Re: Tales of Two - Freeform Storytelling (adult)
What is Tales of Two?
This game is designed to be a collection of round-robin stories written by two people. It is an oft-repeated theme, and one that has been met with varying degrees of success, on RPOL as well as other roleplaying sites. The nature of interaction between two characters will drive the story. Allies, lovers, rivals, enemies, strangers, whatever works for your tale.
In essence, you think of a story and find a partner, or notice a story you like & apply to join, and then you both write the story between you with alternating posts.
Literally anything is possible, there is no one "genre" for the community as a whole. Settings so far have included the well-known ones of fantasy, sci-fi, cyberpunk, crime, erotica and romance, as well as more obscure premises such as 1960's "man's adventure" stories, 80's ninja movies, wuxia or planetary romance. Threads set in an existing universe are also possible--Warhammer 40,00, Star Wars, Doctor Who, Pokemon, Anita Blake and The Dresden Files have all been used as the basis for original tales. The majority of characters so far have been original creations, but you could also take on existing characters and tell a new story with them.
It's worth noting that though this is an Adult-rated game, sexual or romantic plots are entirely optional. The tag is mainly so that if the story to starts to progress into adult territory, you don't have to censor yourself. Equally, there is no problem with a story concept centred around an explicitly adult premise, so long as you stay within RPOL rules and your partner knows what to expect.
Joining is simple--just send an RTJ asking to be let in, and access will be granted, assuming no problems with adult access. Something important to note is that you don't need to have a story in mind when you apply. You don't even need to do any writing--it's fine to join and simply read the existing stories. Members will only be removed if they go multiple months without logging in, if they violate the terms of conduct or are disruptive or insulting to other writers.
