Sir George Hamilton, Baronet Donalong of Nenagh, is the brother of Lady Jean O'Neill's first husband, Claud Hamilton, Baron of Strabane. Lady Jean's son, the current Baron Strabane, is named after him.

Sir George fought on the 'right' side during the Irish Wars, and followed Prince Charles into exile after the war. As such, he recovered his estates, and his silver mines, near Nenagh. He was made Baronet Donalong and married the sister of Ormonde, Lord Lieutenant of Ireland.

George has always disapproved of Lady Jean's adventurous temperament, her second marriage, her second husband, their part in the Irish Wars, and most other things he knows about her.

However, he has a strong sense of familial duty, and, as a Catholic, still regards Jean as family. She is the wife of his deceased brother and the mother of his nephew.
