Re: Seeking Players

Well here's a game I'm starting up and looking for 2 players.

The concept of this game is simple enough, following the adventures of a girl and her droid. Beyond the players being either the girl or the droid, the only other restriction is that the game is set during the Rebellion era.

Possible combinations could be a Bounty Hunter(or Assassin) with Utility or Combat droid, Rebel Pilot and Astromech, escaped slave and reprogrammed security droid, Arena Gladiator team, Imperial Commando with scout or spy droid, Martial Artist and her droid seeking a master, Smuggler with an Assassin droid that 'fell off the back of a transport', or anything else you can come up with :) I don't mind a Force user, but you wouldn't be Jedi/Sith/etc.

The game will start level 1. It will progress faster than most on RPoL as I plan on giving lvl X 100 bonus XP per week. Thus it will take maximum 10 weeks to gain each level.

Since the game is based on what you want to play, I doubt I'll have both a girl and droid that want to play in the exact same game, so be prepared to have to alter your ideas to fit each other. If you are RTJing as a pair, please let me know who the other player is.

Re: Seeking Players

I've got a game starting up, and need X (probably 6ish) players.

Typical tramp freighter story starting on Nar Shadaa. I've got a story ready but it's one that can be slotted into numerous kinds of games.

So most likely it'll be a privateer/smuggler tale, but it could easily warp into a rebellion commando or Empire inquisitor or rogue jedi...really anything depending on which direction players go to tackle the troubles they face.

Re: Seeking Players

I've got a Community Game starting up needing X (hopefully six) players.

This is going to be a noir bountyhunter tale set at 50 BYY.  All players MUST have some skill at tracking down their target, i.e. be trained in Survival and/or Gather Information Skill.  Any Force-user characters MUST NOT have ties still with the Jedi Order, i.e. they cannot have all three levels in Jedi Class.

The players are a group of beginning bountyhunters who have joined forces so that they can take down higher-paying bounties.  They are Probationary Members of the Bountyhunter Guild.  As such they must obey the laws of The Republic, and are not permitted to kill unless the bounty notice specifically says they can bring in the bounty dead.  They are allowed to take any open bounty, or they can pursue higher paying bounties offered exclusively through the Guild.  The players, through a wealthy sponsor (who can be played by a PC if someone wants to make a Noble with the Wealthy and Connections Talents), will call a tramp freighter home so they will have the ability to travel wherever the bounty they choose to follow takes them.

Re: Seeking Players

It looks like The Lernaean Task has picked back up.  The three remaining players are kind of in and out of it.  It's one of those games where there is activity one month and then none the next.  But these three players keep on coming back to it.

Naturally, there are just as many players who originally started playing it who didn't have the kind of devotion to play a game that went through so many long periods of inactivity.  The way the game has turned out, the players have taken a job with a Hutt (a crazy ie "nice" Hutt) to look for a missing employee.  The job requires a level of trust, or it is about to with the information the players have turned up as to where to search next.  At the same time they were pursuing another bounty, but what they have learned about that one's whereabouts, he is going to be hard to locate on the planet and will be a hard nut to get to.

There are a few characters left in the group who are not being played.  There is a Sluissi who is rather a techie who maintains the party's ship and equipment.  There is a Jawa who is the ship's gunner.  And I think there is another guy who is a crack shot with a blaster set to stun.  Lastly there is the Noble who is the party's patron, who has always been an NPC.

I suppose it would be possible to bring in new bountyhunters.  They would have to be pursuing the bounty of Hosk, the Transdoshian.  But seeing how other bountyhunters have already told the Guild that they are pursuing that bounty, the rules are you can't go after it without either convincing the other bountyhunters to give up on it, or agreeing to team up.  A team up would be necessary because Hosk has nested himself within a group of pirates in the hopes of getting close enough to their captain to take him out.

Re: Seeking Players

We shall see how things develop.  I have just set up a situation where the players must choose a road to take.  They could stay on Tatooine to pursue a different bounty (on an ex-bountyhunter who has settled in with a group of pirates whose base roams the planet Tatooine.) or they keep after their current bounty who they have learned has left the planet.  Keeping on their current job is going to bring them into a treasure hunt in Point Nadir.  Staying on Tatooine is going to bring them into heavy fighting, and all of it on people who have open bounties on their heads.

