Re: Discussion - New Releases

I'm not sure that this is the right thread but since it comes from a fairly new release...

I noticed while looking at the Covenant Shadow in the KotOR CG that it's listed as having the Talent "Visions". Have I had a complete brain fart? Where is that Talent from?

That's a Force talent under the Sense category from the core rules.  Page 101.

I can't wait for the S&V book. I <3 smugglers, pirates, and all the seedy underbelly of the Star Wars galaxy.

Re: Discussion - New Releases

I mainly want it because various items in the KotOR guide refer to the customization expansion slots in S&V.  Kinda bothers me that they referenced rules that hadn't yet been released.

Re: Discussion - New Releases

Keep in mind that they didn't in any way make references that meant you had to have S&V to use KotOR - the item upgrade rules works fine just the way they are in KotOR, but if you do get S&V, you'll be able to use those instead, if you so choose.  And, really, that's a good thing - it saves the developers the trouble of people getting on the WotC forums and whining (not that the people over there will ever quit that, but...) about how the books aren't connected and just ignore each other.  As it is, you don't need anything from S&V to use KotOR, but when S&V is released, you already know how it'll interact with KotOR.  Simple as that, really.

Okay.  Looked a little further into that, and it seems I was just skipping over some important pages, namely the Weapon and Armor Accessories section in KotOR's equipment chapter.

Re: Discussion - New Releases

Not a new release in the traditional way, but I figure this thread was the best one to put this in - WotC has some new errata and rules clarifications up at their site, which I reccomend you all check out:

Re: Discussion - New Releases

Those rules are (like wealth) very powerfull. A Wealth PC now has SO MUCH CASH. I know it's not all about the gear, but as some of my players have learned, a little cash can go a long way. 4d10X2 anyone?

Re: Discussion - New Releases

The only PCs with Wealth who will be getting more cash, are ones with levels in classes like Crime Lord, which also gets access to the Wealth talent:

quote:
p. 36 – Class Level vs. Character Level Sidebar
Add the following sentence to the end of the sidebar: “If a talent refers to your class level but does not specify a class, it means the combined number of levels in all classes that grant access to that talent.”

Re: Discussion - New Releases

Yes, but that means the Batman (who took wealth at level 1) is going to be richer... I like the errata though, and I need to print it out and memorize it.

Re: Discussion - New Releases

Only for the levels he takes in Crime Lord, which I've yet to see in more than a single (potential, not actually used in any games I've been involved with) character build.  Don't think it makes much of a difference, really - except for the wealthy crime lords, and really - the class gives access to Wealth, it had better count for how much credits they get.  :p

Re: Discussion - New Releases

I'll really enjoy the clone wars book when it comes out. I've run a few games in the clone wars era and my players really loved it. There are a lot of possibilities for this little three years of galactic history.

Does it say when the book is coming out? Sometime next year?

Re: Discussion - New Releases

Interesting, they're actually putting out a Rebellion Era Campaign guide? The KoTOR guide, Force Unleashed, and Clone Wars one I can see, since there needed to be a lot more fleshed out for those, but Rebellion era? I mean, in my thinking, a Guide comes out to flesh out the areas where one might not know a lot about whats going on. And while there could be a lot of behind the scenes stuff in the Rebellion Era, I'm just not so certain it needs a whole guide for it.

On that front, I wonder if they'll go forward in the time stream and give us a New Republic Guide (would include everything from end of RoTJ through Yuuzahn Vong) and Legacy of the Force Guide (current book series and/or the comic series).

Re: Discussion - New Releases

Not Legacy of the Force, just Legacy - there's a description of the book in the first post in this thread, but basically, it's covering the era of the Legacy comic books, not that of the Legacy of the Force.

And, I think Rebellion Era CG will be good, especially for GMs who are fairly new to Star Wars, or at least the Expanded Universe - hopefully, it'll help flesh out the era beyond what we saw in the original trilogy, but also give good tips on how to run games in the era (like the Force Unleashed CG did for the Dark Times).  More information on the Rebel Alliance, perhaps using the organization-structure from TFU, would also be nice, I think.  So, yeah - assuming it keeps the high standard the Saga line has set so far, I'll be buying it, for sure.
