Vin Dalto comes from the adopted homeworld of her species, born into a comfortable, if not particularly glamorous lifestyle. An only child, she often felt though she was missing a friend or a partner in her youthful adventures. Although all members of the Miraluka species have some degree of force sensitivity, Vin displayed a stronger sensitivity early in life. She had heard of, but had never met a Jedi before the day she was looked over by the Jedi Knight J’ho Mioon, a member of the Kel Dor Species. He saw great potential in her, and with their permission, and a sorrowful farewell, Vin left her home and her family, never to be seen again.
The two shared solidarity for each others plight; both of their natural environments made them have to wear some kind of adornment, making them stand out. J’ho naturally stood out more, and his rebreather was essential for life whereas the scarf tied over Vin’s vestigial eyes was mostly for social acceptance, but there was enough in common to establish an early trust and rapport between Student and Teacher. This was integral, as the two turned out to be very different people. J’ho was an academic, especially when it came to the ancient histories of the Jedi Order, and was fairly quiet and contemplative. Vin on the other hand, was a more physically active person, wanting to learn by doing rather than learning about some centuries old corpse. Her favorite thing, to the chagrin of her teacher, was to lose herself in a new world and watch the world around her. Over time, what they both discovered was that both carried the same auto-didactic spirit of constant self-improvement, just applied in different ways.

As Vin’s understanding of the Force matured, she began to see whims of where her place was and what the Force sought out of her, which was first and foremost for her to be able to protect and defend those who cannot do so themselves. She took to the lightsaber training well, and with some dedication was able to learn the manipulation of the Force into concrete powers. With the help J’hos knowledge of the Jedi Archives, Vin was able to find and learn the ancient technique of the Battle Meditation.

Capable and headstrong, eager to prove herself, Vin has now been sent on her own mission, with the promise of consistent communication with her master. While she is away, J’ho searches for more to train his student, knowing it won’t be long before there is little more she can learn from him….
