How do I create a Discussion Forum?

I know this is possible, but RPoL's help asks me to tick a "Forum" checkbox while creating a game that does not actually exist. Attempts to search for my answer met in failure.

You create it as an ordinary game, and run it for a while.  If it survives, does not duplicate an existing forum, and is relevant to this site, then you can ask for it to be converted to an actual forum.

I see. As I had intended the discussion to be a short workshop discussion prior to the creation of a game this does not suit my needs. I suppose I will have to create a game to discuss the creation of a game.

I think you misunderstood the purpose of the Discussion forums - they are intended to be open to anybody who wants to join in, and be long lasting (kind of like the Community Chat forum).  If you're just looking to hammer out the details of a game with the potential participants, then a private board is the way to go.

Then, once you're happy with the way the game concept is shaping up, you can archive the discussion threads for future reference, change the title of the board, and use it for playing the game.
