Seeking GMs

Pretty easy idea going on here.

What sort of games would you like to play in? Do you have an idea for a game but don't have the time or skill to run it? Give us a run down and hopefully it'll inspire our GM crew to pick up the ball and run with it.

Re: Insert Game Idea Here

Hmm, ideas.  Let me draw on my well of madness and see what bubbles up.

The Sandcrawler rides across another dune and toboggans down the slope of it's far side, causing a small avalanche.  Inside, where there should be the hooting and soft calls of Jawas, there is only silence broken by the ticking of smooth mechanical parts of a single vibrant machine.
As it coasts another dune, the Sandcrawler's sensors note several life forms, and dismisses them as irrelevant.  A moment later it realizes it's mistake, as the stormtroopers ambush it with a careful, accurate blast to the treads.  And then the operation goes terribly wrong.
Rather than fleeing as expected, the sandcrawler turns in place and charges impossibly fast, portholes and openings suddenly forming, blisters full of weapons in places no weapon could possibly be stored suddenly rake the stormtroopers with automatic cannon fire even as the treads crush a dewback and it's stormtrooper riders into a damp spot in the dune sea's endless floor.  Moments later, the Sandcrawler simply isn't there and a vast droid crushes the shell-shocked resistance into the sand.  A moment passes, as the machine watches the feeble fleshlings squirm and die.
"Brawl, this is Shockwave.  What are you doing?" comes a sudden message.
"The insects attacked me." the great droid protests, collapsing back into a Sandcrawler disguise.
"Very well.  Ensure there are no survivors.  Then rendezvous with Astrotrain in Mos Eisley space port for evacuation.  We have determined that the resources of this planet are not worth harvesting.  The Decepticon fleet is moving on.  All hail Megatron."

Re: Insert Game Idea Here

All right, some thing more down to earth.

New Republic Era, Borsk Fey'lya has taken over the Republic, ousting Leia Organa as prime minister.  Concerned at the political stance, the Jedi Temple has dispatched a liason committee to promote their interests politically.  Players are a group of Jedi tasked with protecting Jedi-Friendly senators, digging up dirt on unfriendly ones, and generally playing the politics game in order to make sure there's never a second Jedi Purge.

One could always start the game in the station's main docking bay, the PCs just about to burst in and grab the cargo, then make their daring escape.

Hmm.  I think I may do just that the next time I get the urge to run a DoD campaign again.

Re: Insert Game Idea Here

It sounds like it would be a lot like any other Old Republic Era game just before the Clone Wars.  I mean, once Palpatine and Dooku are dead, the Separatist Movement crumbles down to isolated rebellions that can be easily cleaned up by Republic Clones.  The Jedi Order survives, but it would be heavily diminished in numbers.  The Jedi Order would have two orders of business: Replenish their numbers by locating younglings strong in the Force, seeking out failed Jedi and giving them a second chance to complete their training, And trying to convince members of other Force Traditions to join the Jedi.  The other order of business would be righting the wrongs sited by the Separatists as their main reason for rebelling against The Republic.  That can get very political.  With the war over, the Consular Jedi takes center stage

Re: Insert Game Idea Here

Anakin is still something of a loose canon, teetering on the edge of Darkness, but because he never quite fell, Padme is presumably barely enough to keep him in the light, particularly since she has twins on the way.

This revised universe has Luke and Leia growing up in the Jedi Order. Luke probably grows up to be a Guardian, but Leia is a killer Consular when trained from the beginning. She's a natural political type anyway.

But if Mace killed Palpatine wouldn't he be likely to turn into a Sith? As when Anakin killed Dooku was when he began to turn to the Dark side. So it would be Mace and Anakin against the Jedi.

Mace isn't turning, period.

Anakin...without Palpatine's influence, it's difficult to say what he'll do. His wife helps a LOT, the surviving jedi helps, having kids helps, but still, loose cannon. Very loose.

Re: Insert Game Idea Here

GM Chris over on d20 radio did a wonderful job of an alternate timeline.

This is pulled from a stalled game that I play in.

CSD -35 years: The Battle of Coruscant; Count Dooku is slain by Anakin Skywalker, Palpatine is revealed as Darth Sidious and slain by Mace Windu. The Clone Wars come to an uneasy cease-fire as the Republic and Separatists scramble to recover after the death of Palpatine/Sidious. After days of heated debate, Senator Bail Organa accepts the post of Acting Chancellor with the backing of the Delegation of 2000 and the Jedi Council. Mace Windu is made to stand trial for the murder of Supreme Chancellor Palpatine, but is exonerated after evidence gathered from Palpatine’s chambers reveals his duplicity and confirms his nature as a Sith Lord and instigator of the Clone Wars. Bail promises to re-open diplomatic talks with the leaders of the Confederacy of Independent Systems in the hopes of ending the war.

