The English Civil War is over and the usurper, Cromwell, rots in his grave. His Majesty King Charles II is restored to the throne of England and seeks good men and true to return this sceptered isle to its former glory.
However, these are still dangerous times. Political rivalries bubble beneath the surface and factions for and against the Crown wield daggers in the dark. Bubonic plague stalks the streets of London, witchfinders and highwaymen prowl the countryside and there are fortunes to be made and lost for men of swashbuckling action and firm resolve.
For the most adventurous of all, there is a world to be explored, a world of fledgling colonies and billowing sails as the European powers compete for control of the seas. Pirates roam the Caribbean, settlers hack out a frontier in the forests of America, and men grow rich on the backs of slaves transported from darkest Africa.

While men strut the stage of life, an equal number of women scheme, discuss and love behind the scenes. Deprived of legal equality, they use their wit and charm to make their own way in a manís world, perhaps carving out power and wealth by skillful proxy.
Romance and fortune may be just around the corner. Ladies of high birth and low may find themselves in the company of a dashing cavalier, sweeping off his feathered hat and bowing deeply to the girl who catches his eye.
Damsels in distress seek a kind heart and a swift blade to rescue them, while fiery, confident heroines rail against the inequalities of the age, brazenly choosing which of their many suitors they will grace with their favours.
There may be female Pimpernels, ladies of breeding who don a disguise to fight the injustices of the world with a skill as sharp as any man, and debutantes abound, partying with friends, visiting the timbered shops of Londonís rambling streets, looking for the right dress and shoes for the next social event, eager to be seen in the right company and at the right parties to further their chances of a loverís kiss.

This game uses the En Garde! rules as a framework, with much homebrew embellishment drawing heavily from the Flashing Blades RPG, Traveller RPG and a goodly amount of freestyle-ish roleplay on top.
