Star Frontiers or Knight Hawks anyone?

Just wondering if there is any interest in the playing community to run or play a Classic Star Frontiers game using original Alpha Dawn rules?

Or if there is anyone who would like to play the Second Sathar War campaign from the Knight Hawks rule book?

I've still got both of those sitting around.   I'd love to get some use out of them, even as a player.

I'm interested in Alpha Dawn, less so in Knight Hawks (at least the spaceship combat aspects of it). I prefer to run the rules are written, and not use Zebulon's Guide, Dragon material or third party material. I'd dig an adventure where we were based in a city on a largely unexplored planet and had to deal with in-town issue and exploration in the wild, to make use of the full range of skills.

I am always interested in a space game, particularly one in which the space ships can be a part of the story rather than just a fancy version of the 'tavern scene' that transitions you from one adventure to another.

Interested as well.

I liked Zebulon's Guide (mostly), particularly the races.

I suppose a decent concept would help the game along, like everyone is exploring the Frontier Sector... or being sent to a planet to 'prove' it is suitable for colonization.

That should make use of everyone's skills.

Maybe, if everyone avoided picking skills that would be useless for long stretches of the game, like Environmental skill aboard a ship, or Computer skill on an uncharted planet.

Re: Star Frontiers or Knight Hawks anyone?

As we only get two skills to start with, we should probably have a pre-game conference to figure out who's doing what.   I don't mind if we do the entire Volturnus adventure arc (as I've never completed it myself) personally,

I had the same problem... I had the Star Frontiers box...somewhere... just had to find it again to remind me of the game rules.

And, yeah, it's always a toss up between players picking skills that are 'useful' and the GM making adventures that make use of the skills the player has. I don't know which is harder.

The GM and players could always try collaborating. I know people love surprises but "You are going to benefit the party considerably less than everyone else" is a rather nasty one.

In reply to StarMaster (msg # 11):

Starfrontiers.com has some stuff you can download for free (I think the original system is old enough to fall into public domain) and other stuff you can download for a small fee.   Plus lots of good add-ons.

While the material was once legally available for free, that is not longer the case. It is not in the public domain.

Then I'd assume that you'd have to pay to download the copyrighted stuff.   Though there's still plenty of good free stuff there.

Re: Star Frontiers or Knight Hawks anyone?

I figured classic Star Frontiers you would need to have interest from at least 4 players so you could have at least one of each of the 4 original races :)

Re: Star Frontiers or Knight Hawks anyone?

Well there was enough interest in Star Frontiers to get a game up and running but I was hoping there might be more interest in a Knight Hawks game.

Nobody?

I guess I'm not clear what that would entail. I think of Knight Hawks as a space battle on a grid, not really a game involving a party of heroes or anything.

Re: Star Frontiers or Knight Hawks anyone?

Knight Hawks is both, I was looking for interest in the Second Sathar War campaign which is all battles between space ships, no character interaction as such.  Aah well, it is what it is.
