HANGAR DEC #14

Angela nodded to Nikki as she broke off, heading up the ladder to the cockpit before stepping off onto the wing and making her way back to the panel she had off earlier. it wasn't long before she had the part swapped over and secured and was slipping herself into the cockpit after setting the old fuel regulator, which is twice the size of the new one and clearly made of gathered items and crudely fastened together, on a rag on the wing. "Just about, going to see how she sounds now," she said sitting down and flipping switches. She plugged her earpiece in behind her ear again as the turbines roared to life. to everyone else, it would sound like a normal jet engine firing up, but to her, there was a large difference in how it started and sounded.

the engine shut off and slowed to a low hum as she exited the cockpit, making sure to pull a small box from the console still attached to the wire leading up to her ear. climbing down carefully before jumping the rest of the way and turning to Nikki with a grin "Ready for the sims." She said reaching up to get the old part and then taking it to the bench in front of her craft

"Purrs like a kitten" Nikki gave a thumbs up. When Angela asked about the SIMS "Yep.  Already.  Been thinking of a few new ones to try." she started for the lifts.

HANGAR DEC #14

——> Rec Dec

After crossing the hangar dec at a brisk pace Tarja would enter the compound and head for a set of neatly arranged crates near the back ”Bjarne where are uniforms kept?” Tarja would call across to the burly technician who was currently enjoying a cup of coffee and chatting with some of the off duty dec hands as they played a game of cards ”top left” Bjarne called back without looking up from his hand.

Rifling through the crates for a few minutes Tarja would turn and hand Ellen a small pile of folded clothing including the black undergarment, olive green coveralls with the unit insignia, and a pair of combat boots with a zip running up the instep ”Hair is to be kept short or tied back into bun or braid whilst on duty, no facial piercings and if I call for you to suit up you drop whatever you’re doing and get into your armour ASAP, understood?” Tarja quickly delivered the regulations for her unit before waving for Ellen to follow her the moment she’d taken the uniform from her.

Walking down the row of cages Tarja would stop at the one near the end in which the suit Ellen had test driven this morning was laying ”This will be your cage, armour, tools, weaponry and personal effects are to be kept in here…now while you change into undergarment I will adjust armour…um…I’m afraid undergarment doesn’t leave much to imagination” she explained before apologising for the tight fitting garment that was part of uniform.

Assuming Ellen had no questions, Tarja would begin making some general adjustments to the suit in preparation for Ellen to climb inside.

HANGAR DEC #14

Once Ellen had managed to wriggle into the tight fitting outfit and had asked what was next, Tarja would look up from where she was currently adjusting one of the suit’s kneecaps and call out through the cage door ”Inga! I need your assistance please!…you don’t need boots and coveralls Ellen, with any luck we’ll have you in suit in a minute or two” Tarja would explain as an attractive woman with golden blonde hair and blue eyes entered the cage, the Swedish flag prominently displayed on her technician’s uniform.

The pair of women would proceed have a conversation in rapid Finnish…or possibly Swedish? Though by the hand gestures it was clear that they were discussing what was to become Ellen’s suit and what needed to be done. The entire exchange took only a few seconds before Inga turned and smiled at Ellen ”it’s Ellen right? Hi I’m Inga it’s nice to meet you…if you could just climb into the armour and I’ll show you how to get everything connected and then we’ll make any necessary adjustments, Tarja says you found suit a little tight this morning?” Inga spoke in fluent, if slightly accented English, with it obvious that she was one of those genuinely lovely people that made friends with everyone and would become distraught when someone inevitably took advantage of her kindly nature. Though it was also obvious that such a person would quickly regret doing so when half a dozen angry AI troopers came to beat the crap out of them.

After helping Ellen climb into the suit, which was currently laying in what looked to be a dentist’s chair, Tarja and Inga would help connect the suit to the undergarment with Inga cheerfully explaining what the various cables did in between asking Ellen about her shore leave and teasing Tarja ”ok so how does the suit feel at the moment? Is it comfortable? Or does anything feel like it’s too tight or loose? Can you reach all of the microswitches in the gauntlets? Are there any you can’t comfortably reach? Or are you hitting some by accident?” Inga cheerfully asked, with her and Tarja making adjustments dependent on Ellen’s answers.

