(Game idea by Heath)

This is a simpler version of the cliffhanger game I started previously.  It is called the "So-But Game."

One poster states a fact, and the next one states what goes wrong, and the next one states "so..." in response, like this:

P1: A girl wanted a necklace...
P2: ...but she didn't have any money...
P3: ...so she got a job in a factory...
P4: ...but was fired before she got the money...
P5: ...so she ended up on the street as a prostitute...
P6: ...but she fell in love with her client...
P7: ...so she married him...
P8: ...but he was too poor to buy the necklace...
P9: ...so she cut off her hair to sell it...
P10: ...but it too full of lice to be sold...

And on and on like this.  As you can see, you can revert back to the original premise or just keep in going responding only to the previous post.  After awhile, a poster can start a new but-so game with a new premise/character.

An owl wanted a mouse...

but he was too stupid to find one..

So he asked a snake for help.

but the snake wanted to eat the owl.

So they fought to the death

but death wasn't the end of their fighting..

So they kept fighting.

But a psychopomp intervened!

so now it was a three way

But the owl was too hungry to fight.

so they turned it into a pillow fight instead

But they had no pillows.

so they used owls.

but they couldn't find Yoss...

But Yoss was one of the participants.

so they found yoss after all

But Yoss wasn't keen on being equipment.

so he started kicking and biting everyone!

but he had no legs or teeth.

so he tried gumming everybody to death...

but they just giggled.

so he went looking for a board with a nail in it for a weapon

but he broke the board on the first swing...

so he just used the nail...

but he only got was fingernails

so he used those instead...

but they broke easily

so he went down town to get a mani

but the asian ladies misunderstood him and gave him a pedi

so he had pretty awesome toenails.

but he didn't take care of them

so they chipped.

but then one caught on a sock he was donning.

so it tore a hole in the sock

but now he didnt have an extra pair

so he went sockless

but the floor were covered with germs and viruses.

so he poured some bleach..

but the bleach was empty

so he tried to find a bacon...

but there was only FL and FL.

So he devised a plan to use FL to his advantage.

but FL always was a disadvantage.

so he figured out a new plan...

but the plan sucked.

so they all went and got icecream

but i hate ice cream

so you had cake instead.

but he couldn't have his cake, and eat it too

so I tried devising a plan to have the cake while eating it at the same time?

but the Riddler and Penguin teamed up to defeat this plan of yours...

so everyone got paid big, in an advertising pyramid scheme of epic proportions

but then they found out that Madoff was running the pyramid scheme and had taken all the money...

so they proceeded to mob together with pitchforks and torches

but it was raining...

so they called in mad max instead.

but mad max had AIDS that day

so he went to the raiders for help.

but they are out of AIDS cure

so he prayed to Gary Gygax for a cure disease spell

but Gary Gygax is DEAD

So we made a robot with his BRAIN.

By a classic-case typo resulted in us building a robot named BRIAN who didn't know anything about diseases.

So he made his own and wondered why it didn't work

But Mad Max died of his disease

So he arrived in the afterlife at the gates of heaven...

But the gates were locked...

So he had to go find the key...

But it was already in his pocket...

So he tried climbing the fence instead and got lasered off

but he still wanted into Heaven

So he started building a teleporter

but it could only send him a few feet.

So he placed it right next to the gate

But the gate was more than a few feet thick.

So, he tried climbing the gate instead

But he got caught by the heaven police

So he went to heaven jail

but heaven jail was made out of clouds so he punched his way out to freedom

So, the clouds parted beneath him and he started to fall

But he had a parachut

So he pulled the release cord

But it was stuck

So he pulled his backup chute

But it failed also....

So he hit the ground and his spirit went SPLAT!

But there was a stunt cushion to break his fall.

So he got back up.

but bumped his head on a hanging light and fell over ANOTHER ledge

So he fell into the underworld.

But he had a bell, book, and candle.

So he decided to write some Christmas Carols in the dark.

...but someone turned the light on...

So he wandered over to ask the caretaker of the underworld when they had lights installed...

But the caretaker of the underworld was busy...being sexy

So he decided to comit suicide.

but there was nothing there to commit to anything.

So he went insane

but he went nowhere instead.

So he was institutionalized.

but he went elsewhere I guess.

But it turned out he wasn't actually crazy enough.

so kagura instead became the heroine of the story

But she wasn't particularly heroic.

so she was more like the loser of the story.

But she slowly learned what she had to do to become a hero.

so she became super-loser.

