Re: The Beast of Veroigne

In reply to Narrator (msg # 894):

Kirpich has some idea what he is doing...

Though personally I would call for civil engineering, Architecture is what the rules call for. Actually, Basic rules seem unusually inaccurate with regards to building design, civil engineering and architecture...in reality they have a LOT of overlap, at least in Australia. Are they radically different in other parts of the world? Basic has Architecture defaulting to CE-4 and CE defaulting to Architecture-6, which will be the same as IQ for a new graduate, or skill of 1 or 2 points. That basically says you have to be really skilled as an architect to have ANY benefit to Civil Engineering from Architecture training. That seems out of kilter to me.

It also seems weird that Civil Engineers in Aus sign of on new building designs, but Basic has this role as an architect, defaulting to CE-4. Makes me wonder about the process in the rest of the world?

Of course, not relevant to the game. Rules are in Basic pretty clearly. Just personal curiosity.

[Private to GM: Rolled 5 under IQ, default for Architecture exactly.]

Re: The Beast of Veroigne

In reply to Kirpich Rockson (msg # 895):

In part the architecture skill also includes Connoisseur, architectural styles, and has basic things like how to make an arch or recognize unsafe construction, and places where there might be hiddden areas.  CE, which is really a TL5+ skill has a lot more to it  abd involves more math.

Might be worth him doing some studies at some point...

But for now, he does more practical work in the basement.

He also brings his gear in and looks for a place to spread his gear, he glances toward where Hannatti is but  doesn't assume he should get too close with out some sign that it is OK..

Posting a guard and having holy symbols ready to be presented. Garlic will be inside in case they get that far. Holy water ready, and a handful of collected grains that Aethul gathered ready in case something gets inside the door. Did I miss anything?

OOC: Close the door and any windows? Holy water? Lock doors and windows? Wooden wedges? Some sort of alarm on the same?

Re: The Beast of Veroigne

OOC: I don't think we should lock the door, honestly. We are trying to make an ambush for the vampires. Maybe we shouldn't even set up a guard outside. Just let the door be open and have someone waiting inside next to the door to hammer the enemy once they step in.
But yeah keep the holy water, stakes etc ready. Balir has his readied in his belt.
Maybe we shouldn't dump the seeds or whatever it was the they had to count until we start feeling the pressure. That could give us a bit of time there.

There are no windows and the door can be barred but not locked, it is a stone box with 12 foot ceilings, a stone floor and is 12 feet wide by 24 feet long.

Hannati shakes her head, "Wake me when it's my turn to watch inside. I'll not be standing outside in the dark." She settles down for sleep. The sooner they sleep, the sooner the morning comes.
