Having a player with 2 characters

I am having a problem. I have a player who wants to play 2 characters. I am having a problem of setting it up.

In the GM Menu, click on Edit Characters, then the "Add (Existing)" button. Pick the player in the drop-down on the top right, then fill out the other details.

The player will have the original character as their default (you can change this); to post as the other character, they'll have to use the "Name" drop-down above the Subject line.

The Player can also set it to 'No Default", which is what I recommend, less chance of making errors that way.

In a similar vein, I have two characters in a game, but they are in different parties. The vast majority of the time, I am only allowed to post as or the other, but I am still required to open the drop box and the one option offered. Is there any way to avoid this?

if  i am not understanding it....

 GM  Menu, " Edit  characters"

"add existing"

the graph will come up to  add in the charcters  name. then the drop down box  that says 'select player"

i have a few folks  who have  2 characters. ( I capped it after  a few years to 2..3 is way too many)... they can interact freely as long as  they don't abuse information   and they do not  'gang up' on a player... i haven't had that problem since biuncing a plyer  a few years ago.

I don't think I explained myself very well.

I already have two players in a particular game.

They are in separate groups, each character can only post in the group they belong to.

When I go to post, a drop down box pops up where I have to pick which character to post as, but in every case, I only have one option, the character who is part of that group.

Is there a way to make it so I only get the drop down when there is an actual choice to be made?

to be honest? I don't know? if only certainpeople can post in that thread. For example. I had a character long  ago who had  a private thread  because of her balck ops ect...

i just checked now ( player has been gone for years).. it only shows  my Main NPC  and that character's name, no one else  can get in that thread, because it was set up  for that player.

now?  you can ( as GM)  type in a Character's  'other name' box. if you use the exact name of the other charcter, thier icon comes up...i did it by accident  for  charcters that only have one  name.. so i have to shorten it so thier Icon doesn't come up,

Okay, fair enough. Just irritating to take the extra step to choose the only option possible, but it is no big deal.

I don't think there's any way to entirely do away with the drop-down, Piestar, but maybe you could reduce having to deal with it? If one of the characters is the player's primary character, and the default to primary character option is checked on, it should (I'm guessing here, because I can't go test it myself) eliminate the drop-down showing up at least in the group that the primary character shows up in?

I think, at least.

If it's your character, you can do that yourself. Look in the Game Preferences option and check on the option to default post as the primary character. =)
