But name or no name, Han Solo is still cooler than Luke.

Ugh, if anyone should have been killed on a planet by a falling moon, it should have been Solo.

Duh.  :p

Verdicts on the cartoon Clone Wars?  My 7-year-old son just loved it.  He kept jumping up out of his seat, cackling, and otherwise cheering the good guys on.  He was enthralled the entire time.  I thought it was pretty good for a cartoon based on movies I don't even really like.  I'd see it again voluntarily probably, but I know I'll be sick to death of it just as soon as it comes out on DVD because my boy will be watching it constantly.

It'll be on Cartoon Network on Oct 3rd.  They're apparently gonna show the series.  I'm looking forward to it.  ^^

It's an all new series, 24 minute episodes. 40 confirmed episodes. 100 planned.

A cartoon series, too?  Wow.  SW really gets around.  I wish they'd do that with the far superior Spaceballs.

Sir do you think we're being too literal?   *giggles*

Re: Discussion - Star Wars, the Movies

Brooks' most recent success has been a transfer of his film The Producers to the Broadway stage. Brooks also had a vocal role in the 2005 animated film Robots. He is currently working on an animated series sequel to Spaceballs. Spaceballs: The TV Series is slated to premiere September 21, 2008 on G4 TV.

The Producers is funny.  But Spaceballs is and always will be the best, funniest, most awesome spoof ever and my favorite movie besides.

But Spaceballs isn't Star Wars, and thus shouldn't be discussed here, eh?

In reply to PC jmkool (msg #34):

I fail to see how a spoof based on Star Wars shouldn't be discussed in a Star Wars community. . .

Re: Discussion - Star Wars, the Movies

Spaceballs is pretty much the only reason I can tolerate the SW movies whatsoever.  I'd say that's pretty relevant.

Dang it!  I hate it when my schwartz gets twisted!

Re: Discussion - Star Wars, the Movies

OK kind of a dumb question but i was at a friends house watching episode 4 and during the Cantina scene i saw Greedo fire at solo first then he returned fire. Maybe i wasn't paying attention the first time i saw it but i don't remember that happening before. Am i right in saying that that didn't happen before, or am i jsut crazy?

Re: Discussion - Star Wars, the Movies

That was edited to make Solo more "good"

In the original version, Solo was a badass and shot first, but then Lucas decided that made Solo too mercenary so in all the edited/remake editions, they edited in a blaster shot from Greedo, so instead of Solo being a bad-ass antihero, he turns into a goody-two shoes who can dodge blaster bolts at point blank range.

Just pretend you did not see Greedo firing first and everything is right in the Star Wars universe :D

Re: Discussion - Star Wars, the Movies

I treasure my old VHS copy of Ep. 4 where Han shoots first.

The best thing that ever happened to star wars was George Lucas Pre 1984...  The worst thing that ever happened to Star Wars was George Lucas post 1990-ish.  The man just can’t stop tinkering with things!  LEAVE IT ALONE GEORGE!!!!!

Re: Discussion - Star Wars, the Movies

There's a Wikipedia article just on this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Han_shot_first
And a TV Tropes:
http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmw...Main/TheDogShotFirst

It seems that that change was only made to get the DVDs past the ratings people, who'd gotten shirty about the scene. See George Lucas in his "Han Shot First" t-shirt.

As my first post after taking over Mod duties here...

If any of you haven't seen A New Hope: Revisited, go find it online and watch it. Then maybe watch it again. It's well worth your time.

Re: Discussion - Star Wars, the Movies

I may be hopelessly out of date, but I've just recieved word that the guy who did A New Hope: Revisited expects to have Empire Strikes Back: Revisited out some time in 2010! Yay!

As a side note. In revisited, Han shoots first again. He fixed that and everything else that he made better was just gravy.

Han shoots first, you say?  Why, that is preposterous - a lovable scoundrel like him would never open fire unprovoked.  :p