But she was really a hero

so she was a hero who was named loser.

But that was her code name.

So her real name was her weakness

but her maiden name was strength.

So she used it to conquer Australia.

but it turns out kangaroos make crappy subjects, they don't brush their teeth and don't pay their taxes.

but thier alot better than koalas

So they decided to insult FourLegged

But uh!!! uhhh! they didn't mean all koalas!!!

So they decided to only offend the koala that they know, (namely FourLegged.)

But then they rememberd that they had written down that fourlegged wasn't included beacuse he was far to cuddly and squishable.

So they asked FourLegged for alcoholic beverages.

But all he had was eucalyptus leaves.

So despite any probable hurt feelings from earlier slights, FourLegged made and served powerful eucalyptus based alcoholic drinks.

but that koala joke sometimes gets old.

So they ordered something else.

But it was horrible.

So the koala went back to eucalyptus based drinks.

But they were not fresh enough.

So...They saw a saw movies instead.

But the movies didn't have enough eucalyptus.

So they munched on leaves while they watched.

but they were dry leaves..

So they sprayed them with a hose.

but now they were too soggy.

So we went to a Chinese restaurant instead.

but we werent chinese.

So they didn't believe us when we told them we were just to get a discount

but we went to a roach coach instead,

So there were roaches?

but there really were.

So no one had a good time.

But roaches are high in protein!

So they all built muscle.

But those muscles soon deflated

So they decided to drink muscle milk.

But the milk was terribly soured.

So they decided to try out for the local wrestling team.

But the wrestling coach was a brick. Literally.

So wrestling him/it was very easy.

But that hardly helped them build any muscle.

So they took the brick and threw it through someone's window.

But the old lady who owned the window chased them down with a sword.

So they ran very fast.

But all of a sudden, the ground opened up beneath them.

So they fell.

But just when they thought all hope was lost, a terribly random pterodactyl swooped out from behind the clouds and caught them all in its massive beak.

So the pterodactyl ate them.

But, unfortunately for the dinosaur, it collided with a skyscraper immediately upon swallowing its meal.

So they ended up inside the skyscraper, and had to crawl out of the dino's stomach...

But, as anybody else who has shared that experience knows, that is a revolting task at the best of times.

So some of them lost their lunch just like the 'dactyl.

But that was all right, after showering, they went down to a nice burger place that had no roaches.

So they ate delicious, heart-clogging frozen patties.

But lost a few teeth in the process.

So they had to go to the dentist to get new ones.

But the dentist charged phenomenally high fees that could only be paid by the most wealthy of men.

So they had to find jobs.

but with the recession and all...

So they went to the welfare office

So they decided to harvest parts from the pterodactyl to try and sell to museums to pay off their dentist bills.

but we have a double post

So we'll just continue on like it never happened.

but...but... but....

So he turned into a babbling idiot...

but the real idiot was the scot man..

So the virus had his head cut off, Highlander-style.

but the highlander is too old of a series...

So we watched the movies.

but they are still too old!!

So they watched them anyway.

So they all gained 23 years of age, instantly.

but the 23 year old people in this generation doesnt even know them or is it just me?

So they went for a walk in the park.

But, unfortunately, the park randomly got swallowed up by an evil fish who was being carried around by the Amazing Multiplying Butler who was also known as George.

So George made the fish spit out the people and the park.

But the fish really didn't want to, so to be rebellious, it spit them out in reverse order. People first, park second.

But the people had a shovel.

So the shoveled their way out, only to find that the angry fish had gone on a rampage.

But he left everyone alive. He just ate all the birds in the world.

So after that! he wanted soup!

But turtles wouldn't get cooked

So he had to find something else to cook.

But there was no food.

so they eyed turtlewax mischievously.

But he's still not food...

so they thought of a way to make him food.

But failed.

so they set their sights on grant for interupting the soup making.

But he couldn't be seen...

so they found him after much searching.

But he's part ninja so he threw a smoke bomb and escaped.

so they found him again as the cycle repeats.

But he threw smoke again, which eventually gave SV cancer.

but SV was a blob. he's the very thing that makes cancers.

But he still had a cancerous tumor in his lungs.

So maybe he was just a head.

But then he'd have cancer of the brain.

so he just made it his life goal to catch turtlewax and eat him/her before he himself died.

But the cancer was already at an advanced stage.

so he needed to work faster

But TW was nowhere to be found.

so he tried another way. a vixcis way,

But Vixcis wasn't around either.

so sv killed grant for making his life on this game harder than usual.

