, is not something to scoff at as I am unsure what may lurk within the waters.

Also, it would be improper to meet our host all wet from a swim.

Tal grabbed Diamytron around the waste, finding the deity light in general, as they made their way across the lake.

Landing on the other side, Diamytron thanked Talramirez as they began to approach the home.

As they did they saw a flutter of wings as 5 creatures left from the back of the building, cawing a loud cackle as they flew away. They were somewhat large, about one a half times the size of Tal, their escape following hisses and caws from them as they flew away.  The duo then saw someone coming from around the building. A woman, her features that of a catlike humanoid that was clearly hurt, blood streaming from her arm and chest as she took two steps and fell to the ground, face first and unmoving.

The two of you approached quickly and saw with your Divine Senses, that she was a divinity! Based on her wounds she was close to death, her body losing blood quickly as the gash was deep.

Unknown Major Deity

She would not survive more than a few more seconds.

I have no ability to heal and have no basis to take in that knowledge without seeing it first hand. Can you help her? If not, we can opt for one of the less obvious actions: absorbing her being for ourselves. We would gain that which she has, increasing our own potential in the process. What say you?

His question was serious and he seemed to truly be wanting that option to be chosen yet seemed to want Tal to accept to go ahead with it, as if making it "their" idea was better than he acting alone.

Elise, Anastaria, Ember & Barion

Anastaria continued to talk with those present, her persistence seeming to scare many away yet gather the attention of a few. As she pushed her want to aid them into believing in their worth one of the more elderly ones approached her. He seemed cautious, worried as he spoke.

We understand your words yet you speak words of danger. The Collective will not appreciate such talk. Already it broke that which wanted to aid us and those that remain of the gods workers only look to gain ressource which we have none to offer.

He pointed towards the west, where the river flowed from and hills broke the skyline.

Beyond that first hill is a place of worship. He offers protection and tells of our value and asks only that we offer that which we can for his protection. He does yet he is not always present and his protectors are often unable to fight against the ones who fight for the Collective. Thus they die, we are punished and the cycle restarts.

He then pointed to the east, again down the rivers path yet this leading into the plains.

Down there is a pit with a place of worship of another. He offers protection as well as long as we offer to give his followers supplies to continue their work to protect us. He offers no protectors of our people but does offer protection with his people. Yet they come little here, only gathering offerings and if trouble is about helping to rid us of them. Yet when they leave the Collectives forces will come and punish us for giving to him rather than them.

He thus pointed at her.

If we give to them, we are punished. If we do not, we are punished. If we give to you, how will it be different? We are Slythian. We are nothing. We are worth less than the land. We thank you for gift of the forest and land Lord Xeslin and yourselves have given us. We will take and tend as long as it is here yet when the Collective comes then it will be gone as they will take and punish us for not telling them it is here or some other reason for our useless lives.

Xeslin

Xeslin was brought to the other side, disembarking.

The ruins of the buildings on this side of the river were different, seeing them as only bits and pieces of what must have been a community of 20 or so buildings. Only the dock remained and even it was not truly safe to walk upon. The wood of the buildings that were here were but shards: burnt and rotting. With nothing much to see here, Xeslin began his journey to the Metropolis.

He reached the ruins and as he did he saw that it truly was that: ruins of an age gone by. The road led to a set of doors which were broken, one of them laying on the ground while the other was half open. It was huge, easily 100 feet in height and just as wide, with the second meaning the doorway had been 200 feet in width when fully open. As he approached he saw some movement: humanoids moving about. He noted that the doors had markings: faces unrecognizable to him due to his not knowing who they stood for or being too damage to BE recognized. He counted atleast 40 on the door that was still up, the other being face down on the ground not letting him view who it was that was depicted on them.

Entering he saw that within was some form of society. A society of scavengers and beggars and merchants trying to sell wares. It was smelly and noisy as he entered the area. He felt many  bump into him, appologies coming forth yet he also noticed hands passing against his body as he moved through the crowd. He had nothing to have stolen from, the pick pockets finding no treasure upon him.

On the main walkway he saw merchants of every kind, street vendors and those with little shops selling the same or something almost like the one being sold next to them, trinkets or low quality items were the main stay while relics found in the ruins were others: most broken or of no value unless for historical purposes.

The Nexus (Caelum Realm)

Anastaria seemed a little lost and could feel the weight on her heart as some of the lizardfolk turned away as she spoke. Yet when an elder came before her, he spoke his and the other's minds true. With wisdom questioning and stating their predicament and placement. As well how they view themselves as an aftermath of their woes from trusting others.