CSD -34 years, 10 months: After weeks of negotiation, the Separatists officially surrender to the Republic, bringing the Clone Wars to an end. The Separatist leaders are convicted of a wide array of war crimes and lose much of their fiscal and political power, with Nute Gunray receiving a death sentence for his actions, despite an impassioned plea from Senator Amidala to give him a life imprisonment sentence instead. With the war officially over, Anakin Skywalker informs the Jedi Council that he is leaving the Order, announcing his existing marriage to Padme Amidala and stating that he feels the Jedi have become tainted and corrupt, betraying their mandate. Amidst the controversy, Padme Amidala’s pregnancy is revealed, forcing her to step down from her post as Senator, traveling to Naboo with her husband to start a new life.

CSD -34 years, 9 months: Padme gives birth to twins, who are named Luke and Leia. Anakin is amazed to learn just how strongly the Force is with them, but resolves not to let the Jedi Order taint his children, and will train them without the Order’s interference.

CSD -34 years, 8 months: Bail Organa is formally elected as Supreme Chancellor of the Republic, and his first official act is to relinquish the emergency powers granted to that office under Palpatine's tenure. Days after the election, Sheltray Retrac is killed in a tragic accident, and as a result Bail and his wife Breha decide to formally adopt the now-orphaned Winter Retrac as their own daughter.

CSD -32 years: Captain Fordo of the famous Muunilist 10 is killed in action while protecting a group of Senators from militant extremists, leading to the creation of the Clone Trooper Cross of Bravery, which to this day is considered to be one of the highest military honors in the galaxy, and is awarded to Fordo posthumously.

CSD -31 years: On the anniversary of the Battle of Geonosis, after an impassioned speech by a young Senator Joonan Marr, the Senate passes the Clone Trooper Recognition Act, retroactively making all clone troopers full-fledged citizens of the Republic with all the attendant rights and pay, plus setting up pension funds for those troopers that wish to retire from active duty. Many clones elect to remain enlisted, but they still slowly begin to explore life outside the military.

CSD -30 years: As the accelerated aging of the clone troopers begins to catch up to them, the Senate passes Senator Marr's Republic Military Enlistment Act, which opens membership in the Grand Army of the Republic to any and all citizens that wish to join and meet the necessary physical requirements. Many veteran clone troopers are asked to help train these new recruits, ensuring that their legacy of service continues long after the last of them has passed on.

CSD -29 years: After the premature death of Queen Breha at the hands of militant extremists, Princess Winter Organa is assigned a tutor to both help raise the young princess and teach her to be capable of defending herself if the situation calls for it. The idea of using decoys is put forth, but Winter vehemently objects, not wanting to put others in harm's way just for her own sake.

CSD -28 years: Against the wishes of her husband, Padme brings Luke and Leia to Coruscant to be presented to the Jedi Council, fearing that his lingering bitterness towards the Jedi Order was tainting the training he was giving the children. Impressed with their potential, the Jedi Council accepts the twins as potential Jedi in spite of their age due to the rudimentary training their father had provided them. Obi-Wan Kenobi reaches out to his former apprentice in an attempt to reconcile and convince Anakin to return to the Order, even offering to help ensure that Anakin can continue to have a hand in training them. Anakin is furious over his wife's perceived betrayal, and refuses to return to the Order. Although unable to bring himself to harm Padme, Anakin goes on a violent rampage that left their home ablaze and his lightsaber destroyed. He leaves Naboo and heads to Tatooine, taking up the life of a moisture farmer alongside the Lars family, but generally shunned others. Padme remains on Naboo, dedicating herself to a life of quiet service, opening a refuge shelter on the planet and starting medical clinics for the impoverished in dozens of systems. In such medical clinics, Tervax and Eso Terra breath their first breaths.

CSD -26 years: Despite his initial reservations, Obi-Wan Kenobi agrees to take Leia Skywalker as his Padawan Learner at her own insistent requests; she argues that Obi-Wan did as fine a job training her father as any Jedi, but that it was Palpatine’s influence that tainted her father.

CSD -25 years, 8 months: After years spent traveling the galaxy, Jedi Master Casiadne Jhones returns to the Jedi Temple, and to the surprise of the Order and the Council asks to take Luke Skywalker as her Padawan Learner. Grand Master Yoda argues that an unconventional apprentice such as the young Luke would require an equally unconventional master, and the request is granted, making Luke the maverick Jedi Master’s apprentice.

