Charles Gordon, 1st Earl of Aboyne, at 23 is the oldest member of his immediate family thanks to the effects of the Civil War. He is betrothed to Margaret Irvine but having no children of his own, he acts as guardian for his 12 year old nephew, George, 4th Marquis of Huntly.