”That is the fire control switch for the pulse weapon, there’s an identical switch in thumb of right gauntlet that controls main weapon” Tarja explained as Inga meanwhile slid her hand into the still open chest cavity of the armour to check how much space there was between Ellen and her armour with Inga then proceeding to make some adjustments ”how does that feel? Less like a sardine?” Inga would ask once she had loosened a few of the plates.

They would continue to ask Ellen questions and adjust the armour accordingly until Ellen was comfortable.

”Armour should be snug, if it’s too loose any impact will rattle you around like marble in can, also suit will be less responsive as the sensors won’t be able to detect your muscles as well” Tarja explained from where she was stood next to Ellen’s suit as Inga continued to methodically check how closely the armour fit ”…however armour shouldn’t feel like it is crushing you” she added as Inga straightened herself up and gave her a thumbs up ”That should be good to go, we can make some additional tweaks once Ellen has a better feel for the armour” she said seemingly happy that everything was as it should be.

”ok, I’m going to go and suit up then you and I will take a steady walk to the tunnels then we’ll see if we can get you running and maybe even show you how the weapon systems work, ok?”

Keep that in mind... Look at this... he pulled up something on his COM.

 AWOL???  There is a Bounty?

The Pr0gost  had  a 5000 Cred, dead or alive... The  Admiral  added  another  20000. Going Awol is not a good thing.

”Good, Inga will help you close up, and I will suit up and meet you here” Tarja said, glad to see that she was enthusiastic about learning how the armour worked.

As she left Ellen’s cage and walked over to her own Tarja would send a message to Meari and Conrad to see if either of them were willing to suit up and assist in Ellen’s training before taking off her boots and coveralls, and climbing into her armour.

A minute or so later Tarja would return to Ellen’s cage, her armour sporting it’s fresh black and grey digital cam and the right gauntlet painted a bright scarlet ”ok we’re going to take a steady walk across the hangar dec and down the corridor to the nearest tunnel access point, follow me, be mindful of what’s around you as you’re now a lot bigger and heavier, and don’t rush” Tarja calmly instructed over the suit’s private channel before waving for her to start following her.

as  far as  i know? Why ya askin' ?

Two reasons.... well..one  reason with two sides of a coin... If  we  don't like them, do we have to take them..and if  we do like them, do we  get to load up right away.

well. if they fall short  ?  we  won't take them, they just get sent  to colonies  for Home defense. If they are good,  I suppose  you all with  fly your rides   down to the PG  and  Come back with the new  toys..i know that look..you're thinkin' somethin' isn't right?

He chuckled as he turned to walk towards the  QM's   entrance.

Shadow frowned  as he  looked out the  static  field

HANGAR DEC #14

----> Tunnels

Th trio of armoured suits would exit the tunnels and make their way down to the hangar dec and then over to the mech compound. With everything that was currently going on it was relatively quiet within the compound with only Bjarne and a few other dec crew working through their shifts "Leave the suit in the cage you got it from, if you want the spot on the team they will be yours" Tarja said, having already decided that Ellen had made the grade and after a little more training would be a capable member of the team should she decide it was what she wanted "...Normally I would expect you to perform any maintenance or repairs to your armour before you go off duty however the suit is box fresh so I'm happy for you to head on out as soon as you're dressed...oh and Ellen, you did well out there" Tarja said in her characteristically cool voice before entering her own cage.

After exiting her armour, Tarja would take a few moments to write a couple of quick notes on a scrap of paper before pulling on her boots and coveralls in a deliberate attempt to put off messaging Meari knowing that as soon as she did so that she would have committed herself to going to the ball. Come on Tarja girl, you can do this! you've been a frontline soldier for longer than you care to think about you can handle one dance she thought to herself as she picked up her comms unit and sent Meari a message.

Comms message to Meari:"Hey Meari, I was thinking of going to the Ball tonight, are you also going?"

She would grimace slightly at the message with it reminding her a little too closely of her time at school before sending it anyway and heading out to shower and change.

Taking the Marines prompt Justin gave a shrug thanked the Guard and headed to the 25 to run the diagnostic on it. Clamberring into the pilot chair Justin settled into the familiar seat linked up his portable with the onboard and ran through the data upload. Two Minutes later the process had completed. Glancing about Justi checked the flight lines for sight of other Pilot's.
