Ohhh.  A slide 'n shoot.  I'll try to arrange for a slow motion fireball to chase her down a corridor.

You make like James Brown and slide on your knees while filing the guard station full of hot lead...er...plasma.

It turns out to be a good call.  The guard is on his belly, gun aimed upwards.

Both of you hit...

The blast knocks you backwards.  But you manage to do a get your feet under you.  You slam into the wall, but you're able to stay upright.  You're back feels like you just tried to block the New Orleans Saints Offensive Line all by yourself.

The guard seems to be down now.  Really down.

From the elevator shaft you hear some explosions and sounds of shots fired.  The heroes are really making good time.

Aubrey flew through the air and managed to get her feet under her. The only cost was her body as she felt like she took hit like in football or hit by a car. She breathed out trying to focus her mind. Hearing the sound of combat got Aubrey moving. She checked the guard and she looks for keys and if he has shoelaces she ties him to the desk. She then moves with caution looking into the cells for Charlie

No reason to tie his shoelaces. He won't be getting up again.

The hall past the door runs straight back until it dead ends.  There are five doors on each side, spaced far enough apart to be individual rooms.

Six of the doors are open.  Through the spy hole, Bree can see:

A woman in one cell wearing jeans and a t-shirt,

A man in Scales uniform except for the mask in another,

A middle aged man in what looks like a grayish form fitting body suit with a lightning symbol on the chest,

and a young man who is just standing in the middle of his cell, looking up at the light.

Lightning Bolt looks familiar.  It takes you a second to realize.  It's Whirl.  Charlie's partner.

Aubrey feels her side as she moves through the hallway. She is a little perplexed that even though she hurts like hell, that she isn't bleeding all over the place.  The armor is amazing and makes her feel like.... she isn't even sure what that feeling is. She checks the peep holes rapidly trying to figure out if she is going to let all of them go or a few. Her mind finally clicks and she tries to open the door for Whirl

"Whirl i'm here to rescue you and Condor... Where is he?"

She speaks in her normal voice not hiding her female side.

Whirl tries sitting up, but a look of pain flashes across his face.  You notice now:  one of his legs isn't laying like it should be.  It's been broken and juts out to one side.

Whirl is obviously in a lot of pain. But he seems to be trying to stay in the here and now.

"Who...what? Condy?

"They took him...said somethin' about wantin' to know about the...potato sack...guy..."

You can hear more explosions.  They're getting louder.

Aubrey whipped her head around towards the noise and back to Whirl. If there is anything she can use to set his leg, wood desk leg, shoelaces etc She will prop the door open and try to get his leg at least set.

"When did they take him? Who took him? Did you see which way they went? What can you tell me about what is happening? Why is this sack head guy so important? The other people should we open their jail cells and try to work together or will it be better to open their doors and letting him get helped by the hero's attacking this base? If I can set this leg, you can put on the guard's uniform and help me get Condor back"

"Sack Guy is...I dunno.  He's been turnin' up lately.  We've been tryin' to find him.  Condy said...it was personal.  Somethin' about the lady he's seeing.  All I know is there's a lotta people wanna find him.

"I dunno who all is here.  We shouldn't...heroes may not find this place.  Or there may be a bomb set to go off.  You should...make your own call on whether to let them out or not..."

You manage to break off the legs from a stool in one of the other cells and use the dead guard's belt to set Whirl's leg.  But as you do it, you notice the track marks.  They didn't just break his leg.  They doped him.  He's not going to get out of here by himself.

The woman in jeans and the Scales uniform guy both realize you're out there.  They're staring at you through the windows in their doors and pounding their fists on the door.  But you can't hear what they're saying.

Lightning Bolt comes to the window and looks at you once.  He smirks then walks back to the cot in his room, laying down.

The kid staring at the light hasn't stopped staring at it.

Aubrey was trying to not get caught in this location for too long. But she never considered that the hero's would blow the place up. She had to let the others go. Maybe they would know a way out of the maze and if luck was on her side perhaps they would have a clue where they might have taken Charlie. She decides to let them all go but not let her guard down. Any of them could turn on her. She opens the woman's door first then goes to the Scale uniform then the kid. She ties to find out if they know a way out, if they can help get Whirl out with them and if they have any clue which direction they may have taken Condor.

The woman gives you an odd smile.  She blows you a kiss.

"The guy with the wings?  Only know they dragged his sorry ass outta here a couple of hours ago.  Later toots."  She rushes out the door.

The Scalers comes out shaking his head.  "Are you with Ops?  What are you doing here?  Who sent you?"  He looks like he's been beaten up pretty bad.  But he's tough.  He's not letting it get to him.  "The winged guy?  I don't know much.  He's a Cape in town, right?  If they wanted something outta him, they would've taken him to the main nest.  They have a private airport somewhere outside town.  The tram line goes there.  If you can get a car to run.  Otherwise..."  He shrugs. "You tell me what your priority is, maybe we can work together to get out."

The kid doesn't even look at you.  He just keeps staring at the light.

Lightning Guy is still in his cell.  I didn't see where you opened his door.  Opening it?