CSD -22 years: A young Republic fighter pilot named Han Solo disobeys direct orders from a superior in order to help liberate the prisoners of a Zygerrian slaver ship, among them the wookiee Chewbacca. Han is dishonourably discharged after striking his commanding officer. Chewbacca swears a life debt to the young pilot, and the two become independent traders. At around the same time, somewhere on the Blood Carver homeworld of Batorine, Mi Truev screams out for the first time. At around the same time, somewhere in the Chiss Ascendancy, Chemosh screams out for the first time. Somewhere nearer to home, Tehrk grabs his first breast.

CSD -21 years: Luke and Casiadne travel to Tatooine at the Jedi Master’s urging to give the boy a chance to make peace with his father. The three of them end up working together to protect several moisture farms from a horde of Tusken Raiders. Anakin accepts that Luke wishes to become a Jedi Knight, and thanks Casiadne for being the one to train his son so as to ensure that Luke doesn’t become another mindless Jedi drone.

CSD –20 years: Han Solo wins the Millennium Falcon from Lando Calrissian in the final round of the Cloud City Sabacc Tournament.

CSD -19 years: Casiadne Jhones and Luke Skywalker are called upon to rescue Princess Winter Organa and her entourage after her ship is taken prisoner by pirates that intended to ransom the girl back to her father. Luke and Winter meet for the first time, each quickly becoming enamored of the other, much to Casiadne’s amusement, and marks the beginning of a long-standing friendship between the two.

CSD -17 years: Lando Calrissian becomes the Baron-Administrator of Cloud City after winning the title in a high-stakes game of sabacc with the previous Baron-Administrator.

CSD -15 years: After a pitched duel with the Dark Jedi Valin Draco, Luke Skywalker is granted the title of Jedi Knight by the Jedi Council, who are deeply impressed with his prowess in the Force and the simple humility that his father always lacked. To the Council’s chagrin, Luke has also inherited the independent nature of his father and his Master, and spends much of his time abroad, although he maintains regular contact with the Council. The training of her apprentice complete, Casiadne once again departs to continue her wanderings.

CSD -14 years: After undergoing a more formal set of Jedi Trials than her twin, Leia Skywalker is promoted to the rank of Jedi Knight.

CSD -12 years: Grand Master Yoda passes away at the age of 900. His resting ceremony is attended by Jedi from across the galaxy, including several Jedi that had willingly left the Order years prior, as well as the latest Supreme Chancellor, Mon Mothma; High Prince Bail Organa and Princess Winter. A modest memorial for the ancient Jedi Master is established in the courtyard of the Senate building as a token of respect for the diminutive leader.

CSD -11 years: Although they do not inform the Senate of this, the Jedi Council begins to worry as they feel a darkening of the Force similar to the one that began just prior to the blockade of Naboo by the Trade Federation several years ago.

CSD -10 years: Republic Military Intelligence agents uncover crucial evidence that points to the existence of a Dark Side cult with Sith connections having made their headquarters on Telos. The Jedi Council assigns both of the Skywalker twins to verify this and root out the cult. Working in tandem, they are able to discover the Sith cult have made their base in an abandoned temple in the polar regions, and that their leader is one of Count Dooku’s former Acolytes making use of a Sith holocron stolen from the Almas Academy ruins. Luke defeats the would-be Sith Lord in single combat and Leia procures the Sith holocron to bring to the Jedi Archives for safe-keeping.

CSD -9 years: The Red Claw Brotherhood, a band of vicious space pirates begins staging attacks along the Rimma Trade Route. The Republic faces great difficulty in stopping these attacks until a Republic strike force under the joint command of Jedi Master Casiadne Jhones and Commander Cinowyn Antilles uncovers the pirate’s central base of operations and decimates the pirate fleet. Obi-Wan offers Casiadne a seat on the Jedi Council as a sign of respect for his fellow Jedi's accomplishments, but the maverick Jedi Master declines, citing “she’s not ready to retire with the old folks’ just yet.” It was Casiadne's last public appearance, although it is believed that she is still wandering the galaxy and is actively working to protect the people of the Republic.

CSD -8 years: Princess Winter is elected to the Senate to represent Alderaan, with the intent that the experience will make her a more suitable ruler when the time comes for her to assume the throne.

CSD -7 years: Famous smuggler baron Talon Karrde manages to organize several of his fellow smugglers into a single cohesive organization dubbed the Smuggler’s Alliance, which quickly becomes a criminal faction to rival the Hutts and Black Sun in the areas of information brokering as well as smuggling, and also gains a reputation for ensuring that any attacks on their members are avenged. Under Karrde’s leadership, the coalition is wildly successful.

