The people of Carcossia are surrounded by monsters. Almost without exception, anything that is not human, dwarf, elf, gnome, or halfling; whether it’s a rat or an angel, is a potential enemy. Humanity’s age-old enemies grow ever more dangerous. The specific horrors that the people of Carcossia fear most are all reflections of humanity’s darker nature. Werewolves are a living embodiment of the secret rage and violence that hide in the their heart. Vampires are the bodily manifestation of carnal desire, hedonistic cravings, and bloodlust. Zombies and geists—the restless spirits of the dead—paint the eventual future of all people in the starkest terms, underlining the grim truths of mortality. Demons are the unholy inversion of humanity’s spiritual longings—the shadow side of the angels’ brightness. Still, the most dreadful creatures of Carcossia lurk within towns and cities, pursuing their twisted schemes and unholy desires in the heart of civilization. These are the individuals that have been consumed by the darkness. Sinister cultists give themselves over to demons and other dark forces. Depraved necromancers raise the dead to do their bidding. Obsessive scholars pry into secrets best left hidden. Crazed scientists toy with forces of life and death in their effort to create artificial life or harness the energy that remains in the spirits of the dead. And even among the common folk some simply give in to selfish desires and violent rage, killing with knife and garrote rather than sorcery.
Carcossia is a dark, noir-fantasy world heavily inspired by such sources as: Game of Thrones, Bram Stoker's Dracula, the works of HP Lovecraft and other Mythos authors, Castlevania, The Witcher (games) by CD Projekt Red, and the Innistrad setting from Magic the Gathering.
Madrigal of Gloom is a low-level (capping at 10th), mature rated game set in this world, where you and the other players will take up arms to fight back the darkness and maybe make a little coin along the way--Why not, after all?.
I am looking for between 4 and 6 (preferably) experienced players who are interested in telling a good story as much, if not maybe just a little more, than they are combat and loot.
This will not be on a first come, first served basis. Applications will be open until the first of May 21st 2021, at which point I will make the decision of who will play. Anyone who applies but does not make the initial cut will be offered status as a Lurker so that they can follow along if they choose. Replacement players will be drawn from the pool of Lurkers before being recruited from the whole of Rpol.
Do you have what it takes? Come join
