IC: The Spy Game

I'm looking to run "The Spy Game" set in either the 60s or 80s but I might be persuaded to do contemporary.  I'm imagining it would be akin to the old Mission Impossible series with a team or operatives rather than a solo Bond/Bourne game...given that it's 5e-based I suppose that makes sense.

Any interest?

Always interested. It's my second favorite genre after SciFi.

If set in the 60s, it'd be more like The Man From U.N.C.L.E. or Get Smart or even early Bond.

If set in the 80s, I suppose it be more like Mission: Impossible movies or even Charlie's Angels.

In either case, it can get tricky trying to remember what didn't exist then that does now, like no cell phones!

I was thinking of the 60s show Mission Impossible rather than the Tom Cruise movies but I do love The Man from UNCLE.

Tech eras shouldn't be too bad though I suppose that somewhat depends on how realistic it's played.

Glad there's at least one person interested!

Re: IC: The Spy Game

I don't have the game, either. Didn't even know it WAS a game, but went and looked it up online. There's a free quick start version available for download.

The only problem I can see is having set roles, which is what Mission: Impossible had, as well as A-Team and Leverage. It means someone has to play the Cleric Muscle (or whatever).

I'm still interested, of course, but I'd suggest you be prepared for everyone to want to play the same role as well as having enough players want to join that could fill out two teams (missions could then be linked between the two). I'd definitely drawn the line at more than 10-12 players (and there's always going to be dropouts).

I'm willing to help build characters for anyone who doesn't have and can't acquire the book.

I'm going to have to draw the line at 4 or 5 players.  I think for a first game here I'd need to start with a number I'm most familiar with.

Players having 2/3 characters from which they can choose for a mission is something I might like to do.  Sort of like in M:I when Briggs/Phelps picks the agents but rather than always picking the same people there is some actual variation. :)

I would definitely be interested in playing this as well. I actually have the book and would definitely love to be in a Spy Thriller game!
