Question about GM request

I know it's not allowed to discuss specifics when responding around interest for a game, or a request for GM or players, but is it feasible to ask for a GM if I want to play a specific canon character, i.e. "Looking for a WEG 2nd Ed. Revised Star Wars game where I can play Cad Bane," or am I better off with a more general "GM Wanted for Canon Bronze-Age Legion of Super Heroes" kind of post?

Question about GM request

other folks will weigh in for sure? But regardless of the game, Most GMs  have  NPC  set in place, and PCs  do thier own part.

using a 'named  character' would be entirely up to the  GM/DM.

when you RTJ, or  even merely ask in a PM  about  a certain Game?... Ask the  GM/DM  this question. you'll find out  right then and there , if they will permit the use of  a  named  character .

There is no harm  in asking, the GM  should be  able to answer you , with you not takign slight  either?

Question about GM request

Ask for your preferred system in GMs Wanted with a "I'd like to play a specific character" somewhere in the ad, then rMail any GMs that bite so that those negociations are off-forum.

If you get someone willing to fulfil your request, come back to the ad and say so then ask the mods to close it.

Question about GM request

In reply to Rogue Leader (msg # 1):

In Game Proposals, Input and Advice, character selection/creation/discussion is entirely prohibited.

However, in W-GMs there is a little more flexibility.  After all, if you're looking for a GM who will let you play a particular canon character, or some crazy overpowered third party character build, you need to be able to specify what you want the GM to accept.

Even there, though, the discussion of the actual character should be kept as brief as possible.
