Battlestar Galactica

I have this idea of a BSG game that I would love to run but have some problems:

- I'm not really sure which system to use. My first thought was Robotech rules from Palladium Books. And while I'm familiar with that system it have some drawbacks, anyone else have ideas for a better system?

- My idea is a AU version where the players join a ragteam of Colonial ships, that take the fight to the Cyclon. The idea is that the players will influence the actions to take (somewhat similar to Deadlock I see now). Thoughts about that?

Battlestar Galactica

Based on the original or based on the reboot?

Battlestar Galactica

Just about any system is probably better than the one from Palladium Books, they make good settings but not system.

Savage Worlds Sci Fi, even D&D 5e has a perfectly reasonable sci fi conversion.

If you want to go heavy ship combat you could even skip the 'character' system entirely and just use something dedicated to that like Battlespace (some math may be required).  Or a dual system game where you have crew stats, and ship stats, and the two have little to do with each other except that they are under the control of the same player.

Battlestar Galactica

Margaret Weis Productions did a Cortex System-based BSG game set in the reboot universe.  You might give it a look.

The '03 version.

Never heard of that game. Is it any good?

A homebrew you mean? That could work.

Well, frack!  PDFs are no longer generally available.  What I have seen of it is not the PDF I have, but either paperback or hardcover.

I've never had time or a group willing to play it.

Personally, I find Cortex and Cortex Plus to be a bit overticked mechanically, but the Corebook and other PDFs I have (13 in all) in this game setting are well done, well-researched, and provide a great deal of source material in addition to the *ahem* complex game mechanic.

Sorry.

Glad I could be of some small service, then.  Good Hunting!
