Re: The Alchemist's Lair

"All of that to do what a simple Purify Water could do?  A wizard could make the pipe do it, but Holiness and I would just do it as we filled each bucket.  I guess if you don't have magic of your own, or from a god, like we do?"  The younger sister's eyes suddenly get wide.

"Alchemist McNealy, you don't have magic of your own?  How do you make magic potions, then?"

"Alchemy is a function of exacting process and the inherent and symbolic qualities of rarified materials combined in a metaphysical configuration that allows the substrate and solvent to trancend and transmogrify into a solution imbued by the great art.  It requires no inborn condition of the practicioner, but careful and exacting practice according to secret formuae."

"Hmmm?  Door?  Jednesa not know, show where door."

She gets up, she's taken off her poncho, skirt, and harness and is only wearing her loincloth and the adamant chain and pendant.  She drags the harness, it's pouches, and the handaxe/mace behind her following Masugatan.

Elaina pulls out the tent pole that's been wedged under her pack and lowers the lighted end to illluminate under the bed, while bending to look from a couple yards away.

Does somebody have a torch?  If so, Masugatan asks to borrow it, then drops down and looks under the bed, ready to scramble back if necessary.

Re: The Alchemist's Lair

The younger sister is holding a six foot tent pole, one end lit as bright as a torch (but without risk of accidental fires) and positioned to illuminate under the bed.

"Is this enough light, or do you need to hold the pole?"

Re: The Alchemist's Lair

Jednesa examines the door carefully, checking to see if it opens inward or outward, what is it made from, where are the hinges, lock type, etc... everything a good door-basher takes note of before smashing open a door.

the door is iron with hinges on one side, and an integral lock next to a handle.

Masugatan can see a large and heavily bound book under the bed.
