Interest Check: Tunnels and Trolls

Any interest in a Tunnels and Trolls game? My preference is toward the 5th edition rules, but I'd be happy to use the more recent Deluxe T&T as well. I'd like to run a sandbox-style game with a starting adventure to bring the group together. A party with 3-5 players would be ideal.

I would be interested.  5th edition (or maybe 5.5) is my preferred edition, so that's very much in my wheelhouse - about the only real quibble I have with it is that there's no real mechanical incentive to play a human, instead of an elf, dwarf, halfling, etc.

I agree with that. Deluxe T&T introduced some optional human advantages like the ability to re-roll failed Saving Rolls or starting with a special item. I also have my own house rules we could use. One has humans starting with more gold and, therefore, better equipment. The other alters the kindred modifiers so that they are more balanced (they end up with some very low attributes to make up for their really high ones).

I am interested. I'm still fairly new to d&d but I know the fundamentals of it. Don't really have any preference seeing that I have only used 5e but I am down to use whatever as long as I can get an explanation of the difference.

In reply to believingghost (msg # 4):

T&T is a different game from D&D. T&T is, in my opinion, much better, as there is very little "Can't" compared to the obnoxious amount of it in 5e D&D

Intriguing. Well, you definitely have my interest with it even though I've never heard of it.

Yes, T&T is generally a pretty flexible game. There are only really three character types (Warrior, Wizard, and Rogue) and what each can do is largely based on their attributes and the player's character concept (apart from magic use at least).

Flying Buffalo has a free, bare-bones PDF version of their rules on DriveThru RPG. The PDF of the 5th edition rules is pretty inexpensive.

I'm feeling pretty motivated about setting up this game, so I'll get it launched soon. Keep an eye out in the Player's Wanted forum.

Colour me interested; I've got a small format paperback rulebook which I think is 5th edition (Corgi UK 1986 printing), but I'm happy to use the free PDF of a later edition if thats what others want.
