Karma considers this. A substantial injury right now meant relying on the autodoc. Which can handle most things including basic surgeries, but no one on board is that knowledgeable and an autodoc has no intuition.

"Very well Dr Soboleskii. I will put you up in one of our staterooms for the duration of your stay. We have a cargo delivery and a passenger delivery in this system, so you dont have to worry about a jump. If all goes well, you can be back here in a few days at most."

"You may want to get a few things from your quarters. Like I said, we are leaving in an hour or so." She suggests.

"Thank you, I'll be back in 30 minutes and we'll get everything straightened out as soon as possible." He informs her.

Eldorado would have liked to buy a 3rd Core, and spare parts, so as to build a 3rd server - they are so obviously the target of sabotage ! The 3rd server would be in pristine and virgin condition, he dreams.

As soon as he's back on board, Eldorado installs the new Core in its structure, connects it and starts to install the system and the software, before copying the data from KATARINA-2. He wonders how to name the new server: KATARINA-1b ? KATARINA-3 would be logical!

He finally settles for KATARINA-1, because that name is already written in many programs. Hopefully, not in the residual virus in Engineering and Comms.

Lex thinking about setting up a maintenance bay also ordered a work bench and storage racks.  The Fabricator Chamber will have to wait for another day, not enough time.

Delighted by girls shopping spree Billianah suggests several items they could consider; while perusing several possible items.

There were so many items in different directions, that at one point the three of the women have to separate to speed things along.  They agree to meet back up at the central monument, a walled off large outcropping of rock reputed to be from the topmost peak on Regina. It has archaic paintings and pictographs from an ancient civilization adorning some of its rough surfaces. 

An hour later, each returns, Billianah being the last to show up and slightly out of breath.  All items are accounted for and contained on two grav units. It is a pleasant return trip to the ship.  The fact that some of the trendy bags contained dresses or other items, might have something to do with their glee.

Dawn watches as the captain walks down the ramp and off into the distance.  She can see her down the lane get onto a transport before it zips away like a speeder.

"Where are you off to Captain?" she mutters aloud, her voice echoing in her ears from the boarding vacc-suit helmet.  Dawn walks the ramp, watching as the last of the cargo is loaded into place.  The mech-bot leaves and Harry fastens the load to the deck.  He double checks each strap.  Perhaps unknown to Harry, Dawn has walked to every tied down he leaves and checks it as well.  It might bother the gunner for her to do so, but she does not care.  It is not a criticism of his work, it is just safety in checking. More than one spacer has been killed by flying cargo not tied down.


She approaches Harry.  "That's it then.  Eighty tonnes of cargo loaded.  Now, we got grav units outside with all manner of shyte on them.  It looks like Levi, Lex, and Fatboy have been busy buying up the station.  I will bring the first in while you use the iris opener on the missile bay door.  No where else to put all this crap."

Dawn walks down the ramp and meets the first grav vehicle with raw ship materials operated by a mech-bot. It greets her, then pushes the grav unit through the cargo area and into the missile bay at Dawn's direction.  The grav unit has a built on jib hoist for unloading heavy materials.  Harry begins working it as Dawn goes for another grav unit.

At the ramp, she sees Dr. Soboleskii and waves as he approaches pulling a grav-tote behind him.  "The captain has assigned you to her guest stateroom.  Please follow me."

Dawn leads the surgeon to the guest stateroom just off the doors to the captain's residence.

"Please make yourself comfortable.  I'm sure the captain will wish to speak more with you, but it may be after we take off." 

"Thank you miss, I will, I appreciate the hospitality. Can you point me to the med facilities then too, I'm going to act as doctor for a short bit as you are currently without, sorry for your loss. Crew is family." he says with a sad look in his eye, she could tell he was sincere.

When the bot finishes installing the patch on the hull, it took a bit more than two hours, Phillip comes into the missile bay while they are putting away pallets there and begins to seal the seams to seal the ship up tight. It takes him 90 minutes to complete the job, she should be space worthy again!

With her duties done, the cargo on board and the repairs underway, Tanja excuses herself from everyone. She opens the door to Theo's stateroom and spends time collecting together all of his belongings. Of all the people on the ship, she had felt closest to the doctor and took it upon herself to sort and store his possessions.

He'd never really talked about his life before the Katerina, she realised. None of them had, not really. She didn't know if there was a family to send his belongings to. He'll, she had to fight the urge to put everything into a charit store or dump it into space once they were flying again. But she realised she was just trying to avoid the fact that one of them had been killed and for what exactly??

She took.her time, collecting everything and boxing it up. Then, once they were all stored and locked down she disappeared to her own stateroom and lay on the bed. They'd all been running on adrenaline for so long and she needed a short, energy boosting nap before she would climb back onto the bridge and fly them away from here

They could wait. She set her alarm, forty minutes would do. In that time the repairs would be well underway and she could help out.

Just forty minutes.

Catching up with the others she jiggles several bags she's carrying. "This place is a veritable Plunderers Paradise."  she beams. When they got back to the Empress Billianah headed to her cabin stored her acquisitions then logged on to check the Market APP she had setup.

Adriannah agreed as she also picked up some items that caught her eye. After stowing these in her cabin Adriannah checked on the Passenger.

"Come" Dr. Sargeny Marksputin says when the chime sounds. The sliding door opens and the young attendant enters.  He closes his computer and stands.

"Is everything okay?" The scientist asks, pushing his spectacles up the bridge of his long nose. The trip thus far has been rather unpleasant and so he does not know what to expect. The last update from the captain indicated they were docked for cargo loading and that if he should leave, to be back within a couple of hours. He has no notion of leaving. In  fact, he is rather anxious to be under way. He hopes there is not a delay. Something had happened to the ship, but the captain would not elaborate.