I like Jedi, it's just that they don't fit the premise of the game which is sports. Depending on player choice I'm up for lightsabers to be involved, or if not warswords, rapiers, vibroblades or anything else you can mention.

Also the game title is a quote of William Shakespeare taken from the 'Merry Wives of Windsor'.

Re:  Seeking Players

A team of fencers, eh?
For years I have had an idea kicking around in my head for a game based on the Seven Samurai Anime.

Basically it takes place during the Old Republic Era about a century after the events of Knights of the Old Republic.  It takes place on the Rakatan home planet.  After the destruction of the Star Forge, the Light-Dweller Rakatans opened themselves up trade with the outside world.  Being located in the Deep Core Worlds they had access to lots of new immigrants.  But after a couple centuries of welcoming in the Galaxy, the Dark-Dweller Rakatans awoke and had something to say about that.  They reactivated a network of temples imbued with Dark Force that recreated the energy dampening field around the planet.  Everything using electrical power stopped working.  Actually, what it did was increase the amount of power flowing through a closed circuit.  Power generators gave out power and quickly burned out their fuel sources, and batteries drained quickly.  All the extra electricity was going into the atmosphere recreating the barrier that ionized ships passing through it.  The planet was once again cut off from the Galaxy.  There then began a civil war: Light-Dwellers vs. Outsiders with the Dark-Dwellers pulling the strings of The Force from their underground bunkers.

Humanity had been reduced to using swords and blackpowder slugthrowers.  They were the only reliable weapons in a long battle.  Blasters only had a few shots before their powerpacks went dry.  Lightsabers and Vibroblades only had a few minutes of use before their energy cells died.  The energy dampening field prevented energy cells from being recharged.  By the end of the war, all the Lightsabers had been thrown away; their special energy cells were all dead.  All except the weapons belonging to one Hutt who emerged from the merchant classes.  The blasters of his personal regiment never ran out of power.  In the end, this Hutt won and was crowned Emperor...  an Emperor who was propped up on his thrown by the aid of the Dark-Dwellers.  The Dark-Dwellers were able to manufacture batteries that were resistant to the energy dampening field.  They keep the Emperor in power by supplying his loyal followers with energy cells.

The Emperor is old though and mentally feeble.  His loyal supporters are beginning to scheme for power.  Other Hutts think of succeeding him.  His Mandalorean mercenaries are growing dissatisfied with their pay.  Civil order is beginning to break down.  But it has only been twelve years since the last civil war.  The world hasn't yet recovered.  The Dark-Dwellers continue to support the Emperor in the belief that he will live another hundred years longer.  The Dark-Dwellers do not understand politics, and they do not believe a Hutt can go senile.  The Jedi lost the last civil war, but they didn't all die.  They are scattered and lightsaberless.  Most are young, trained after the last civil war, told to keep their skills to themselves less the Emperor try to recruit them into his reign of oppression.  But they never forgot that a Jedi's life is that of service to others.

Re:  Seeking Players

Two people?  That's it?  Well, the only two who count in my book.  Over the years I have learned that there are only a handful of players one can count on to stay in a Star Wars Game.  The others always flake out within a month or two.  That always gets me bummed out.  In my old table top group if a game only lasted two months that meant it was horrible and everyone hated it but weren't saying anything to be nice.  I'm so sensitive to rejection.  Probably because it has been happening to me my entire life.  It's a good thing my parents weren't like everyone else or I would have slit my wrists before I was eighteen.

But two is far from seven.  That would hardly make a proper Seven Samurai game.  I would have to NPC almost everyone.  But then people, including myself, would get the feeling that I am just playing with myself.  I'm tired of doing that.  Seriously.  Before I was fourteen I didn't have a roleplaying group.  I was playing Star Frontiers literally by myself.  How pathetic is that?

Re:  Seeking Players

I had another idea for a game where the number of players required is indeterminate.  However, it requires everyone to play a droid.  Some people like that but not everyone.