Anastaria listened with a tender heart as she considered them fully and what it was that they might have gone through aside from what was told to her. Clasping her hands to her heart, Anastaria bowed her head solemnly for a moment to the elder Slytherin, no to all of the Slytherin around her as she kept it low for moments to passing minutes. Looking up, she spoke to the Slytherin elder, "I care not what the Collective would think of my words. They are no protectors, only swindlers. If they are their gods' workers, they disrespect their deities with such atrocious behaviors. All they do is punish and take that which is not theirs. Those who were kind enough to offer protection from their qualms did so but not with a heart set full of intention of fixing the issue at hand."

Anstaria stood as she spoke with conviction, "If the Slytherin are worthless, then why is it they all take from you? If the Slytherin are worthless why do they protect you? If the Slytherin are worthless, why do they use you?

I shall not ask for what you can offer but only open ears and hearts full of faith. For this bounty is the land's and yours alone. Worthy of only those who you would share it with. Not for them to punish you and steal in selfishness.

I shall offer you my protection, and not just that but extend forth my hand so that you can hold your heads high and protect yourselves. So that you do not rely on another to hold your own to stop their hands. Yet redeem yourselves of your worth, of your bounty, and that of your heritage! Prove it to not just yourselves but to me, and I shall offer you a reward most dear and close to me. A chance to change that which you see has befallen you for good.

"Of course, brother", demurred Kairos when the other spoke of his wariness and how he might yet Dreams be perceived as potential in his own province in Dakalnar, "It is too early to know one another well"

"But when you are ready to speak more, I am ready to listen. Terror and malice seem close to this entity, and I fear I will not soften those whilst he serves me"

* * *

Drifting closer to the preacher, Kairos bent half an ear to listen to him, though he paused to stop one off the passersby with a soft-spoken question, "Who are the Red Ravens? What is it they require for entry to the Cathedral?"

Tal considered the creatures that flew away first, but turned his attention to the woman that had fallen first. At Diamytron's suggestion though, Tal shook his head as he reached out a hand to the fallen deity while answering back.

"While power might be of aid, it is knowledge that we came here seeking more. In that, the right thing to do and the care of Life are one," he remarked. He took the moment to let his power flow into the fallen woman, granting her the benefit of Life to aid her in healing. While he had not used his Life Everlasting ability on another deity thus far, it was something that should be easy enough. The power of Life to aid the healing of another. At the least, it would keep Death at bay for a short time and help the woman recover.

The Nexus (Caelum Realm)

Kairos and Miritas

Listening to what the preacher said, it was about the word of his Lord.

Lord Ravenos protects us! He stands watch over the realm! Even in our greatest need he watches from above, protecting us and the realm from the onslaught of The Collective! The Collective and their Masters revel on preying upon the weak! They revel in bringing pain and suffering upon those that wish to live a peaceful life!

Rise up! Rise up and stand with us! Let Ravenos bless upon you his vision of Creation and let yourselves bask within his light! Let He who stands against the Trinity have your support! Let his people stand by his side thanks to your support and faith! Offer him your hearts and souls that he may be strengthened by them! Offer him your sword that he shall have you stand by him in the fight! Offer him your shield that you shall protect those who stand with him that cannot fight by his side!

A few offered prayer to Ravenos as the preacher spoke, a few others dropping some coins at his feet while others took the advice of some within the crowd that were guiding them towards the Cathedral, offering them leather patches wioth the symbol of the red raven and sun upon it.

As Kairos posed his question without gathering to much attention to himself, he was answered that they were Guardians of Ravenos, holy warriors that protected the Cathedral from those that would try and corrupt or hurt those within. As for what they require to allow entry, a symbol of ones faith of course, as long as it stands with the faith of Ravenos or his allies.

Miritas looked at the preacher as did Kairos, turning to Kairos in a silent whisper.

His fears are well hidden yet as with all mortals they are there. He fears not death, at the hands of any here or beyond. Yet he does fear that if and when death comes that his work will not be recognized as valuable enough to allow him to serve his Lord Ravenos in the afterlife.

Miritas paused, letting the Preacher continue his speech before finishing with his last thought.

A blind devotion with the hope of a possibility of reward from a source he has never seen. Such faith is.... surprising.

Miritas was clearly able to see, much like Kairos, into the soul of a mortal and see that which correlated to his own domain. Where Kairos as seen within the dreams and aspirations and base fears of the Preacher, Miritas was able to see deep within the soul of a mortal and see how those fears. A twist on the same power but with differing views to give a whole.

Talramirez & Diamytron

The dying god turned to mist, disappearing as Tal found himself kneeling before nothing but grass. Diamytron put a hand on his shoulder to gather his attention.

An illusion. A powerful one but one I could see through easily. I have to say, I am disappointed in how I was protrayed.

A voice came from the cabin. Turning, the two of you saw a female humanoid. The body of a human female but with the head of a fox, she sipped from a cup as she looked at the both of you, leaning on one of the wooden beams holding up her porch roof.

Sorry about that. I had little time to prepare and did not expect you to see through it so easily.

Appology accepted. I take it you are Nexa?

The woman nodded, signalling for Tal to rise from his crouched position.

