Priorities for tomorrow are:

  • Garflin, et al.
  • Mobley, et al.
  • Valan (regardless of whether Maldavos posts).

All other threads are waiting for other PCs' to respond.

Re: Finished for tonight

Sorry for going radio-silent without notice folks.  Work implemented some changes, and I have lost ability to access RPOL at work, which was my main avenue (before work or during breaks).  To make it worse, we’ve been having internet issues for some time at home (ergo why checking at work), thanks to both the provider end and our location.  Now, I admit I could still have been checking in with my phone, and it is for that I apologize to everyone held up by my absence.  I find it a pain, but I still should have checked in out of courtesy if nothing else.  Wife needing attention because personal issues + too much Santa Clausing (very rewarding, please don’t take me wrongly, but very exhausting schedule) + work issues for me, and checking all my games was just… too daunting to start.  Not an excuse, because it isn't, but an apology.

I am up around 5am local, because my wife has been up all night sick, so figured it was worth another shot at our internet.  Hoping this goes through.

I am very much going to miss finding the stories out, but it is not fair to everyone if I cannot commit the appropriate time.  If lurker status is a possibility DM, please do so, as I’d love to check on the stories when I have opportunity during holiday time; if not, I quite understand.  This is so hard to write, because this has been my gaming outlet, and I’ve finally found some great games to cheer along, but it’s that same respect that requires me to step aside and not ruin a great game when I cannot regularly post.

DM, I appreciate your hard work in breathing life to this story, and thank you especially.

My friends in gaming, thank you so much for the camaraderie, and I wish nothing but the best to everyone, and hope your holiday season is bright and wonderful.  I will talk with the DM to see if I can work out a reduced posting from me, but I'm anticipating withdrawing from all my games, and see if I can ease back from that to maintain any.  At the end of the day, I don't want to detract from any game I'm in.  Best to all.

Re: Finished for tonight

FYI to all --  Per a separate PM to Hamble's/Charan's player, in light of his real life obligations I am taking this as a withdrawal from the game.  If real life lets up in the near future and he is able to rejoin the game with regular participation soon, and Charan/Hamble are still viable PCs for their storylines, then he will be welcome back to run one or both of those PCs.  If it takes quite a bit longer and by the time he can neither of those PCs is a viable candidate for the storylines as they stand at that time, he will be welcome back with a new PC.

Meanwhile, he has lurker status, able to see all pubic posts (including this one) but unable to post a response.  If anyone would like to correspond with him directly -- and if he approves -- I can give you his rpol username so you can reach him via rMail.

Random rolls needed

By someone who is not Valan or Maldavos.  They're about to ride away from a wildfire set by NPC Finnella, a skalding.  The locals have been drawn by the smoke and are trying to contain the fire before it spreads any further in the grasslands.  I need rolls to determine (a) whether the wind shifts for the next three rounds and (b) whether the locals are willing to spare any of their forces to ride after Valan, et al., once they know there are strangers suspiciously close to the point of origin for the fire.  The results can be public, as they will be immediately obvious to the two PCs in the storyline.

The wind roll is weighted against a shift towards Valan, on the assumption that it doesn't necessarily change direction that rapidly.  The only result that matters:  85 - 100, and it shifts to follow in their direction.

The rider roll is weighted against them sending riders in Valan's/Maldavos's direction, as the locals' first priority would be to stop the fire and hunt down the malefactors later.  The only result that matters:  70 - 100 -- riders start following them immediately rather than waiting until later.

Even more random rolls -- anyone can make these.

Two d100.  Reasons explained in private line below, which some of you won't be able to see.

Don't kiss him too quickly.  Those rolls meant Euron and Tristan had a chance to see you casting a spell.  Only Euron made the perception check, though.

Re: Random rolls needed

Bah!

No, but if you have two Hero Points, I will make you the same offer I have made to other players:  Spend two to guarantee a success on a key thing like this.  (Valan did this when making sure he shook off suggestion so he could circle back and grab Finnella.  Someone else did, too, though at this moment I'm forgetting who and what it was.)

Finished for tonight

Priorities tomorrow are:

  • Tandro
  • Gabhran, et al.
  • Donato, et al.

Garflin, et al., may leap ahead once effects of Anansi's hexes/curse are resolved to determine how magically beaten-down Maas will be when he crawls out of the hole.

Re: Finished for tonight

Sorry guys for the long silence, I'm swamped at work and away from the computer most of the day.
It will get better next week, and I should be able to keep posting throughout the holiday season.

That counts for Josep and Dagobert as well.

It's honorable enough to miss a spell being subtly cast.

But I'm the only one who must bare the shame of missing the hummingbird.  (buries face in hands)