It takes place on The Wheel Station during the Rebellion Era.  The Wheel (or rather three-quarters of it) is an independent space station.  It's economy is based on two things: tourism and smuggling.  It has few full-time residents.  The station is maintained by droids organized by a Master Intelligence computer.  Consessions have been made to the Empire allowing to use one quarter of the docks for their shipping.  There is a neutral zone around the station where the Empire is not allowed to attack, board, or search other ships.  The sector's economy is based on piracy and smuggling, always has.  The Empire can't understand that.  They want things to change.

The commander of an Imperial Commando Unit has taken it upon himself to manipulate things on The Wheel to create a situation where the residents of The Wheel will have to come begging the Empire to put a stop to the chaos breaking out on the station.  Largely it's a plan like the one the Emperor used to take over the Republic: create conflict then swoop in to the rescue and so everyone will be grateful and never rebel.  Not so perfect in the long run but then the Imperial officers who see the Rebellion as the endgame have all joined it.  Anyhow, the Master Computer has given droids on the station special programming and charged them with the task of locating these commandos, discovering their plots, and putting a stop to them.  Droids are perfect for the task.  They're so ubiquitous that no one pays attention to them.  The Empire underestimates the abilities of droids.  And if any of these droid operatives are destroyed, their programming can be given to another droid of the same make and model, which can then continue where the other one left off.  It's like Paranoia, if you die your clone takes your place.  Interesting game that Paranoia although it contrives too hard to kill you.  Here the price of failure isn't your life, just the autonomy of The Wheel.  Though for me I'm always disappointed to see players refuse to take risky actions and refuse to make a noble sacrifice because they don't like their characters to die.  It always struck me as "unstarwarsy" to not take risks, and unlike rebels with nothing left to lose to refuse to sacrifice themselves for the greater good.

Re:  Seeking Players

I decided that not everyone would like to play a droid.  So I recycled this game idea as a set of solo adventures set on The Wheel.  So there's only a couple of players who wanted to play droids.  And yes, one of them is a Replicant Droid.  So there's the one android.  I think it unlikely that there would be more than one Replicant at the same location.

Re:  Seeking Players

The first three episodes of this campaign are now over and the storyline has a break, allowing to bring new characters to the campaign: your opportunity to join!

You will join Episode 4 at level 7 and next seven Episodes will bring the (surviving) characters to level 20!

During last several months and years, you have been smuggling full time and progressively you made up your minds to enrol at the services of Senator Bail Organa, that everybody knows is quietly organising a Rebellion and is working on a number of highly relevant, although secret projects. You hope you can help with some of them!
Recently you have been working all together for some time and you pooled your savings to buy a ship (this doesn't actually affect your starting money according to campaign rules - these are the outcomes of your smuggling activities): a Corellian YT-1300 Transport that you decided to name The Bumblebee!

Now it is time for the Bumblebee to join the secret fleet of ships spearheaded by the Nebulon-B cruiser Resurgence, where you will be able to meet Senator Bail Organa in person. Being invited to a personal meeting with him is not a minor honour!

Re:  Seeking Players

"Rise of the Rebellion: A Star Wars Story" is a Star Wars Saga Edition campaign set three years before the films Rogue One and Episode IV, A New Hope. At this time the galaxy is riddled with fear of the powerful and autocratic Galactic Empire and there seems to be little that many people can do but try to survive the oppression they experience. In some sectors resistance is growing however and leaders such as Mon Mothma and Bail Organa are quietly building opposition to the Emperor's agents and forces, though the Alliance to Restore the Republic has not yet been formed.

Episode I of our story will bring the players together as they seek the aid of the organisation known as the Hidden Path, or "the Path" for short, either fleeing the repression of the Galactic Empire or simply seeking to join the Rebellion. The PCs should therefore be people who wish to active resist the Empire and are looking to join the rebels. My intention for Episode II of the campaign onwards is to form the PCs into a special operations team who are sent on missions against the Empire.

In terms of a game system I will be using Star Wars Saga Edition as all of those rules are available online. Characters will begin Episode I at level 6 and will then, after a short period of downtime, be bumped to level 8 when they are formed into an active special operations unit.

Please see the RTJ thread in the game for details on how to apply. The game is found here: link to another game

Recruitment will close on Friday 9th September.

Thanks for reading.