Aubrey does the little wave and calls back to the girl as she rushes out the door.

"Remember you owe me tootsie"

Turning back to the Scaler she listened and tried to understand. He was part of a cult that made you feel like others didn't care and they cared so much. So what would get you put in the jail and how would that affect everything you did. Would you try to do something to prove to them of your value or would you see the faults in their lines.

"The objective is to rescue the winged guy. Do you know the paths to get to the nest that would lead up to rescuing him?  Where is the location of the airport? (She could get her brother to check out that angle. If there was too many maybe he could get a tracker on the plane) What are you called and how did you end up in this room?"

Aubrey opens the door for the Lightning guy and goes through the same thing she did with the others though him being all in lightening stuff she is half expecting him to dash off. Gathering what info she could and trying to find someone to help get the kid and Whirl to safety

Only that there's a tram line that goes to it.  Honestly, that was one of the things that I was trying to find out."

"I know," says Lightning Guy, finally strolling out of his cell.  "I know how to get there.  I'd be willing to take you."

Lightning Guy has a big shit eatting grin on his face.  Like there's a big joke in here somewhere.

Scales looks at you and shrugs. He doesn't seem to know anything about Lightning Guy or what the joke is.

"I see safety deposit boxes," mumbles the kid staring at the light.

Scales rolls his eyes.  "Okay.  Look.  You did me a favor.  I'll take care of Whirl and this kid.  Is it the Commandos comin' this way?  I can let 'em know to come pick us up.  So if you wanna run ahead and do what ya gotta, go on."

He cuts a look at Lightning Guy then back at you.

She moves next to the kid, not sure what meds the kid was on

"Sweetheart these  to men are going to try and rescue you. Maybe when you are feeling better I can go with you to look at those safety boxes.  But right now we need you to come back, be fairly quiet and help this team get topside"

After getting back she looks at Mr lightening

"Don't be psycho and maybe that old saying the foe of my foe is my bro will hold true.  But don't f with me Lightning. I'm a crazy b and i'm much better in life as a bro then a foe"

Aubrey glances at the ceiling

"Man ...they are getting close"

Aubrey makes a quick sweep of anything to wear over her other gear in the girls room and if found she changes out of looking like a Scale. She tries to mask her features but if Lightning is going with the hostage scene, she doesn't want to be confused as a Scale when the hero's come in. She'll change back (or not change) if Lightning wanted her to be a hostage Scale and she just totally missed his thoughts. Her thoughts is that the "borrowed" uniform is better away from her then near her at this point. In fact if she is leaving it behind she will burn it.

"Let's try to avoid the hero's and the scales.. let's go"

"I gotta be me..." Lightning says when you bring up 'psycho'.

But he mock bows and gestures towards the door.  "After you Milady Crazy B"

The only way out of the brig is back the way you came.  Thankfully the elevator is still working.  You don't see IRS and Whiz.  They must have already hightailed it while you were chatting with your new 'partner'.

Lighting points down the hall.  "Come on..."

There aren't many Scales left fleeing at this point. A few do.  They take side tunnels or head up ladders.  Lightning ignores them all and takes a stairwell heading down.

The two of you come out on a tram line station.  It's not the one you started at, but it looks about the same.  The Heroes haven't gotten here yet.  The Scales are mounting up a cannon battery, one Scale barking out orders.

Lightning clicks his tongue. "Damn. Looks like we missed the tram line.  I doubt one will come through here now."

He looks back at you.  "There are three options now.  We head.."  He points down the tram tunnel.  "I know the line decently. So I should be able to get us there through the tram tunnels.  Problem is:  if a train does come through, we got nowhere to run.  So we'd be taking a chance of the light at the end of the tunnel being an oncoming locamotive.

"Option 2.  We go overland.  Or in this case, over tunnel.  It's a longer haul and we gotta move it.  They'll be evacuating as soon as they can up at the port.  If we go overland, we have to make it through two more sub bases.  I don't know what kinda resistance we'll met.

"Last Option.  We try to take these guys out."
He nods at the Scales setting up the battery.  There are about twenty of them.

"The CO will have an emergency call box.  We should be able to to call up an escape pod.  We'd have to jury rig it.  But we could get it to take us there.

"How crazy you wanna get Milady B?"

Aubrey looked over the men and thought about her options. Taking on 20 guys with someone she didn't know their fighting ability was a huge gamble.  She wanted to fight. Feel that release in doing something that took all that fear and anxiety and put it to motion. But could she take out 10 guys, her fair half. Maybe with the flash but it would drain a lot of the battery and she may need it to scout when they got closer to her destination (does the flash eat the whole battery or a portion?).

"How well do you fight L, looking to subdue them not kill the men do you have jury rig ability?"

Aubrey sighs

"If not then we need to consider the fastest route to out target. Is it possible to short out the line so that we can head down the tunnel but we make it safe by shorting it out. Explosive or damage to the line there must be some safe guard that makes it so the train can't run us over"

Lightning raises an eyebrow, confused at your question.  "Why wouldn't I want to kill them?"