CSD -6 years, 6 months: Mace Windu is killed during a sneak attack after attempts at negotiation with the Yevetha fail, resulting in a ferocious war that will leave the Yevetha nearly extinct and dozens of Republic worlds devastated. Master Leia Skywalker is able to broker a peace after Obi-Wan succeeds in spearheading a decisive offensive action that leaves the Yevetha leaders at their mercy. In recognition of her actions, insight and wisdom, Leia is promoted to the Jedi Council, and soon becomes the Council’s primary liaison with the office of the Supreme Chancellor.

CSD -6 years: Master Obi-Wan Kenobi accepts the position of Grand Master of the Jedi Order.

CSD -5 years: Anakin Skywalker, aged before his time and having become a notoriously bitter and surly old hermit, was found dead in his Dune Sea hut by local traders, who gave him a simple burial in the sands of his homeworld. In spite of her clear vitality, Padme begins to suffer a deepening illness that defies all medical diagnosis and attempts at treatment.

CSD -4 years, 10 months: Padme passes away after having spent decades helping those in need, and despite having stayed out of public life since her children were accepted for Jedi training, she is given a state funeral that is attended by the current Queen, the Supreme Chancellor, both of her children, and hundreds of thousands of beings from across the galaxy.

CSD -4 years, 9 months: In the wake of his parents’ passing, Luke appears to fall into a state of depression, and begins spending more and more time researching something in the Archives, as well as taking extended leaves of absence, although he refuses to go into detail as to what he is searching for. The Jedi Council expresses the concern that he is becoming obsessed with his parents’ deaths and that this is in turn affecting his ability to perform his duties as a Jedi.

CSD -4 years: Senator Joonan Marr is elected Supreme Chancellor.

CST -3 years, 6 months: While dodging Hutt enforcers on Nar Shaddaa after a botched spice run, Chewbacca gives his life to protect Han, allowing the smuggler to escape Jabba’s goons. It is a blow that takes Han many years to recover from, during which time he operates the Millennium Falcon by himself.

CSD -3 years: Under mysterious circumstances, Master Luke Skywalker goes missing, his quarters empty of all personal effects, the body of a slain Jedi librarian discovered in the archives, and the Sith holocron that he and Leia had recovered from Telos now missing.

CSD -2 years, 6 months: After months spent fruitlessly searching for the missing Jedi Master, the Jedi Council has no choice but to inform the Senate of Luke’s troubling disappearance. This sparks a series of heated debates, as many older Senators remember Palpatine and Dooku’s respective betrayals, and many younger Senators begin to feel a sense of distrust towards the Jedi Order and their secretive tendencies, although Leia spends a great deal of effort trying to assuage fears after rumors ignite of a Jedi-led coup of the Republic.

CSD -2 years: On the anniversary of her brother’s disappearance, Leia informs the Jedi Council that she has recently been having troubling visions of her brother, swathed in shadows, and fears that he may have begun delving into the dark side after his disappearance, particularly as the Sith holocron recovered from Telos was discovered missing shortly after Luke’s disappearance.

CSD -2 weeks: Republic Military Intelligence receives a sketchy report about a sighting of renegade Jedi Luke Skywalker on the planet Koshibal in the Outer Rim, but it is the most tangible lead they have gotten in years. A quick conference between Chancellor Marr, General Crix Madine, and Jedi Master Leia Skywalker leads to the three of them agreeing to a secret joint venture between their respective organizations to investigate this lead, with the hope of getting a confirmation of Luke’s presence.

Re: Insert Game Idea Here

I'd been thinking about doing the same game.  Only I would be different.  For one thing, I'm not playing in that game you are, Vibe, so I don't know where it has been going.  For another, I don't know anything about the planet of Koshibal.  Is that the planet where the bunny-people come from, or is it the planet of healthy cereal?  I wouldn't have Luke go there.  I would have him go to Bespin where he would meet up with people who would have been his friends in the normal timeline.  As for what he is doing, I have my own theory and it is based on a single episode of the Clone Wars cartoon series.  And my interpretation of what happened there is likely to be very rare and no one will agree with me.