I can't say I appreciate the intrusion but now that you're here, and seeing as you ARE divinities, I'll allow you to explain you coming on my island before I decide if I make you leave politely or by force.

Two hounds came to her side from within the doorway of her home, one sitting up beside her while the other standing next to her. Both kept their eyes upon the two deities but their Divine Senses showed them what Nexa was that stood before them, as well as the hounds.

Elise, Anastaria, Ember & Barion

Anastaria poured her heart out as she spoke, her words clearly would have turned the hearts of many on Dakalnar.

Yet here, with the Slytherin, they simply looked at her and then turned as they went about taking what food they could. The elder nodded to her, thanking her for her time and kind words but said nothing more as he joined the others. Not one remained to offer her anything in return for that which she offered. Their true thoughts on that which she offered seeming to be that which they had heard countless times before. They had been promised and used to many times in the past, by many it seemed, and her words carried no more weight than the others had.

Words, it seemed, carried little weight for the Slytherin. They had heard them to often enough in the past.

Tal gave a wry smile, almost a smirk, back to the revelations of their newfound 'host', standing back up and giving a nod to the woman in turn.

"We were directed here by the people a fair travel away," Tal remarked, gesturing in the direction of the village that had told them of Nexa's location.

"They claimed that the one who dwelled here was awaiting the arrival of new gods and could tell us more about the Fire, which brought our interest here. The people there were.. not in great shape sadly, but thought that the Fire could help them if the gods wished it. To hear the tale of the Fire and this place is the purpose of our visit," he further details, then glances over to where the illusionary Nexa had been beforehand.

"As to our eventual exit, whether you wish to share your wisdom or not, I'd point out that we did come peacefully.. and despite it being unnecessary, aid was attempted to be given to you all the same," he notes, referencing his initial attempt to heal the 'wounded Nexa' illusion.

"Such action I would hope might be worth some consideration," he concludes. Seeing Nexa's adherence to Justice, Tal was of course playing on that angle it seemed. After all, deceiving and then being more forceful than polite to someone who had attempted to save Nexa - even if it was an illusion - seemed a bit unjust. Or at least bad sport. Though Tal tried to phrase his point of view as diplomatically as possible to not be too blunt about such things. He was making best use of his natural grace it seemed to handle the situation peacefully.

As her words and heart poured out, there want not an ear to lean on within the Slytherin people. They had their trust and faith broken by those around them over and over.

No, if Anastaria wanted to prove it to them, she would have to do something herself. If she could not inspire them to overcome their issues and themselves today, she would have to show it to them.

Light-stepping on the other side of the dispersing group of Slytherin, Anastaria spoke out, "What I offer you is freedom from your shackles. The ability to be more self-reliant upon yourselves, to solve the issues at hand instead of being left at the mercy of those who aid in the problem.

With Redemption comes change to prove your worth. Each are hard worked for and earned, a change of heart, soul, and mind that each requires diligence. Great efforts that are required of one to have a stout body and spirit.

There it is the duty of the strong to help the weak. It is the duty the of feeble to make the best of themselves into something strong.

So tell me, who here will make that first step into change. Into Redemption for not just yourself, but all of the Slytherin. Take my hand and follow my lead, I will grant you the Light to see you redeemed.
"

Extending her hand then was a shimmering ephemeral ball of light, essence in raw truth. Anastaria was prepared to make one of the Slytherin an elite warrior then and there. Yet if they were still not swayed, she would have to return and prove further with more actions her intent.

"Perhaps in time we might be worthy of such devotion", murmurred Kairos softly in response. He quirked one eyebrow, contining in the same low tone, "Yet his words cause me to pause, too. Clearly there is war between the elders, between Ravenos and his allies and those of the Collective. If this city is sworn to Ravenos, in part or in whole, might there be other similar settlements sworn to them. We might tread carefully, knowing not which of them to side with..."

"But, also", he said, perhaps more softly, "Alliances between the divines may also flourish"

Taking a thoughtful breath, he turned to face Miritas more squarely, "Shall we enter, under our own symbols?"

Although Elise had hoped that at least one among the Lizardfolk would have a spine, but when her song -- and then, Anastaria's exhortations -- failed to move them, she sighed and shook her head (if only slightly) to herself. She paused, however, to listen as one of the elderly liszardfolk stepped forward to explain their reluctance.

She cocked her head and pondered what he had said, ignoring, for the time, Anastaria's comments in return. When Anastaria vanished, Elise went after the elder Slytherin, asking him to pause a moment.

"Where can we find this 'Collective'?" she asked.

Kairos and Miritas

Miritas nodded and when asked how they should enter his eyes showed his enjoyment to come.

I would not enter under false pretenses within the house of another, after all.

Thus they approached the gates of the cathedral. The guards stepped forth, asking to see their symbols. Miritas looked at Kairos and then back at the guards.