He listens to your suggestion and then stares down at the rail lines.  "Actually...yeah.  Yeah we can.  Cover me."

He steps off the platform and lands on the rails.  No one has noticed him at the moment.

That ends when he reaches down, grabs the rail and pulls, lifting and tearing the metal in a shower of sparks.  Blue electricity runs over his well muscled arms like oil on a Turkish wrestler.  Doesn't seem to bother him though.

The Scales on the platform are turning around.

"What tha hell are you doin'!?!"

You can move before they notice you're with Lightning.

To answer your question on the flash, I believe it will drain the battery to about 20%.  You can recharge, but that requires a power source and about five minutes.

(Have I ever heard of Lightning before?)

Aubrey smiles at L and his confusion

"They may not be totally evil just misguided and lied to. Like sheep or something us as a society have failed on. Maybe they can be redeemed and get on with life and find a purpose that is rewarding and not a leech on society. That is the reason to not kill. But if it comes down to protecting yourself.... it is what it is and it happens"

Aubrey digs her nail into her hand as she hears what she said and tries to not think of the guard at the desk.

As the plan develops Aubrey hears Lightning talk about covering him and she goes to business.  If she can toss something in another direction to cause a disturbance away from them to draw the guards attention she'll do that. If there is nothing and it is a small group of men that she can go over and knock out (try) with the help of her amazing security ball with a chance of not alerting another group she'll do that or if it is a general mass of guards all in the same area and they are becoming aware of them then she'll tell Lightning to close his eyes and she will do and do the flash. (hopefully that all makes sense and she doesn't harm her own group... live and learn :) )

Lightning's actions pretty much have all eyes on him.  The only distraction that might work is if the heroes suddenly showed up.  Or they thought the heroes were about to show up.

You estimate you'd have to take down at least eight guys, quick and hard.  The other twelve would regroup pretty quick.

The flash is probably the best option.

Given what you outlined, I'd say the flash is the best option.

Alternatively, you can try to BS your way out.  But as to how you'd go about that, I'd have to leave to you.

If a fight breaks out, you'll probably have to take on all 20 of these guys.

The flash is not as advertised.  It's even more awesome.

Even with your eyes firmly shut, it's like having a flood light turned on, shining in your face.

You hear a number of groans and muffled curses.

Then someone is grabbing your arm.  "Come on!  We gotta go!"

Lightning is dragging you off the platform and down the tunnel.

"If you don't wanna mix it up with them, we need to move!  And what the hell was that anyway?  Is that a supernova in your pocket, or are you just glad to see me?"

You can hear cries behind you.  The Scales are still flailing away in blindness.  But their CO has a brain.  He's giving them instructions to turn on their targeting goggles.

Apparently their uniforms have targeting goggles.

Lighning tsks.  "Okay.  Hold on."

Without waiting for a reply, he scoops you up princess style and suddenly...

There's a brief feeling like you're coming apart.  But the pain passes so quickly, you aren't even sure it's real.

The two of you are in a rail line tunnel, but it seems like you're further along down it than you thought.  You can't see the platform any longer and there's no sign of anyone else.

Lightning almost dumps you on the ground and then sags to his knees.

"Okay.  Gimme a minute.  I need to catch my breath."

He takes a deep breath than looks up at you.  "So.  What's your name.  Really."

Aubrey felt euphoria. The flash was AMAZING and beyond what she had expected. She wasn't sure of the success but that little fact was not going to get in her way. Aubrey felt her arm grabbed and at first her stomach dropped. How did they get to them so fast?!! But then her brain connected the voice to L and she didn't fight. She wasn't sure if they would be able to take down that many men so she ran.

"I'm growing fond of you, I think i'm glad to see you. I'm not sure what i'm going to name it yet. Spidey was crushed and I'm not sure of my mental health if I name them and they get destroyed."

Aubrey heard the instructions for the targeting goggles.

"Crap...the have targeting goggles...that sounds ominous"

Aubrey held on and without warning she was lifted like a princess and... moved? It was painful but by the time she thought, this is painful, it was over and the painful moment seemed like a far off dream. Aubrey lands on her feet and tries to hold his arm to help him get to the ground safely.

Giving him a moment to collect himself Aubrey watches him with nurse trained eyes looking for how she can help him

"L... your ability is beautiful. I know weird word and all. I just hope you never let anyone say differently to you. Thank you for that...cause it took a lot out of you so I'm honored that you would do that for me. Aubrey or Brie is my name. My brothers call me brat, you?"

You spot the marker he was talking about.  E 25.

"Shit.  We're going the wrong way and way off course."  Lloyd turns and starts walking the other way.

"Keep an eye out for markers reading N or S.  We need to hit the North/South line.  We've got to head to N 14.  There will be a platform there with an express elevator to the air field."

He glances at you.  "Don't worry too much.  They won't be able to evacuate anyone until the raid is over.  The govies and the heroes will be on the look out for unusual flights and truck convoys.  Scales won't risk losing VIPs.  Whether they're officers or prisoners.  Like your boyfriend."
