Re: Third Delve

"There's something still inside the sarcophagus, something magical, an item perhaps" Thea says as she reaches forward to grab the staff.  "I believe the curse on the sarcophagus itself," she spares a glance at the corpse of the fallen Regan, "has been expended and is no longer a threat, at least for the moment."

Holding the staff in her hand, she continues.  "This staff is named Nubis, and it is willing to assist us, as it is quite eager to leave this tomb."

OOC: hopefully I'm not coming off as too greedy in picking up/claiming the staff - when it fell from Biror's hands she wasn't certain at the time if that was just a result of the sarcophagus curse, or if it was something inherent to the staff.  The fact that the staff is mentally communicating with her mentally is something she's taking as a good sign for her to use it.

Does Biror have a magic staff?  If not, Thea can give him the one that she had been using.

Re: Third Delve

Slowly, Biror gets up and looks again inside the sarcophagus, looking for clues while others decipher the scroll.
10:51, Today: Biror rolled 6 with the Tunnels & Trolls, Saving Throws system.  Looking for clues.
Biror is not really interested in a magic staff, preferring melee or range weapons. At any rate, he was about to offer it to Thea.

Re: Third Delve

"No find hidden atama," Kade sadly reports to the dwarf as he looks inside. Saviour too looks puzzled. "Only slidy-" openinng gesture "- with long-long leaf?" He unfurls the found scroll with a dramatic flick, then, if it's not a map of some kind, tosses it over his tiny shoulder and right out of the sarcophagus! (for Thea or korg to pick up if they want :) ). "How is Old One? Bad pain come back soon?"

The non-stop mysteries of the tomb, plus the recent death, seem to be getting to him.

He wipes the sweat from his brow, almost panting in the ongoing heat.

OOC: I think the extra item might be the scroll, do we already found it? Might be wrong about that though

Korg takes all of Thea's statements in and then nods. "That all works for me. I say take the staff, and let's move onward," he offers.

Re: Third Delve

Thea turns her attention to the growing flame from the pot with her magical senses.

Expending another point of WIZ via Omnipotent Eye toward the pot, to see what is causing the flame to increase.

OOC: yeah, somehow I had missed a couple of posts when I wrote my last post, it's probably the scroll that Thea was detecting.  Apologies for the confusion.

Re: Third Delve

The scroll falls to the floor and rolls away from the sarcophagus. Kade and Biror find nothing else of note inside the sarcophagus. Not even a body oddly enough...

The flame in the pot rises even higher, reaching up over six feet. Thea senses summoning magic at work. Then the flames part and out steps a massive blackened figure with blazing red eyes.

Thea grips her new staff tightly in her hands, suspecting that the new arrival may well be a threat that they can not defeat - especially given her depleted magical energies at the moment - but determined to go down fighting if it comes to that.

Biror:
"What... What are you?" he asks, as if in a dream.

"Who you?" agrees Kade with an accusing finger. He's flipped up on top of the other end of the opened big box, one feet on each corner so he's about level with the new apparition. "Fire Eye Atama one that hurt Kade's friends before?"

Saviour barks once from the back.

The charred figure looks over all of you, its eyes finally coming to rest on the staff held by Thea. It steps toward her, ignoring the rest of you, and reaches out to take the staff.

"Die, Monhot," Thea says softly, but loud enough that both her companions and the approaching entity can hear her.  "Die again!"  With that, she releases the majority of her depleted magical energies into a destructive bolt of energy against the approaching threat.

OOC: casting a level 2 TTYF, 32 points of damage, 8 WIZ expended, which leaves Thea (I think) with 2 pts of WIZ remaining (or maybe three, not certain).

If Thea's spell doesn't destroy it, Korg will also cast TTYF (level 1).

Re: Third Delve

Thea and Korg blast the advancing creature with magical power. The combined force blasts a hole in it's midsection, but that does not stop Mohot. As the warriors and rogues surround him, weapons drawn, he lashes out with powerful claws.

Kade's enchanted short sword appears to have full effect against Mohot, but the rest seem to be less effective.

Despite your numbers, Mohot forces you back, inflicting some damage, although your armor saves you from the worst.

All normal damage to Kade, Thurek, Biror, Fetcher, and Jax is absorbed by armor. 1 point of spite damage each to Thurek and Fetcher.

Mohot is damaged by the two TTYF spells plus takes 4 spite damage.

"My dagger is magic. My hatchet is not." answers Biror, clenching his teeth because of his lack of his depleted magic power. He strikes again anyway, hoping it will be sufficient to vanquish their foe.

09:45, Today: Biror rolled 37 using 6d6+21 with rolls of 1,2,3,4,1,5.  Ax and magic dagger attack.

Note: probably made a mistake in previous rolls, as both Biror's magic dagger and hand ax have 3 dice.

Saviour leaps to the attack with bared teeth, but Kade rolls-in between, interposing, and gestures her wildly back towards the gold room: "No! Back Lakulmia! Back! You hurt! Kade and family, WE beat bad Man-hot!"

All that is accompanied by a mighty slash at the back of the Burnt One's knees: "For New One!"

09:40, Today: Kade SpiritShaker rolled 45 using 5d6+29 with rolls of 5,5,2,1,3.  No legs to stand on

Slattery pile in to rain down blows from his sword, hoping that Thea's magic will reinforce his main blade. He tries to smack the creature around with the dagger in his off-hand on the chance it does something.

[OOC: 14:45, Today: Slattery rolled 42 using 9d6+8 ((2,6,3,3,3,3,5,4,5)). That's the shortsword with vorpal blade on and my combat adds. I also rolled a 6 and a 5 on the 2d6+2 for my dagger if that helps.]

Re: Third Delve

As Slattery closed in to the melee, Thea enchanted his blades in a now well-practiced bit of maneuvering between the two, hoping that this particular bit of small magic that she can still manage will make a difference in the outcome of the fight.

OOC: casting Vorpal Blade on Slattery's weapon(s).

That leaves Thea with just one point of WIZ, so she has only one TTYF or Vorpal Blade left in the tank.
