Barely succeeded... with a MoS +14.  Not enough to snap hinges, but should be enough to force the door open a good deal.

The elder sister rushes into the room where Masugatan dropped his torch on the bedding.

"Fire?  Where?"

The younger sister points to the bed, still uncertain whether she managed to fully extinguish the bedding.

"Dropped torch, Holiness."

“That’s the hottest thing I’ve laid on a bed in some time, I’m sad to report.”

The younger sister whispers to Masugatan.  "Better not let Valerie hear that -- or am I mistaken?"

The elder sister grabs the torch by the handle and tosses it toward Masugatan, and begins patting down the scorched and wet bedding.

"I heard of a bed once that got a spark from the fireplace on it, and then burned the house down two days later."

Practically burying her face in the mess, she sniffs at the bed.

"I know how to be sure."  She speaks a couple words and gestures carefully.  "That should take care of that."

As the burning bed is extinguished,  and Valerie stays by the cart and Christine enters the structure,
the door opens with a screech...and something damp and primordial oozes its way out!

Jednesa takes a half step back, picks up her handaxe from where she leaned it, and goes to take another step back and finds herself out of room...

Oh, that is right...the fire we had, the torch, some idiot felt compelled to use to try to burn the [place down instead of using it for light like a normal person...perhaps that same idiot can deal with the slime coming from the door then, while Christine goes to investigate the book she was called for.

Unless the slime will trap everyone in that room where the book is...

Having completed putting out the fire, the elder sister turns and looks where the younger is pointing.

"That's not natural!  McReady, er, Alchemist Mcready, do you have any acid handy?"

Elaina suddenly starts looking around the room, without moving yet.

OOC:  Just to point out, Jednesa is (as I understand it) downstairs (the railed stairs lead down to a landing) where she has opened the buckled iron door.  It's likely the only person trapped in a 'room' with the multicolored blob, is Jednesa, because she is not fast moving up tiny stairs.

Or, more than likely, it's trapped down there with her, and any incoming fireballs, sunbolts, vials of alchemist fire, etc...

Elaina slips a finger through the loop on her sling and pulls it from her belt.  She drops the tent pole with the glow on the end and holds out her left hand.

"Give it to me, I'll get it there."

Masugatan backs away from the primordial ooze, not daring to test steel against it.  “Some alchemy would be nice right about now.”

She goes to look at the book, using her staff to drag it out from under the bed before touching it.

Evelina accepts the vial, loads it into the pouch of her sling, then rocks it for a heartbeat as she aims before spinning it through a single loop and releasing.

Jednesa attempts to rear back and swing down on the blob before her, but in the confined space doesn't have the room, so with a grunt she gives the blob a poke with her handaxe...

the jelly recoils from the hit, and is struck a moment later with a small glass vial, which fizzes, even as it sits halfway into the bubbling mass of the thing.. .
throwing a breakable object onto a squishy targeydoes not necessarily cause it to brak.
