Requiem: Rome, Prohibition Era, or '80s?
Thinking about what would make for an interesting Vampire: the Requiem game (maybe with a little Mummy or other lines thrown in), and a few great ideas come to mind. Which are worth fleshing out?
Rome
Requiem for Rome would be fun to play around with. As far as historical settings go, it's far enough back to seem fantastical, and yet the setting is kind of an awesome mix for urban fantasy. Intrigue in the Necropolis, dark powers emerging from legend, and the wolves howling in the wilderness?
New Wave Requiem
'80s gusto and vampire life. What's not to love? I'm thinking some kind of regime change here, where a Prince is dealing with an influx of Strix as well as a changing climate among the Kindred, burgeoning into a full-blown vampiric civil war.
Prohibition Era
What's an awesome addition to speakeasies, stylish mobsters, femme fatales, and antihero detectives in over their heads? Vampires and other urban fantasy types. Mysteries, I think, and a time of upheaval and struggle in both the mortal and supernatural worlds. What's the deal with that mysterious new artifact the local museum has on display? What's this new occult threat in the shadows of the underworld?
I suppose there are some interesting runners-up! I think the Neolithic setting presented in one of the books could be fun, but for Vampire, probably one of these would be good. Maybe the Victorian era, but I'm a lot less familiar with what was going on across the pond then. I suppose we could fake it well enough?