I have none. I follow my own path.

The guards seemed surprised by that answer.

Only followers of Ravenos are welcome. Any who oppose his faith are enemies of his faithful.

Their hands were on the pommel of their blades. The weapons, the hilts of them, were donned of silver and made of great skill. They remained sheathed and Miritas, for his part, did not even shudder or blink at the obvious threat.

You should take care to keep those weapons sheathed. We mean no harm but I shall not be threatened for seeking entry in the house of fellow god.

The words seemed to make the two guards hesitate, they turning to look at each other before turning back to look at Miritas and then Kairos.

Talramirez & Diamytron

Nexa sipped from her cup, looking at the two of them before turning without a word and walking into the cabin while leaving the door open.

An invitation to enter, it seemed.

The two hounds remained there, looking at them. Diamytron looked to Tal and gestured, making sure the other wanted to go forth as well as he began to move towards the cabins entryway. Tal nodded, moving forth, the hounds watching them both and entering behind them .

Within the cabin the look of it was unlike that which they expected: A large open cave, atleast 10 times the size of the cabin itself, with 4 open tunnels leading into what seemed other parts of the underground structure were present. Books were stacked upon 8 sets of shelves on one wall while a table with 13 chairs carved of wood and lined with silver and gold and other metals unknown to the two deities showed what seemed to be a map upon it, carved deep within the wood yet smooth to the top of it so as not to hinder anything placed upon the table.

What looked like instruments were placed on holders or placed ready to play: instruments of music that they did not recognize and seemed strange to even pick up or use.

A hearth was set in one part of the large cave, a large pantry standing there with so many ingredients and drying meats and herbs and other such items to make any chef envious. The heat from the hearth warmed up the room but kept it cozy.

Nexa went to an opening close to the pantry, entering it for a moment and then returning from within with a bottle in her hands. It was a large bottle, three times the size as one would expect someone her size to hold, and she polished some of the dust off of it as she set it upon the table and then got some cups to pour the liquid in.

She spoke as she prepared to open the bottle, signalling for them to sit if they wished to as she would be pouring some wine for them.

Yes, the folks around here have it rough. The one they call Count Yalik has taken to requesting tribute quite often from them. He's left me well enough alone after I made it clear I would not be bullied into giving anything to one such as he. He's gotten the point but I see him send scouts from time to time, testing my resolve when he thinks I ain't paying much attention.

She smiled as she poured some of the wine into the cups, offering them each one of the cups.

Makes good meat for my hounds when they do.

One of the hounds gave out a low bark and then licked his lips, the other panting with Tal could swear was a smile on his canine face.

SHe took the third cup, raising it to them.

To the return of the gods. I hope there are more than the two of you.

SHe clanked her cup to the two of yours and then drank her cup in one swig. If you tasted the wine you could taste the fruity yet accentuated taste of it, the taste of a deep richness within the flavoring swirling through your mouth. It seemed to warm your innards instantly, Tal noting the smile on Diamytrons lips as he finished his and asked for another cup.

So you came wanting to know about the Fire, huh? They call it the Flame of Ravenos. Now I know all about it but as with anything, information is an commodity I have found to have more value than gold or whatever it is you find valuable in the moment. So tell me, what is it YOU have to offer in return for this information?

Elise, Anastaria, Ember & Barion

Anastaria Lightstepped, appearing 100 feet from her current position in the blink of an eye. The Slytherin that saw her appear cried out in surprise, some tripping over themselves to back away while others cowering down to protect their heads and that of their children or loved ones as they had taken her abrupt appearance before them as an act of aggression.

Yet from them all Anastaria saw one hold a stick before him to protect a child that cowered behind him. He was the only one before her who had even had the instinct to stand up and hold a weapon to defend himself.

As her eyes fell upon him he seemed to buckle, dropping his walking stick and dropping to his knees.

Appologies, oh great one. I do not know why I held weapon pointed at thee. Spare me and my child and I shall do as you ask. Sparre my child and I shall serve you until my death.

His words seemed almost like a mantra, repeated often it seemed. Yet Anastaria felt no fear in his second phrase, in his serving her. It was the protection of the child that mattered to him.

Extending her hand she enlightened him into an Elite Warrior, the essence entering the Slytherins body and changing his very presence. His spine grew straighter and his muscles grew to a more prominent presence on his body as the nourishment from the essence fueled his body into a healthy one. The scales on his body glistened, the natural oils exerted from him making them glisten in the sunlight while the fins on his back, something she had noted were dried up or non existent on other Slytherins, came forth in prominence upon his back and neck.

He looked at his hands, his arms, the others around him looking at him and whispering to one another.

He looked at his daughter behind him, her eyes wide as a slight smile came upon her face, one of awe.

He looked at Anastaria, confusion on his face.

Why? I... know things I did not and am stronger than I have ever been. Is this punishment? To show me what could be and then you take it away?