But Grant's a GM now and he can't die.

so he got demoted.

But SV can't demote people.

Se he (SV) got demoted by Grant instead.

But that sounds like a good idea... >:)

So Grant went and did it.

But SV disappeared...

So DarkRoot found him.

But promptly found SV to be quite smelly...

So they left him in his box.

But he broke out.

So he went to prison instead.

But the prison was vaporized by aliens.

So they just killed him.

But he's a virus, he's not alive to begin with.

So they just put him in a glass jar and welded the lid on.

But someone smashed the jar.

So Grant stepped on the broken glass and cut his toes.

But Darkroot gave Grant a Band-Aid

So Grant gave him a hug. A man-hug.

But DarkRoot wasn't in the mood for no man hug, so he pitied Grant away.

So Grant gave him a manly high-five.

But Darkroot didn't want a high five, and hit Grant instead

So Grant sadfaced at DarkRoot.

But Dawna smacked Grants face before he could

So Grant had to ask the question, "Why is everyone hitting me?"

but no one was listening.

so he asked again

But everybody was RPing everybody else and Grant never got an answer.

so he decided just to give up and start worshipping Mr. T instead

But Chuck Norris disapproved of this.

So Chuck Norris decided to throw Grant off a building

But Glinda the Good Witch came out of nowhere and made a humungous fluffy pillow appear for Grant to land on.

But Grant landed next to the pillow instead

So Glinda healed all of Grant's wounds.

But Chuck Norris didn't like this so he made her unable to fly and then threw her and Grant off the same building...again

So Glinda used her magic to stop herself and Grant about three feet above the ground.

But Chuck Norris doesn't let her, and they just keep falling until they hit the pavement below.

So they are instantly teleported to the world of Pokemon before they are badly hurt.

But Chuck Norris and Mr. T both declare that there's no such place, and so they still hit the pavement. Hard.

So Glinda changes reality's understanding of pavement to be that of jello, and they bounce softly and safely

But then they start falling through the jello slowly.

So Chuck Norris makes it so they can breathe in Jello

AWESOME!

But Glinda eats all the Jello.

So Glinda gets fat.

But Grant's under Glinda.

So Grant gets squished by a fat witch

But Chuck Norris decides to spare Grant, and so flings Glinda off Grant and towards Canada.

So Canada sinks to the bottom of the ocean.

But the water level drops with it... saving the Canadians.

So Chuck roundhouse kicks a map with Canada on it and it explodes.

But Canada is explosion proof!

So Canada is not blown up.

But Chuck Norris is killed by the back blast!!

So Chuck Norris is revived by his own awesomeness- everyone knows he can't be killed so easily.

But it's not really Chuck... it's a demon who has come onto this plane to inhabit his corpse!

So Van Helsing guns down the demon with his wicked crossbow dipped in holy water!

But Van 'Hugh Jackman' Helsing is so evil he has corrupted his own holy water... so the demon survives!

So, Mr. T beats Van Helsing for taking too long

But explodes whilst doing so!

So, Mr. T survives kuz he's explosion proof

But Madman moved Grants hand!, so that Grant ended up smacking his own Butt!

So Grant uses his Jedi Mind powers to convince Madman to jump off the ASWOT boat.

But Madman is not feeble minded enough for jedi mind tricks and instead pushes grant butt first off the boat instead! Tragically his large butt generates a tsunami that destroys Japan!

so zombie hitler was in japan, but a tsunami was headed his way. He decided to use his magic zombie powers to deflect the tsunami towards haiti (considering they dont deserve it, and hitlers a jerk).

You have to use a "so" statement after a "but" statement.

But the poor Haitian's had been slapped with enough trauma, what with the earthquake and all, so they redirected the tsunami to America... demolishing California!

but due to californians having one trick left up their sleeve, they called the governator. So the governator punched the wave with his terminator powers untill it got redirected at japan (again).

But Japan used their awesome tech to redirect it again.

So it was launched towards the Atlantic Ocean.

...but it ended up in the Artic Ocean...

So the Arctic Ocean redirected it back at Canada.

But polar bears ate it!

Wait, i thought grant always wins unless ... ooooooooooh right. Nevermind, he's wrong, its not a full moon so he's not a werewolf yet. Otherwise i'd  be worried for the safety of your head, concerning its connection to your neck. From what i remember, Darkroot told me of a long tale where grant got bitten in the head by a werewolf, and every full moon since he's eaten the heads of people he has slight disagreements with. Tsk Tsk, poor grant.