I am referring to the episodes where Anakin, Obi-wan, and Ashoka respond to an ancient Jedi distress signal.  They get captured by aliens inside a hidden planet.  These aliens are Archons who represent aspects of The Force.  There is and old Father, his son who is of the Dark Side, and his daughter who is of the Light Side.  The Father must keep his two children from fighting, but he is getting old and his powers are failing.  He asks Anakin to fulfills his destiny to "bring balance to the Force" by taking his place.  Anakin refuses.  He doesn't want to leave Padme or his responsibilities to defend the Republic.  Basically, Anakin is selfish.  He can't see the big picture.  So he refuses his destiny.  But the Dark Archon won't let him walk away.  He needs help to defeat his Father and Sister so he can unleash the full power of the Dark Side upon the Galaxy.  He takes Ashoka hostage and Anakin must save her.  At first he turns to the Light Sister for help and she does what she can to arm him with the proper weapon.  But the Dark Brother had that in his plan, he takes the weapon from Anakin and uses it to kill his Father and Sister.  So Anakin has screwed up big time and he has to make things right by killing the Dark Brother.  It's a copy of Anakin will do the Galaxy.  He will end up causing the destruction of the Jedi Order (represented by the Father), and then the Light Side (as all Jedi who follow the Light shall die), he brings darkness upon the Galaxy, and then he destroys that darkness.  But there is my interpretation of it that is different, more literal.  The Archons are real entities who keep the power of the Force in check.  The Father's power was getting weak, thus the Jedi Order was getting weak.  So then Anakin refuses his destiny, and then he blows it.  He kills the one thing keeping the Light and Dark in balance, unleashes the power of the two, then kills them both to try to resolve the conflict.  Any Jedi Consular would tell you though that you don't resolve a conflict by killing both sides of the debate.  The debate goes on, only the people making the argument changes.  Anakin failed at his great destiny.  Instead of bringing Balance to the Force, he Unleashed it.  Jedi and Sith after that are able to do amazingly powerful things.  Hence the Unleashed Feats come into being.  It then falls upon Luke to fulfill his father's destiny.

It has also always been my belief that it is Luke all along who completes his father's destiny to bring Balance to the Force.  The Prophacy of the One who will Bring Balance to the Force is only half-told.  It is like the Prophacy in Legend of the Overfiend.  If anyone knew the whole prophacy, they would call it the Legend of the Two, and then never want it to begin to be fulfilled.  The One who is prophacies actually turns out to be the Overfiend, the Destroyer.  In Overfiend, the prophacy is to create a world where the world of the Demons and the world of the Humans are one where the two groups live together in harmony.  It turns out though that to create a new world, first two worlds must be destroyed.  To bring Balance to the Force, the Sith and the Jedi with their respective philosophies must be destroyed.  In Overfiend, the Overfiend's daughter who is half-Human and half-Demon fulfills the rest of the prophacy of creating a new world.  In Star Wars, it is Luke who finds the Balance in the Force and then finishes off the Emperor with the help of his father.  Sure, Vader does it, but he was motivated to save his son.  It's a selfish act that copies why Vader turned to the Dark Side in the first place: to save Padme and his unborn son.  Our selfish genes want to preserve our offspring.  But Luke finds the balance.  In Return, he starts using the Dark Side.  He Force Chokes Gamorreans, and he goes into a rage fighting Vader.  Luke is totally drawing on the power of the Dark Side.  But it is a righteous rage; his goals are good.  Thus he uses the Dark Side, but he is not consumed by it.  Luke discovers how to find that balance within himself.  And it is something he should have been teaching to his later students, if he didn't find so any hidden archives of Jedi teachings.

Re: Insert Game Idea Here

Jedi, Bah, who needs'em.
Sith, you mean Bith? Never heard of'em.

I just want to play Vislor, a human freight courier in his beat up Gymsnor-3 light
freighter.  Along with his selonian mechanic/co-pilot.

You know treking the hyperspace lanes during the Imperial Uprising, trying to make some honest creds, and sometimes a few dishonest creds.  Meeting women, honest and dishonest still applies.

Trying to ride the fine line between hero, and dead guy...

Vislor is a imperial military wash out, dishonorably discharged for getting into a fight with a higher ranked officer.   He was a capital ship pilot, but being that he was gutter trash the more "noble" officers liked to pick on him.  How could they have known that he really was gutter trash, and he knew how to survive life on the streets.  Kill or be killed, be strong or be walked on.

Lt Dragen imperial training officer was the only person to defend him in his hearing, which only resulted in his discharge, and not a criminal record with time served.

Now Vislor seeks to carve out the small wages a ship pilot can make transporting goods.

-     -     -     -     -

I want to play in a very pulp-ish type game where Vislor has to deal with his broken down ship, always being broke, and some how ending up a hero to one person or another, but in the grand scheme of things always being a no-body to the larger whole.   Its not that he is a do gooder, or a virtuous type, he has just had all the cards stacked against him.  He tries to walk the straight path but other people's greed, arrogance, and what ever else you can think of always pull him into the greyer side of things.

True, summer is a time filled with long consecutive hours of free time.  Combine that with the June Sales on Steam and people like me are spending a lot of time playing videogames and forgetting to check on rpol.  Or they get Netflix or some such movie service and they start binging on shows.  It's sad because you would think that with more free time people would be starting games on rpol.  That's the curse of having too much free time.

what is the definition of "the player they are looking for"?

