Thanks. I went on an eight mile hike this morning, which may have been a bit ambitious considering how steep it was. I guess they don't call them the Green Mountains for nothing. :) But after a nap I was back to normal. I think tomorrow I'll do a shorter hike, since I also need to drive back home (another 4+ hours).

I actually view this as beneficial destruction.  Francis Fukuyama asserts that while most of the world suffers from having inadequate or weak institutions, that the US suffers from the reverse.  Our civic religion is such that our institutions are largely unalterable even when it's fairly obvious that they need altering.  What's happening right now is just the right amount of crisis to stimulate meaningful reform.  It took the depredations of the Gilded Age to the to the Progressive Era after all.

A question from Krackor has prodded me into making a decision I've been mulling for some time.

I am no longer going to charge you for mundane travel/lifestyle expenses.

It's just a hassle that I don't want to deal with. Restocking supplies, paying gate fees, staying in average inns, stuff like that no longer costs gold. Equipment, and anything out of the ordinary, will cost money. So staying at an inn, no problem. Specifically staying at the best inn in town, I'll charge you.

I am also not going to worry about keeping track of arrows for you archers. Now, if we ever do an extended wilderness campaign (you all decide to go to Chult, or get stuck in the Underdark), then sure. But you've got plenty of chances to restock as you go through, or back to, towns.

Hopefully this will cut down on some of the clutter that's been nagging at the back of my mind.

As an option for normal lifestyle expenses, there could simply be a monthly cost.  Normal living and resupply could be some specific amount of gold deducted from the coffers each game month.  Anything above and beyond would, of course, cost more.  I've done this in games before and it worked out pretty simply.

I'm perfectly okay with free though.  Just putting that out there.

I thought about that, and while I do keep track of the days and months, it was just going to be too annoying to set some cost level and then remember to remind everyone to deduct it every time we tick over to a new month. So free it is. :)

Krackor, what specifically are you praying for?

Also, you can't memorize a level 1 spell in a level 2 slot. So if you wanted to memorize Augury, that would give Gorm an easier way of  pointing the way.

Sorry, I tried to update this today, but I'm still recovering from this morning's migraine and I couldn't make things make sense. I'll update tomorrow.

So it turns out that there are still hotels that don't have internet. I just got back from one last night. Lovely place, up in New Hampshire where all the trees are changing colors. But it does make it hard to post. :)
