linking to a specific RPol forum message?

hi all, I am new to this site, but not to Play By Post. Usually I like to keep a private index of crucial steps of any campaign I'm in, by linking to the relevant part of a story. This makes it easier to navigate and search for a message, refresh important points of a story, etc. (Especially when the threads become really long).

Is there a way of copying a link to a specific message in RPol?

I managed to get something like: https://r.rpol.net/display.cgi?gi=76370&ti=2&date=1620910089&msg=1
but, even changing the msg= variable to the desired thread message, it always jumps to the last message when clicked.
I'm sure I am missing something obvious here! Thanks in advance.

You need to add &show=all in order to reliably show the messages which are not on the last page.

linking to a specific RPol forum message?

Hello all

There are 'all' or 'top' or 'bottom' in every thread that is one is looking at without changing the address in the tool bar?  It is all there easy to use as part of the threads.  Am I missing something and if it is linking to a post in a thread there is 'quote' which carries that post to the one you are making and you can edit that post by making it shorter if you only need a bit of it.  :)

Thanks all. The best format to create reliable links to a specific message that I found, after your collective feedback, is by editing the link by hand:
1. remove anything after the "ti=2"
2. append "#msgXY" at the end (where XY is the number of the desired message).

For example:
https://r.rpol.net/display.cgi?gi=76370&ti=2#msg15

Hmm, Dr_B you say?

If you’re the Dr. B I think you might be ... WELCOME ABOARD!!

And if, by chance, you are a simply a similarly named Dr with whom I am not yet acquainted ... then you are most welcome as well (but I take back my caps lock and exclamation points).

hi Ski-Bird - I might not be the dr_B you think :).
Unless you know me from another platform? (I play by post on Gamersplane, mRpg, a little on Discord, using the same nickname)

That will stop working once the thread gets long enough that msg15 is no longer on the last page.  This will always work:

https://r.rpol.net/display.cgi?gi=76370&ti=2&show=all#msg15

Note, I've discovered that you need to strip the date function from the url or you get weird results.  Frex the thread is:
//r.rpol.net/display.cgi?gi=7&ti=5276&date=1622739934&show=all#1

But if you leave that highlighted section in, it will sometimes skip past post #1 and go to the newest messages.