The others around him seemed  to think the same as this as he spoke it, looking at him and then her with some fear and trepidation in their eyes. Yet as she shook to signal that it was not he looked at himself and then the others around them. They were hesitant at first but then began to bow to him, bowing to him and to her.

Never has one given us such a gift. Alwasy they have asked and demanded and promised protection yet always they protecting us. Protecting the weak ones of this realm. Protecting the rejected of this realm. Yet the protection never was or was never completed.

He clasped his hands, looking at them and the sinew on his arms. The Slytherins, as a whole, were weak creatures yet this one, standing in pique form before her and his people was like a different species. He towered over them not because he was that much taller but because he stood tall and with posture.

You give me this knowledge and this strength. What is it you expect of me?

His question was one with trepidation still present. Yet as he posed his question, she noted the eyes upon her listening to her next words carefully.

As this all happened, Elise watched and saw the change in attitude. She posed her question to the Elder, his attention on Anastaria as the enlightened warrior spoke yet answering Elise's question, as if worried that if he did not she may grow angry with him.

The Collective is everywhere they please. They rule to countryside. Many house within the Metropolis yet others live off near the mountains and others in the plains to the west and others to the east as well. They are where they wish to be for they claim to own all and none truly oppose them save the servants of the gods. Still, even they cannot stop them completely for the Collective is many while the Servants of the Gods are few.

He pointed towards the west, the rivers flow coming from that direction he pointed at.

To the west is the one who claims these lands his. Count Urkanioff. He has ruled these lands for 3 fathers of mine. He will know of this gift of land and then hear of this gift of insight, he said pointing to the enlightened Slytherin.

He will not be pleased.

The last was said with a level of acceptance but contrary to the words spoken by the Slytherin before, the downtrodden and low morale was not present in that last phrase. Instead, she sensed something she had not sensed in anything said by the Slytherin thusfar.

Hope.

Elise's discerning gaze watched the crowd's reaction as Anastaria empowered the Slytherin into a hardy warrior, and her eye twinkled as she noted the change in demeanor -- in the Elder, yes, but also in those observing. She gave Anastaria a small nod of approval at the action, but her speech was directed toward her fellow deities.

"Hey Barion, this 'Count Urkanioff' guy sounds like he's the strongest one around. You up for checking him out?" She looked at Ember as well. "There might even be some Destruction in store."

She turned back toward Anastaria, but her attention remained on the crowd, watching the changes taking place as they happened. "What do you think, Anastaria? Is your champion there strong enough to protect these folks, or do you think they need others?"

Raising graciously the Slytherin who was before her. Giving him the status of an elite warrior, the changes that took place were dramatic in comparison to the form they had previously a few moments ago. Reassuring them that this was no punishment nor trick as she her head shook lightly.

Looking to Elise as they locked eyes, Anastaria gave a subtle nod back to the Goddess. Giving the Slytherin her attention and a rather warm smile as he questioned her with attentive and fearful eyes.

Anastaria sought to dispel any doubts as she spoke softly. "I shall never take it away that is a promise, otherwise it would not truly be a gift. It is yours to do with as you choose. They are your strength and wisdom now."

In response to the Slytherin's questions of why, Anastaria answered plainly. "I give them to you, because it is only fitting that those who would protect the weak are strong enough to do so. So that you may set yourself free of the bonds of being the protected."

Taking a few steps closer to the raised Slytherin, she slowly moved her arm upwards and placed her hand on his shoulder. "I would not say I have any expectations of you. Instead I hope that you may discover yourself and what is truly important to you more with time. To hope that the devotion to protect your people above yourself, the very same you displayed before a goddess, might continue to remain true. "

Placing her hand back by her side, Anastaria smiled brighter and brushed some of the ebony curls back. "If you instead ask what it is I would request of you. It would be that you might use these gifts for your people and for those who are in need. Helping to guide and show them the way into not just change, but into the light and your redemption. So that you can continue to stand proud as a beacon, but not alone.

Instead as one, with everyone beside you.
" Anastaria then turned to look at all the other Slytherin who bowed, bidding them to raise as she motioned and gestured to them all.

Listening to Elise as she spoke to the other divines and herself, Anastaria shook her head as she smiled softly. "Heavy is the burden of the strong. One could not be expected to carry all that weight upon their shoulders without aid."

"So I shall not abandon them. I will remain as long as I am welcome." Anastaria said that as she then looked at the gathered Slytherin, measuring them as she did.

In reply to Overlord (msg # 63):

"There are more," Tal confirmed at the question of gods, letting that truth be known by Nexa.

"We are the two who felt a need to visit the Flame. Curious. Called. We can for knowledge and to witness it ourselves. As you suggest, you have knowledge that would be useful to us about the Flame and its true purpose, its history and use. What can we offer?" he asked, smiling then as he looked to Diamytron for him to add his own after Tal finished.

