Bazil Broketail

Anyone familiar with the book series? I've gone through an made an 'encyclopedia' based on the world of dragons(wvyerns), the magic in the world, the monsters and enemies of the world and the several 'quests' of the series.

that being said, is there interest in playing a D&D 5th (ts what i wrote it out to conversion as) edition of the Bazil Broketail universe? Magics would be limited to what has only appeared in the books, you would be conscripted into the Legions as a part of a dragon unit most likely.

Yes, I would be very interested in that.

Sometimes I think I'm the only one who read those great books and I'm glad to find out it's not true.

Cory is a great DM too Ex! I've been playing in his 3.5 games for years! Am I allowed to say this here?

there will need to be some tweaking and some talk about it, but for the most part, and i have more details on what that means if you are of certain "classes" i.e. battledragons, dragon boys etc...

When I have run in this setting the Dragons were Fighters (with one notable Slateback Barbarian) and Dragonboys were Rogues.

My idea had the dragon types as specific classes, with obvious +/- as racial bonuses too
Battledragons
Dragonborn (which type is limited)
Hard greens - Barbarians (Path of Ancestral Guardian or Path of Zealot)
Leather backs – Fighter (Champion)
Brass Hides (Crullos)–Fighter (great Weapon, battle master)
Freemartins – Ranger Hunter
Gristle – Barbarian battlerager (Kuldjargh)

Wild Dragons Barbarian - (Path of the Berserkser)

Dragon Boys – Rogues, rangers

This thread makes me want to start reading the series! Would you allow an interested player with no knowledge of the setting yet, but a copy of the 1st book in the series on the way?

My thought is that the Legions wouldn't have a use for battle dragons that rage since they're already pretty wary of them getting out of control.

How are you planning to handle Tail Weapons?

Re: Bazil Broketail

rage is just a term, but it is fitting as they do have a bit of blood lust. re-terming rage to something like battle-lust or something

Dragons do have their breaking point though, there will have to be a fatigue/exhausting like progression for food

Tail weapons, I see as normal damage as they aren't larger than normal.
Other than class bonuses or what not for Two Weapon Fighting, tail weapon attacks unless it is the primary attack, would follow two weapon fighting rules,
quote:
When you take the Attack action and attack with a light melee weapon that you’re holding in one hand, you can use a bonus action to attack with a different light melee weapon that you’re holding in the other hand. You don’t add your ability modifier to the damage of the bonus attack, unless that modifier is negative. If either weapon has the thrown property, you can throw the weapon, instead of making a melee attack with it.

Re: Bazil Broketail

Two weapons (one in hand one in tail) and a shield is very common and one two-handed weapon and a tail weapon is seen but I can't recall a Battledragon ever wielding three weapons at the same time.
