After the Battle

Narrator:
that silver and ivory document holder retails for $800, sold to Mischa of twight house directly for $400 even after he dismantled it.

OOC:  Dilandua wasn't planning to sell the documents case to him... but that's fine, we can go with that.

Re: After the Battle

"My willingness to help remains, though I have nearly concluded that there is little I can do there other than strike something with my staff or fire a bolt from my crossbow.  Only spells that create something real will extend beyond my person and last longer than a blink -- and the only ones of those that I know are for light, water, and fire.  And I doubt created fire will persist there without fuel to burn."

Re: After the Battle

"I think I've mentioned that I'm -- er, I was an apprentice.  If you've apprenticed at anything you know that most of that life is doing productive work for your master, with the expectation that you'll learn your trade in the process.

"For mages, there's more formal instruction than for, say, a shoemaker or blacksmith, because my childhood obsession aside, one must learn about magic in order to learn magic -- and the studies of Thaumatology, Alchemy, Hidden Lore and the like require considerable time spent reading and researching -- but my actual job as an apprentice was research in the Guild library, and that's where I spent nearly all of every day.  There's a good reason so many old mages have a permanent squint, or wear spectacles, or have a nervous habit of popping out those little floating Lights that are one of the simplest of spells."

Re: After the Battle

"I think I might have gone that direction eventually, but as an apprentice one learns what one's master needs.  We all learn some basics -- I can Create and Extinguish a fire, as you've seen, cast Light visible to all or only to mages, use a magical Flash to blind opponents, Seek, Purify, and Create Water, and Apport -- but I can also know precisely how large something is, directions, where I am, what the local mana level is, whether objects are magical, and I can Memorize things by magic and Remember my Path in unfamiliar places -- that last one was very helpful in the Guild archives, they're huge and very haphazardly laid out; comes with centuries of 'Oh, we need more shelves'.

"The masters tell of an advanced apprentice who got lost in the archives for three weeks.  I was never sure if the tale was true or merely instructive, but I and the other research apprentices were pretty careful to keep our back-path fresh.  Chalked arrows are no help, after centuries of apprentices; any given shelf stack might have a hundred arrows on it, pointing both ways, in a dozen colors, plus a dozen or more different Mystic Marks.  You can't carry a big enough ball of string to be of much use, and if everyone did that the place would look like a spider's lair.  I think most of the research apprentices used something similar to what I did, either Remember Path or Find Path."

Re: After the Battle

Dilandua returns as suddenly as they disappeared, "These three books are in Latin, I suspect Virgilio can translate, but these documents may be magically trapped.  They have been neither opened, nor disturbed other than to remove them from the container they were in."

Dilandua then disperses the payout from the document case sale and the horses...

Narrator:
no decision has been made regarding the documents, Dilandua has been avoiding getting a ranking guild member to translate.

OOC:  No, Dilandua was avoiding having anyone other than the Guild open them...

Mage's Staves$3420After Analyze Magic castings
Mage's Horses$1800
Document case$400
Total$5620

Payout:  $899 to Aegis, Alice, Dilandua, Dne, Reanna, Virgilio, $226 to Guillaume.

Unknown
2 Scrolls
Wax Sealed Letter
3 Spellbooks, Latin

Re: After the Battle

Dilandua:
Not listed:
4 horses, 3 injured Mage Guild Horses, 1 Saddle Horse.  Dilandua has no real issue with Reanna doing as she or the group wants with them, sell them, stable them for future missions, etc.  Your call.

[EDIT]
The saddle horse we bought is worth $1,200, would have a resale value of $720 if the Guild is willing to buy, or $300 if you have to sell elsewhere.  The injured horses will probably go for around $260 (injured, stolen) with the Guild (if they'll buy them), $172 elsewhere.  If you opt to keep them, it'll cost some amount to have their brands altered (probably about $120), will cost $150 a week to stable them ($450 for all three ex-Mage Guild horses), and they'll probably need at least one week stabling to heal up.

They could also probably be sold to the meat markets for a couple hundred each and would instantly solve the "branding" and healing issues...

If you think we'll have another 'away' mission, it might be worth stabling the saddle horse for a day or two.  If you think away missions will become a 'way of life', it might be worth trying to keep the Mage's Guild horse, maybe.
[/EDIT]

4 locked books and Sealed Documents Case carried by Diulandua.

Crossbow, Quiver, 20 Bolts on Virgilio.  Whatever Personal Basics, Bedroll, Tent, etc, Virgilio decided to take.

Mission Payout:  8,000$ - 1,600$ advance = 6,400$/5 ways (Aegis, Alice, Dilandua, Dne, Reanna) = $1,280 per share

Loot Payout:  $4,186 per full share (Aegis, Alice, Dilandua, Dne, Reanna, Virgilio), $1046 for a quarter share (Guillaume).

Totals$5,466 for Aegis, Alice, Dilandua, Dne, Reanna; $4,186 for Virgilio; $1,280 for Guillaume (which would equate to roughly one and 1/2 month's pay).

So this is in addition to the above quote for the total mission payout, right?

OOC:  Yes, the $899 is additional.  And doesn't count the spellbooks, two scrolls, or sealed letter.

Re: After the Battle

OOC:  The spellbooks will retail for $216 each, or $648 for all three, for an additional:
Payout:  $104 to Aegis, Alice, Dilandua, Dne, Reanna, Virgilio, $26 to Guillaume.

If Virgilio (or anyone else) wants to negotiate getting them 'quickly' translated and then decides to keep them, 1 - Talk to the GM, and then 2 - Deduct the cost of the books you want to keep from your money.
