Re: OOC Idle Chatter
Yeah, amylases in our saliva came to mind, but they’re bush league compared to pit vipers and they are nothing compared to spiders.
Pet peeve, the entire thing about Cleopatra committing suicide via asp could only have been written by someone who never saw one in the first place. Shakespeare, for example. It surely refers to an Egyptian cobra, which is a massive snake whose bite is excruciating.
But ancient texts getting biology wrong isn’t exactly unique. There are plenty of basic facts wrong in the Bible, but I will never forgive the ancient Jews. Kashrut has errors, but GRASSHOPPERS DO NOT HAVE 4 LEGS. FLYING INSECTS DO NOT HAVE 4 LEGS. CRICKETS DO NOT HAVE 4 LEGS. THEY HAVE 6. SIX. VAV. WAW. HEX. VI. 110. I RAN OUT OF NUMERALS. BUT NOT 4!!!
I’m a bit touchy when it comes to entomology. It’s subtle, so I should point it out.
