RTJ and Important Game Links

The game is not open to new players.

Please see the Game Wiki for the following information:

  • Setting information  (including a glossary-in-progress created by one of the current players) is available on the Game Wiki from links off the front page.

  • What's needed for a Request to Join? (from new players, or a request to create a second (or third) PC for existing players).  That link gives three very basic questions that must be answered in your RTJ PM.   For new applicants, it is also helpful (though not mandatory) if you respond to this survey -- it just makes it easier for me to understand your expectations for a d20 play-by-post game so you and I can talk about any potential issues early on in the process.

Note:  I get a lot of "browsers" who never actually complete a character.  While going through the RTJ/chargen process, if one week passes during which a PM from me in the RTJ PM thread goes unanswered, I will assume you do not want to proceed.  I will delete your RTJ.  I will not send you reminders -- I don't chase players; it's up to you to keep up with the application/character generation process.

Another note:  Before applying, I strongly urge you to read through the links below about character generation, participation requirements, the GM's views of railroads vs. sandbox, and rules-lawyering/metagaming and the like -- I think they'll give you a good sense of my priorities/approaches as GM.  If anything in that rubs you the wrong way, you should probably not apply.

  • Which plot-lines are (and are not) currently open to new PCs? Note:  No plot-line is open to new players.  One plot-line may have room for new PCs by existing players.  Why just existing players?  It has a starting level for new PCs of 10th level and I am leery of taking a new player, with whom I have no familiarity, at such a high level.  Further, due to the intrigue-nature of the plot-line, it would be extremely difficult to incorporate a new player who doesn't already have at least a basic familiarity with the setting.

  • What are the guidelines for character creation? You should note this page also has (a) the requirement for making progress through character generation without going silent on me (one week of silence and I assume you don't intend to proceed -- and I will not ask or prompt or remind you) and (b) some information relevant to character advancement -- including a link to Prestige Classes, Feats, Spells and Other Stuff that is excluded from the game.

  • House Rules and Setting Fluff About Wizards, Clerics, Bards and Sorcerers.

  • Participation / Posting Frequency Requirements (read the entire thing, but the key is that after two weeks of no in-character posting, without warning or explanation, and you are out -- and I will not ask or prompt or remind you; also has info on various ways to contact me).

  • The GM's View of Railroads vs. Sandbox

  • Rules-Lawyering, Metagaming and Other Stuff.

  • How to Gain XP.

  • Summaries of the Stories to Date

  • NPC List

  • Contact info for the GM:  Contact me via PM or rMail, email me at bevinflannery@gmail.com or call or send a text message to my Google Voice number (you'll go straight to voicemail) at 267-570-3869.

Re: Old Threads Archived Off-Site on Dropbox

QUESTION:

If one were crazy enough to want to try to read all of the in-character threads to catch up on what has already happened in the game, what is the recommended reading order?

ANSWER:

You're insane.  But if you want to do that, use the list below.  It has been put together to account for PC cross-overs and to try to show how events in one thread led to developments in others.  Because of the number of cross-overs and intertwining of NPCs/events, there is a lot of back-and-forth.  Note that the links in Paragraphs 1 - 55 below take you to .pdf files on Dropbox -- I've archived old threads by saving them to .pdf, putting them on DropBox, and then deleting the threads from the game here on rpol.

1.  Tara's and Jochim's (PC retired by his last player) thread through Message No. 532.

2.  Veiled Tangles (player withdrawn) Part I through Message No. 360.

3.  Mobley's first thread through Message No. 288.

4.  the thread that compiles the posts for Richard (withdrawn) and Aladar (PC retired)

5.  Then Iminye's first thread through Message No. 174.

6.  Tara's and Jochim's thread, Message Nos. 537-604.

10a.  Interlude II, in which the League expresses its unhappiness with the Vind Hall's support of anti-League agitators.

11.  Tara's and Jochim's (and for much of it, Mobley's and Jonathan's) thread, Message Nos. 746-983.

12.  Mobley's first thread, Message Nos. 380 - 461.

13.  Iminye's first thread, Message Nos. 273-310.
