In view of the first of October, that is the Dave Arneson Day, I'm thinking about staging a small competition between the players to write a post/essay on a theme linked to Dave Arneson and Blackmoor and then reward it with Experience Points for their character(s): 100 XPs for the winner, 50 XPs for the runner up and 25 XPs for the third. How does it sound?
I'll think about it tomorrow during the day and then I'll write down my thoughts here, to get your feedback.

Initially I was thinking about some simple, broad theme, such as: "What is Dave Arneson's legacy for contemporary role-players?" or "Which aspects of Dave Arneson's way of roleplaying have been maintained today and which need to be rediscovered?" but your question about the themes made me think... What are your thoughts about it? What do you think may be a suitable theme for the Dave Arneson Day?

Just to add that anybody that gives good answer but we have more than 3 player put in should get 5 xp just for the time and effort.

To what extent does Dave Arneson use the concept of light and dark within his world of Blackmoor?? And how influential are these concepts on the players, their characters and how they view the game world??

This might be tough for me, because I don’t really consider myself a contemporary gamer.  I’m an old school kind of guy and I know little about today’s scene, except for playing here and on Roll20.