;P

I wouldn't mind hosting a game, but what I want out of a star wars story is usually not what the players want.

I don't like Jedi/Sith focus story lines.  They are a rarity, not the norm.

I guess the old style West End games adventures more then the Saga Jedi epic battles.

I'd love to play in a game where no one was force sensitive a la Wraith Squadron.

Re: Insert Game Idea Here

That's true.  I find everyone has their own idea of what the perfect Star Wars game is.  So while you may be the player you're looking for, the game may not be the Star Wars game you're looking for.  And even if it is the Star Wars game you're looking for, the GM may not be your cup of tea.  Some GMs are long-winded and move things at a slower pace, while others shoot at you right out of the gate and are mono-syllabic.

It would be really nice if there was somewhere for GMs make posts describing their GMing style.  I think the #1 reason why players quit on games is that they don't care for the GM's style.  Unfortunately, it's hard to tell those things until the game has started.  GMs bait you in with all sorts of promises.  Then it turns out not to be the game for you.

We could just use character descriptions for that, use the normal area to explain your play/gm style.

Re: Insert Game Idea Here

I like the descriptions for GM style, or people could put that in their game write-ups.

Wraith Squadron, the newest version "Mercy Kill" had a Force sensitive Jesmin Tainer. Her mother was Tyria Sarkin Tainer was also Force Sensitive but didn't really have much ability in it during the series that I recall (I'm not sure I read all of them though). But according to Wookieepedia she went on to become a Jedi Knight (Tyria).

I am interested to hear what GM styles people prefer when they are a player.

PC Grimjack:
what is the definition of "the player they are looking for"?

That was my attempt at the jedi mind trick. However, it seems to have a diminishing effect across the internet.

I would prefer a game that is not jedi/sith centric and greatly prefer one that does not involve them as a major part of the story.

I would like to be able to play an alien, and in a non-solo game would greatly prefer a motley crew of all aliens or a group of the same alien race.

I would like to play in a game based in a timeline around the original trilogy or beyond, but before the Yuuzhan Vong.

I could play in a game where the group is anywhere on the scale of morality good, bad, or Lando.

With all of the above being said, I would rather play game that does not fall into one of the above statements then not play at all.

link to another game

Then have I got the game for you! I'm guessing.  I'm only half-right.  I have a game I started only a month ago that is now missing two of its players.  They're the two Wookiee players, and in a game called The Battle of Kashyyyk it must have Wookiees!

So is it a Jedi-focused game or not?  Yes and no.  It's a Clone Wars Era game so there are a couple of Jedi players (one of which is one of our missing Wookiees) but more of the players are not Jedi.  It's only a 3rd level game so the Jedi aren't all that powerful.  But they don't have to be because right now it is a simple droid-bash.  Yes, the two Jedi players are Padawans and no, their Master is not in the middle of the fight.  Their Jedi Master conveniently had both his arms cut off is backstory and it waiting on his new arms to be grown in a cloning tank.  So he can only offer advice... if asked.  Though the Clone Commander is doing a good job of offering tactical advice and objectives for the players.

Since this is happening at the tailend of the Clone Wars, should the game last so long, it will enter into Order 66.  By then the Jedi Padawans should have gained a level or two and be able to fend off some Clone Scouts.  And then it's "run to the forest" time.  Or more likely for space since half the players are wiz at flying ships.  So yeah... somehow I have to work that into the plot.

Re: Insert Game Idea Here

I am looking for a game for this character.

Be warned it a bit long winded.
Vislor Farlander and his 3 DUM-series pit droids on a Gymsnor-3 light freighter  "Forlorn hope"

Vislor Farlander has a shady past.  His parents are dead, his mother died giving birth to his younger sister and then his father died later in the clone wars as a CIS trooper towards the end of the clone wars.  He and his sister where left to raise themselves in an orphanage, but Vislor was older by about 13 years so he was kicked out of the orphanage sooner then his sister.  Vislor found himself trying to survive taking odd jobs and trying to make ends meet for himself.  He got caught up with the wrong people and the next thing he knew he was boosting speeders and flipping them.

He never hurt no body, but he also never backed down from a good scrap, which of course earned him enemies that would soon turn on him.  The thugs that he ran with sold him out.  He took the fall for a speeder theft ring that was uncovered by the local system security force.  Vislor had a choice as a first time offender enlist or do hard time.  One institution or another.... he decided on the Imperial Navy.