"You hinted at one possibility already. This Count that troubles the lands. And you. You deal with his servants when they come, but if that still doesn't discourage him from stopping completely, what happens if in the years ahead he grows in strength enough and determination to send more than a few? An army? A harsh battle that would entail, but one you may survive. Needless though. The gods have returned to the land, so why not make use of our presence? The people claimed the Flame would help protect them if it could be used. If that is possible, might not the Count become a nuisance you no longer need worry about ever again? I'm sure the Hounds could be fed with other things once the area begins to thrive once more," he added with a smile to the beasts.

Sorry about that. I was forgetting about this thread. My bad, considering it IS an important one.

Kairos & Miritas

Kairos spoke his request and the guards saw the flash in his eyes, the tell tale signs of his divinity and stepped back a moment. They looked to one another and one turned, heading within the church to advise of the presence of the two gods while the other remained steadfast before them.

This attracted the attention of others who began to point and mutter about the two and why they were being stopped. This brought forth 4 other guards who were told of what was happening. Two of them began to disperse the crowd, which only brought more attention to them while the 3 remaining stood guard, barring entrance.

After some moments the guard who had left returned, signalling for the two deities to follow. His stance was still one that showed care in case the two deities became dangerous and the 3 guards that had remained there followed, the 4 making the points as they marched the two deities within.

The footsteps of the guards echoed in the halls within. The two deities saw that eyes of all as they entered were on them. Various races were present. They saw that markings within the Cathedral showed symbols of other deities besides that of Ravenos yet those of Ravenos seemed to be the only ones present upon the markings held by those within the Cathedral itself. This may have once been a Cathedral built for the following of a pantheon or many deities, yet now only one seemed to be actively worshiped within.

They were brought before a lion-faced mortal. He stood 7 feet tall, a slight musculature on his frame while his mane was coiffed regally and fell upon his shoulders and down his chest as a great beard.

He looked the two deities, advancing and as he stepped down the 10 steps that brought him from the dais down to the main floor. The guards stopped, took to stepps in opposite directions from the two deities and then turned, weapons drawn and at the ready yet without attacking the two deities. Clearly there was tension within the room and the two deities could sense and feel it as the other members within the large room, priests or other members of the clergy, seeming to be looking on, hands free and a stance showing they were ready for what may come.

I am Cardinal Harhown, Guardian of the Great Flame, Bearer of the All-Sight, Keeper of the Word of Ravenos.

As he spoke his eyes gleamed with divine energy that sparkled as he looked upon the two deities.

You are Trueborns, true Deities?

His words seemed to ease the tension within the room even as they were said with a slight mark of surprise.

What are your names and which Domains serve your will?

The guards had not lowered their stance and the Cardinal made no move to change that, seeming to want to hear what they had to say before changing anything in the actions of others present.

Talramirez & Diamytron

Nexa listened to Tal and laughed a bit.

The Count is no danger to me as long as he understands what will happen if he gets to close. I have lived a long life and know for a fact that the Count will one day be replaced by another and then another. Taking him out would serve no true benefit to me save getting rid of the meat I can supply my hounds during the time a new "Count" is sent to replace the old one.

She poured herself another drink and looked at Tal and Diamytron, the sparkle in her eyes showing the mischievousness in her character as well as the fact she was enjoying the moment.

Deities in their birth are powerful yet will grow more so with time. Right now you probably have little to offer me of interest that I cannot get or make for myself thus I will offer you this: Knowledge for a favor from each of you, to be had when I so deem it time to have that favor honored.

She took a sip and raised a finger.

Before you try and twist words just remember your deities, not Jinn. Play on words and consider my offer off the table and you can leave. A favor without restraint in exchange for the knowledge I have to offer which, I will say, will not disappoint.

She smiled at both of them, enjoying the exchange.

Agreed?

Elise, Anastaria, Ember & Barion

As Anastaria stated that nothing would be asked in return and the powers would remain, her statement of staying was met with looks of curiosity.

You would stay with US?!?

This seemed to cause quite a stir as they seemed surprised and their levels of hope increased dramatically. Yet as Elise spoke to Barion and Ember, asking them to go help in taking on the Count the fear began to return as murmurs asking them to reconsider lest they bring forth the ire of the Count upon them all.

Lassyn, the one who had been enlightened by Anastaria, raised his arms to silence the crowd.

Never have we been granted such gifts without a tax or need met. Never have any ever stood by us as they have thus far. Unlike the others, they ask us not to take on the count but venture to take him on themselves.

We must not hide but stand up for ourselves.

The ones around them nodded, seeming to take his words to heart.

Barion looked on, laughing a bit but Elise's taunt about the Count claiming to be the strongest seemed to have irked his ego as he nodded.

If anyone is willing to walk over those unwilling to fight then their claim of strength and might is a falsehood which needs to be corrected. Aye, I shall join you against this Count. I grow tired of this area anyhow.