When the new comms gear arrived back on ship, after everything was stored away for their voyage, a tired Harry began work fixing the Comms ship wide that got destroyed by the virus and the explosion! He hoped to get a bit of help, but doubted it, as they all had their own tasks to perform.

Adriannah related the details she understood about the situation to Dr. Sargeny Marksputin. She asks if he'd care to meet with the Captain to discuss any concerns he may have.

"Oh my. A death?" The scientist exclaims. It was becoming clear that Marjori hired the wrong crew to ferry him to the station at Balnefaer. Nothing to do anout it now.

"Goodness no. I am fine. Eager to get to the station. Thank you for your concern."

Levi spent his time ensuring the internal repairs were progressing as needed, and double checked everything. When each system was ready he started running tests and simulations to ensure the repairs would hold under pressure.

He wanted the Katerina to fly, and needed her to be whole and healthy.

Harry McStubbins, now into his thirteenth active hour, makes repairs on the remote communications module in the crawlspace beneath the engineering deck.  He removes the old unit, and installs the new one without any issues to speak of.  Once power is applied, the communications module automatically initiates a handshake with the computer and Harry is left looking at a happy green LED lit module display that shows routing and data speed information.

Lexon is busy with the maintenance deliveries and has no time for the gravitics array controller card replacement.  It is up to Levi or Phillip to perform that duty.  One of them has it installed in minutes.  The manual decoupler is switched back to automatic and the unit powers up to a familiar hum.  The LEDs inside the controller are all green.

Upon seeing the expense list, Eldorado becomes red with annoyance, and swears to himself that next time he has to purchase something worth MCr5, he'll go escorted with someone who can haggle. Even a 5% rebate is worth Cr250,000...

Eldorado guides the delivery mech-bot with the new backup Model 20 computer into the CoC. The mech-bot sets the unit down and awaits the payment. Eldorado taps the icon on his wrist band for the Vcard and the transaction is completed. With the voice of a drone the mech-bot says, "Thank you. Have a nice day.", then exits the ship. Dawn follows the bot's every move. Her boarding vacc-suit is intimidating to humans, but the mech-bot heeds her not.

While Lex is dealing with the maintenance deliveries he is also mentally thinking on how to configure the bay.  Where to place the work bench, where to place the tools so that they are quickly rederived and how to organize everything.

He thinks to himself "Did I get a label maker?  I need a label maker."

1107.321 0342hrs UST - Regina High Port Station

Karma Starwind exits the transport and enters the ship from the ramp.  She finds all equipment and deliveries have been boarded and so activates the closure of the ramp before making her way to the crew lounge.  The table is still in place.  She calls all crew to the lounge for a meeting and waits till everyone is present while Dr. Soboleskii remains in his stateroom.

"The meeting with the General Products agent did not go well." she says.  "Allegations of their responsibility towards the damage to our ship was met with heavy rebuttal from corporate lawyers.  It is going to be a fight to recover expenses in repairs, but fight we will."

She sighs, then recovers her stoic expression, glancing at Dawn Hunter who is still wearing her boarding vacc-suit. She turns to the others around the table.

"Okay.  We will have an additional passenger on this trip.  One doctor Zbigniew Soboleskii who is heading up the investigation into the Mr. Balakov's unfortunate death. He will be our acting medical officer while onboard. I have confirmation of Mr. Balakov's remains being held on ice on highport station until we, or his family makes arrangements."

"The investigative team was not happy to have learned the old server had been taken, but there really is nothing they could do about that.  If they want access, they will have to petition Adm. Amundson's office or the department of military legal affairs."

Karma glances at her wrist.

"It is oh three forty two hours.  We will embark at oh four thirty hours.  Are all repairs for transit made?"

"All cargo is stowed and secured. Communications module has been replaced, tested, and is functioning properly Karma." Harry tells her, being more familiar with her now that he is 'in' with the team.

A mechanical sounding Dawn Hunter's voice resonates from the vacc-suit helmet.  "You should refer to her as Captain, chief petty officer McStubbins.  Respect the position."

Harry ignores Dawn. They would be stuck in space together for years, he had plenty of respect for Karma already! She was top dog and was A1 at her job.

Karma raises a hand, staving off any criticism from Harry, not that there was likely to be any.

"It is okay for now.  We have all had a long day and still have a couple of hours to go." she says.  "Lights will be dimmed for inactive cycle at oh six thirty.  Get the rack time you all need.  Myself and Ms Hunter will be taking off duty shift."

"If there is nothing else-- Tanja set a course if you have not already and ready for flight.  Power up the gravitic arrays and do a systems check on them again.  I trust you can get us out of here.  Ms Hunter and myself will get a couple hours of rack time.  If you need me, you know where I live."

Crossing her arms, she awaits any questions.

"Aye, aye Captain" Harry responds.

"Grav plates are replaced, powered and re-aligned. Damaged controller has been replaced and all tested." Levi begins, but sees the look on Karma's face.

"But I'll have the team run another set of diagnostics and tests to make sure.

Internal floors and walls are... In the process of being refitted and restored but the temporary fittings are secure and holding. That will be a task in process for the trip but it's aesthetics rather than functional modifications we'll be doing.

So engineering is good to go once our computer suite has been given the green light."

"Aye firmative, cap. Set course, lift off and wake you if there's an issue." Her tone is tongue in cheek but came with a look of exhaustive determination and understanding. Despite trying for half an hour of rest she'd found she couldn't get any, but the time alone had allowed her to compartmentalise the situation and focus on what needed to be done.

"I'd put the flight plan into the system, but we've now swapped servers. I'll start from scratch and replot again while we're powering up. Let's just get this done."

She poured herself some coffee, not asking if anyone wanted any, then walked without further conversation to the bridge where she hoped it would be just her, the black and her thoughts.