Vislor went through basic easy enough, even was headed for the naval core of capital ship pilots.  He was stationed on the Imperial Customs Cruiser 'Suspiria' under Imperial training officer Dragen.  Dragen was a decent enough fellow, a bit subscribed to the New Order (the general idea that Humans guide the universe's destiny - the one thing that makes the Empire the clear bad guys), but not viciously so.  Officer Dragen was an optimist and a believer, not a hate-monger.

Suspiria was a decent enough post, quietly circling the Wheel and stopping trade ships and freighters that passed through the neutral station.  The job allowed him gain skills that turned him from a petty thief punk into a skilled man.  Vislor's skills as a capital ship pilot where noticed and Dragen put him in with the big dogs, being that he was in line to be a Naval pilot for bigger ships.  Which Vislor saw as a possibly for a promotion.

Former thugs shouldn't be officers, according to the hot-shots in the officers' corps. And well... Vislor apparently proved that true.  Vislor's upbringing had not prepaired him for these social interactions.  His lack of thick skin, but no lack of tough knuckles, proved to be his undoing.

He took out his agressions on Lieutenant Mortan, a superior officer, who was taunting him.  The same Lieutenant Mortan who is now currently serving as flight leader of the Suspiria's TIE contingent.  Hitting a ranking officer got him washed out really quick, he was discharged out of the Imperial Navy (no severance package) and was left to make his own way.

He started working as a freighter pilot with lager company ships, a regular companyman.  That wasn't paying the bills fast enough, so he saved up some creds, got a loan from the Banking Guild and bought his hunk of junk that he calls a cargo ship and now works as an independent cargo hauler.

In his Gymsnor-3 light freighter the "Forlorn hope" Vislor started plying his trade as an independent freight courier.  He even took on a co-pilot, a Selonain by the name of Kadanac. The otter like alien, Kadanac, and Vislor became fast friends.  They both shared a harsh upbringing, and a fresh outlook on what life should be like.  For a few years they carved out a bit of a life for themselves, always just one missed payment from total financial ruin, but at least they where free.

That is untill Seijek City starport in the Aargonar system.  Close to defaulting on his loan on the "Forlorn Hope" Vislor had no choice but to take on some contraband cargo to make ends meet.  Forever the faithful friend and business partner, Kadanac agreed to take on the cargo.  It was a milk run, but its never that easy.  The Forlorn Hope had engine troubles inroute to the drop off, and ran across an Imperial customs Cruiser.  The same cruiser Vislor served on, the same cruiser that both Dragen and Mortan still severed on.

The Forlon Hope limped to a Seijek city and set down for repairs, while Kadanac and Vislor franticly tried to figure out a better end to the events in route.  At the docks, Vislor was able to fast talk Dragen into remembering the old times and the two agreed to meet up and have a drink or two.  Dragen met Vislor at his ship, and was introduced to Kadanac.  The two left to catch up on old times, while Kadanac tended to the ship's repairs.

While Vislor was drinking up spirits, Kadanac was facing a life or death situation.  Upon meeting Kadanac, Dragen messaged Mortan to handle inspection of the Forlorn Hope.  Not for contraband, but to make sure that the alien was making the repairs properly.  Mortan found this as an excuse to make Kadanac and Vislor's life miserable.  Mortan's men taunted Kadanac, pushed him around, forced him to the edge.  Vislor had no clue what was going on while Dragen smiled and fed him stories of the past.

When Dragen's comm went off Vislor knew it was going to be bad.  When Dragen's smile faded into a flat emotionless face, Vislor knew it was worse then bad.  Dragen turned of his comm and looked a Vislor.  "Your Co-pilot was not compliant to Imperial rule, he resisted arrest when asked to prove his citiznship of the Empire....the alien provoked the guard and it was put down."

""IT" was put down?"

Vislor could not comment, in desbelief he ran out of the bar heading towards the docks that he had left only a few hours ago.  Imperial customs patrol officers stood around the scene, around the Forlon Hope.  Around a scene with a body covered with a plastic sheet.  Vislor's gut pulled one way as his mind raced the other.  He tried to get trought to Kadanac but each attempt only increased his chance to get arrested himself.

Dragen knew that when he sent Mortan and his men to his ship this would happen.  They didn't even care about the cargo that could have gotten both of them thrown in prision.  All they cared about was racism and revenge.  Vislor waited around Seijek city for the local security force to release Kadanac's body.  The Imperial Custom cruiser had already left the system a few days before.  He cremated Kadanac's body and had his remains gravity pressure formed into a gem, that one of his DUM-series pit droids now wears.

Vislor is a broken man.  Torn by angush over loosing his friend, angered by an Imperial system he though could give him a better life, wanting to taste revenge on the 2 people most directly responsible for his lot.