Whoever is heading to the Counts "domain" state so. Barion will join you. Those staying here can state what they do here while those going elsewhere can state that as well. The mortals will point you in the right direction to head towards the Counts domain.

The Nexus (Caelum Realm)

"Well met, Sightbearer", offered Kairos politely, though his wings unfurled and stretched a little to emphasise his stature. Dappled light fell upon them and his marginallly unveiled domain, his eyes focused on the cardinal of the cathedral in this moment, though they had taken in the space and its singular worship as they had been brought to him, "I am Kairos, Lord of Dreams. I walk with Miritas, who claims Fear to his own"

"You need not these mortal threats", he continued softly, his rich tones and storytellers intonations seeking to calm the situation further, "Indeed, my brother might consider it impolite"

Glancing up from the cardinal's eyes, which he had held thus far, he drew their attention to the cathedral in which they said, "I see the signs of many here, but all voices look to Ravenos... or mutter of this Collective, this Trinity..."

The Nexus (Caelum Realm)

Elise suppressed her pleased smile at Barion's reaction. Although headstrong and disdainful of mortals, he was direct and uncomplicated in a way that felt refreshingly... easy. She had said her piece on the matter; she only gave Anastaria a nod of respect and goodbye. She cast a curious glance at Ember, but otherwise stood with Barion. She wanted to see this 'Count' for herself... and a few things more.

Arriving on the opposite bank, Xeslin took in his surroundings. Trying to find a location to spark his interest.

The Nexus (Caelum Realm)

Lizardfolk were the more common race as they scurried about to hide from anyone close while the others were of various races unknown to him, moving into or out of the doorway of the ruins as they headed out into the wild of the Nexus.

None seemed to take particular attention to him as he approached the gates.

Kairos & Miritas

The Cardinal looked at Miritas and the mention of his Domain. Miritas simply looked at him with his unwavering stare, his own flash of divinity sparkly his features.

The Cardinal did not seem phased but others present seemed to buckle slightly at Miritas claim of Domain and current stare.

While this place was once a Cathedral to the Pantheon, only Ravenos remains present within the Nexus.... that is, until your arrival.

The Cardinal seemed not unhappy by your presence but nor enthused by it.

Yet now that you have arrived and are present, I must ask if there are more of you and how it is you came to be here. Did you manifest yourself here through a portal or gate or did you travel the Perpetuam to arrive here?

The question seemed to be of importance, especially the one about how you got here.

Elise & Barion

With Anastaria and Ember remaining here, Barion and Elise took to the area which they were pointed to that supposedly housed the home of the Count Urkanioff.

They would not need to traverse the river but instead travel somewhat back the way they came from yet from the southern side of the small hills that had come from. The travel would take some time, they were told, atleast 3-4 weeks on foot yet little did they know of the speed at which deities could travel.

The two set out, Barion seeming to want to challenge Elise as much as he could in terms of feats of physicality, in her case speed of travel as he seemed to be sure she had no true ability to beat him in tests of endurance or strength. Barion was a deity made for combat, strength being his main attribute. He seemed to enjoy showing this off and while Elise could not beat him in the physical aspects, she saw that his mannerisms were above any mortal, yes, but well below her own.

Still it made the travel at first enjoyable as she watched him show off what he could achieve and speak of how he had dominated those within the realm of Dakalnar, taking on a role of ruler for the humans that dominated the area he had come forth in. Yet as he spoke she could tell he seemed bored of such tasks, seeing the menial needs of humans as a bother to his true desires: to test himself.

In fact that seemed to be what drove Barion: The want to test his capabilities against other foes.

Their travel was uneventful with the conversation growing stale after some time. With no foes to fight Barion grew bored quickly and with their stories told he had little to offer. He was interested in what she spoke of when speaking of the Arokin, seeming interested in knowing more about them such as their location, fighting capabilities and how they seemed to view the world around them.

For his part, he spoke a lot about what HE had done on Dakalnar but little about the humans themselves. Their worship was expected, in his view, as he was the strongest among them and while they seemed to view him as such they were needy, in his view. What they found dangerous was lowly for him to fight against. Yet their faith brought him some more power and thus he tolerated their whims. He spoke about how he empowered 5 of them, pitting them against one another to see who would dominate and empowering the victor more so to then take him on. He was still to weak to challenge Barion himself, a pity according to Barion, but he now served him as the commander of his personal guard. Not that he needed one, yet he hoped the human would learn some things from his presence and be a better challenge some time later.

When asked what the humans name was, Barion shook his shoulders. He knew not, not truly caring as it did not seem important.

The boyish deity she had first seen was clearly a child at heart but a spoiled one in temperment.

=================================

The land itself was barren much like they had seen earlier until Xeslin had given life to it. Small shrubs or plants were seen here and there but for the most part their was no life that flourished. Life survived, that was all.

