No new riddle yet?  I'd be tapping my foot impatiently, if I had feet.

I'll have to get to it. These things take some thinking. Must get to my Thinking Spot

With my wrath run wild,
The younger one I did slay,
And a fourth of mankind,
Fell also that day.

Every line of this is literal. The answer is not metaphorical.

I thought a snake would know this after tempting Adam and Eve...

Re: Riddle Me This XIV

Oooooh... this is like a biblical reference isn't it...? The 'younger' one is Cain killing Abel, and the 'fell' is... Eve eating the apple? I'm still not sure what the answer is though. Is it... Lucifer? Human nature? Free will?

Re: Riddle Me This XIV

Are there references to Apocalypse?
"Sin" would be a metaphorical answer... so... maybe an angel/devil? mumble mumble...

I think Grant has it right, the answer is Cain.

I should have said "died" instead of "fell." Going strictly by the Bible, the four people on earth were Adam, Eve, Cain and Abel, so he killed a fourth of mankind when he killed Abel.

Birthed by stones,
I fly seeking food to bite;
For if I find it not,
I live but a momentary life.

Re: Riddle Me This XIV

This seems appropriate for most birds and many flying insects like flies, mosquitoes and butterflies... but that birthed by stones... hum... then there is that reference to food to bite that makes me think about a mouth rather than a bird's beak, so it may be referred to bats, but it may also be referred to insects again... I suspect that, if we can connect the stones with the right kind of animal...

Re: Riddle Me This XIV

If it's bats, could "birthed by stones" be flying out of a cave, or is that too far of a stretch?

And isn't all life but momentary, in the big scheme of things?  We're all just a tiny blip in time.