So it blew up the polar bears!

But the polar bear bits became ghost poolar bears!

So they were hunted by the Ghostbusters...

But they ate the Ghostbusters too

So Luigi came out of his mansion...

Btu he was scared out of his wits at polar bear ghosts, and ran screaming for his mommy

So the ghosts took over Mushroom Kingdom and captured Princess Peach.

Btu Bowser kidnapped her first

So they had to use all of there platforming skills to defeat 8 worlds of Bowser's enemies and obstacles to save and then recapture Princess Peach.

But they failed to clear level 1

So Mario took up the job and used warp zones, whistles and cannons to skip directly to bowser and defeat him.

But the cannons exploded, killing Mario

So Bowser ruled Mushroom Kingdom with an iron fist!

But since his fist was made of iron, he couldn't lift it.

So he got it removed.

But he no longer has a right hand.

So he was unable to to stop the rebellion of the hammer bros.

But they were pwnd by Toad and Yoshi, Bowsers slaves

So they made an alliance with the chain chomps and and snuck into Bowser's castle through the secret back entrance.

But bowser melted the chain chomps with his fire breath.

So the hammer bros.  had to use his weakness of his not having a right hand to its fullest advantage.

But he learned to fight with his left hand.

So they had to call on Inigo Montoya.

But they called in Bob the builder instead, and he was killed

So they were forced to escape into Donkey Kong Country where they met Donkey Kong.

And also Captain Falcon. "Falcon Puuuuunch!"

So they just decided they would merge all of the world into a Super Smash Bros. world.

But Master Hand invaded

So they had to defeat him at the end of Classic mode.

But he cheated and came back to life.

So the characters petitioned to Nintendo.

But Nintendo ignored them and just made a sequel... with motion controls!

So they started a rebellion and stuck it to the man!

But the man had two hands so he was able to rise up against the ridicule of his anti-Nintendo oppressors.

So Nintendo franchises died one by one.

But then the Hammer Bros came back, this time fighting *with* Mario

So the man was defeated and sunk into a pit of fiery flames.

But nothing stays defeated forever.

So it all began again - only this time Mario was packing a lightsaber -and- the hammer of Thor.

But then Legions of Force using Koopas attacked...

So there was a defence of marshmellows and rainbows.

But they were killed with fire.

So they went to the Underworld...

But were stopped by evil minions from the dimension of rabid accountants...

So they threw bones made of fiscal terms at their feet.

But the bones mysteriously exploded without warning before they reached the evil minions.

So they ran away from the sound of crunching numbers.

But then they ran into Cerberus...

So they played him to sleep with a lute!

But he was wearing earmuffs.

so they doused him with some really cheap aftershave

But he was immune to its effects...

So they ran the other way and through the door...

But they were stopped by a mime making an invisible wall.

So they pretended to walk down stairs and found themselves sink to the next level of Hell...

But Vixcis was there waiting for them!

So they flashed her...

But she was looking the other way

So, she failed to notice the car coming...

But the car swerved...

So they flashed the car too...

but the car paid no attention.

So there was a 20 car pile-up

But it was swiftly cleared using an extra-large, Aerial Magnet(tm)

So the corpses and survivors of the pile-up were cruelly magnetized.

OOC: Am I wrong, but are "they" Mario Brothers and Bob the Builder?  I don't even know who we're talking about...

But their rotting bodies accidentally fell on "them", covering them in the stench...

So the rescue crew sprayed some deodorizer on them.

But the deoderizer was actually gasoline

So they lit a match...

But the matches wouldn't light

So Heath destroyed them all and stood next to Vixcis...

OOC: I'm too confused about who's doing what.  I know Vixcis is here, but not sure about anyone else, so this kind of resets it?

But Vixcis brings THEM all back to life...

OOC: BWAHAHA

So EoJ destroys them again irreversably.

But Fiddles cries until EoJ fixes it.

So EoJ watches Fiddles cry for centuries without fixing it since it's irreversable.

OOC: I've made it so irreverable, even I can't reverse it!

But Fiddles cries so hard that it causes a rift in the space time continuum, sending EoJ back in time to just before he made it irreversible.

So EoJ makes the same decision as to avoid creating a paradox.

But this generates a cycle where time keeps looping back on itself, slowly destroying the universe every time the space time continuum is stretched his way.

So EoJ summons his keyblade and defeats Fiddles in a duel to stop it.

Fiddles is defeated but continues crying...
