IC- D&D 3.5 gestalt Arcane Congress game
I know I've posted already asking advice on running a magic academy game.
I wanted to just throw this out there and see how many people would actually be interested.
My idea would be with players at 2nd level, and one side of their gestalt mix would be required to be an arcane caster, Wizard, sorcerer, or artificer. Possibly including things like Wu Jen, but I'd need to look them all over again to decide exactly what fits and what doesn't.
The story concept would be the players are a new group of magic users brought tot he congress to assist with the grand plan of using magic to help restore Khorvaire. Players would be effectively grad students. They already know how to use magic, but are learning the higher arts from master.
The game would explore both the politics and the magical mysteries of the Eberron setting. I am thinking players will get to choose between classes to study in and masters to study under. They will also face challenges, both tests set up by the Congress, and 'missions' so to speak, of them going to find information or help others. This will allow for a mix of classic dungeon style combat and interpersonal roleplaying. Both aspects would be important.
does that appeal to anyone? I chose 3.5 gestalt because it allows for a wide variety of player options and capabilities, and I know the system far better than things like 5e.