Clone Wars Mandalorians

Deathwatch, the name evokes a chill in those who have heard the stories. The group of Mandalorian radicals who adhere to the old ways of conquest. The recent attacks have brought them out of urban legend and into the light once more though, resulting in the return of their oldest foes.
Jaster Mereel's ideals, the Supercommando Codex, lived on through more than just Jango Fett. Those who followed it, the True Mandalorians, had been hunted down and nearly wiped out. Casius Cadera, a supercommando pilot, had been thought dead months before the treachery that slew all but Fett. He was lost in a Starfighter crash, but he owed his life to his armor, even though he fell into a two year coma and was still crippled.
His survival unknown, and his brothers all gone, he quietly rebuilt the True Mandalorians with the aid of only the most trusted companions.
---
Stepping out of the shadows, a blaster bolt lanced through the air and destroyed the assassin droid that had been poised to kill the woman he had been sent to find. Startled at being saved from her certain death she whipped around only to pale at the armored visage that greeted her.
"Are you here to kill me?" she questioned with as much dignity as she could muster.
Amused, the figure let out a chuckle.
"Now now Duchess Satine, no need to look at me like that. I'm your new bodyguard.
You didn't think, that with Deathwatch crawling out of their hole, that the true Mando'a would be gone either did you
?"

I desire a Clone Wars era Mandalorian campaign (obviously) set within the initial events of the Deathwatch arc of the show. The party would ideally consist of Mandalorians with the possibility of two tag alongs. One Jedi and Republic 'watchers'.
Starting level would ideally be 4-6 that way you represent well trained warriors and can be thrown into the events with little pause, as well as either a higher point buy or a dang good dice roll possibility.

Mission points
  • Exterminate Deathwatch
  • Protect Mandalore and her children (the planet)
  • Remind the Galaxy of the might of its fiercest warriors

Insert Game Idea Here

Due to popular demand, I'm going to start running solo/duo Star Wars games again.  They're a lot of work for me so I'm only going to accept a few players.

I like to start out solo games at a single setting.  But then players can travel away from there.  This time I've chosen The Wheel.  It has an interesting political situation, anyone could be passing through it, and it creates opportunities for characters who have any sort of loyalties to be there adventuring.  As my usual for solo games I'm doing it during the Rebellion Era.  I don't much care for Jedi and all their mumbo jumbo.  Having it set in the Rebellion Era prevents me having to read a billion requests to play Jedi, or worse, Sith.

Huh.  No, I don't think I got any RTJs for a bountyhunter, not per se.  There are a couple of characters who could do bountyhunter type jobs.  But they're not going for the Bountyhunter Prestige Class.  It's a little odd that no one requested that.  It's a good thing to because I don't really have any bountyhunter type jobs in mind.

Insert Game Idea Here

Any GMs out there willing to accept?
Proposed Game Summary: I want to play an 'android' jedi/bounty hunter

Character summary:
Name: Gambit
 Age: 23
 Species: Human
 Gender: Male
 Class/Specialisation:(Guardian or Consular)(or Force Adept) Jedi/Bounty Hunter
 Appearance
<------My current Portrait
Background & Goals:: A bounty Hunter who has little jedi power, but capable of developing more power. He is on the middle betweeen dark and good. He may go darkside and move up in ranks and be someone of importance and becoming an emperor or something.

What sorts of things does your character what to achieve?
Fight and destroy other jedi, or others who go against what my character believes in.
What do you want your character to achieve?
To be stronger and develope more jedi powers
Is there anything specific you want or don't want to have happen?
I don't want my character killed off. Haha

Scale between Railroad and Sandbox: How much do you want each of us to be in charge of the direction of the plot? Me to put you on a set course, or give you free reign to wander the world/universe and tell you what you find?
I would like a set of two railroads and free reign to choose from the two and may become a traitor. Or work on both sides (sort of like Zechs Merquise in Gundam Wing who fought on both sides and sometimes concealed his identity)
Let me know what you think
Please reply
Thanks for your time
Cheers

Desired House rules:
Star Wars Saga
or any Star Wars

Posting rate: once every couple days

I would need help creating a background and character sheet

Insert Game Idea Here

Looking for someone to GM a game thats already in play or to co-gm

link to another game

The current GM deals with ADD and depression which can be an impediment for him and his confidence to keep the game going isnt very good.

The concept is sound and the squad is made up of 4 (Squad Leader, Sniper, Demolitions Specialist and Medic) with room for a Technician.

The game is just in recruitment phase.  Two already accepted with 2 just working up their backstories before being added.

If a GM wished to take the whole set of reigns then perhaps the current GM could play the technician.

Just thought I'd try to help him out by checking here