They passed a few groupings of Slytherins on their way to their destination, those they came upon cowering or hiding from their view as best they could. Barion only seemed to feel disdain for such actions. Yet they were able to point, when they did answer, where the Count resided.

After 3 weeks they came to their destination. A keep stuck atop a lifted crevice of land. It had only one way to be reached unless one wanted to climb a steep cliff. The keep was like a slanted jagged dagger stabbed into the crevice itself. As they approached they saw that the land around the bottom of the crevice, about half a kilometer surrounding it all around, was flush with flora. Trees and animals they had never seen before seemed to be walking about freely here. The greenery began where the dust ended and was clearly farmed to be as such for the distinction between the vegetation and the dry land was clearly cut.

Many Slytherins seemed to be taking care of the land while a large town with much activity was present at the bottom of the route leading to the keep at the bottom of the precipice. To go to the keep would mean to go through the town. That was the only way unless you wanted to try your hand at climbing the precipice. Elsie new that, physically, Barion would have no issue doing this but she would be unable to do so even if she was a deity.

The Nexus (Caelum Realm)

In reply to Overlord (msg # 72):

For a time, Elise was happy to indulge Barion in racing -- mostly to keep him happy and engaged. She considered summoning her familiar, if only to give Barion a more suitable opponent against which to test himself, but she decided against it. For the time being, she was content to let him judge her based on what he could see... which, admittedly, was not much.

She did not have to feign interest in his stories about Dakalnar, however; to this she paid rapt attention, and asked questions that would both allow him to showcase his physical prowess as well as provide her with a bit more information to assess how likely his people would be a threat to her own in the near future. This thought proved prescient, as he began asking about the combat capabilities of the Arokin. She did not provide information on their location, for she could not -- she had barely traveled the few provinces in which they lived and hunted, and thus she knew nothing of the regions beyond. As for fighting capabilities, however, she demurred. The Arokin were nomadic hunter/gatherers, loosely organized in small tribes that squabbled like children. They were not soldiers. Anyway, she described her efforts to teach them to sing together and play instruments, expecting Barion to  lose interest quickly. She smiled wryly as she thought back on how much she'd fought the Arokin assumptions of what she would or wouldn't know (or be able to do) because of her sex; now, however, she leaned into those preconceptions in order to deflect intrusive questions. Instead, she pointed out that she was a Goddess of Passion and Desire -- what would she know of fighting and conflict? That was Barion's area of expertise, after all.

Instead, she did ask if he could sing, and teased that she should challenge him to a contest of song, just as he had challenged her to a contest of speed. She did not press the point, however; just as he had his strengths, she had hers. So, as the conversation fell off and Barion's mood turned sulky with boredom, Elise began to sing. She made it up as she went, basing it loosely on the stories he'd told her of his activities with his followers as well as what she could observe from him directly -- of the importance of conquest and raw strength, of the thrill of the challenge, of honorable triumph over worthy foes.

For the most part, she took the lead when speaking with the Sytherins. Barion didn't bother to hide his contempt, so Elise played good cop to his bad, using her Instant Rapport to gather the information they needed to find the place they were seeking. When they finally arrived at the keep, Elise was quite frankly relieved; after three weeks, even she had found practical limits to her Desire to sing.

"So, how do you want to do this?" she asked, as her eyes roamed over the cliffs, the town, and the road leading up to the keep. "While there's unlikely to be any worthy physical challenge within the town, there will probably be useful information."

The Nexus (Caelum Realm)

Tal looked thoughtful as he considered Nexa's offer, glancing over to Diamytron to gauge the other deity's consideration of the knowledge on the table. As Nexa said, their powers would surely grow and a little - useful - knowledge right now might go a long way.

"I am tempted to accept your offer. Though a favor 'unrestrained' could be worrisome. No twisting of words or the like, but what would stop you from asking for something detrimental if not harmful to ourselves, our realms or our followers? Or that might break any oaths or other favors that had been granted? You could bind us into a paradox quite nicely if you so desired," he points out, but does show a bit of a smile as he adds.

"Though you have been straight forward with us thus far, so I am disinclined to think you might ask for such a favor; but it is something that has to be spoken of to safeguard the future. If none of that is intended for your future favor, I'd be agreeable to all else," he states. A small constraint on the unlimited future favor that was being asked. One that on its face would hopefully be acceptable. After all, what being would grant someone the power to order their own execution (or worse) with such an 'unrestrained favor' otherwise?

The Nexus (Caelum Realm)

“We woke here, in this Realm and in others besides”, offered Kairos thoughtfully and slowly, wondering how much a mortal mind might be able to conceive, “We needed no portal nor gate, this Realm is … in a way … our birth- place”

Nearly he said ‘birthright’ but he was feeling his way here. Instead, he studied the Cardinal for a moment, seeking to understand the mortal better, then added, “I believe there were nine of us”
