Re: New Thread

Happy B-day to you indeed!

GM Samurai Kato:
Now if anyone wants to run a game, I've been dying to use that as a character concept.  Just an ordinary guy who used to be an actor who used to play Jedi in holovids.  He has a Lightsaber and he knows how to use it as a basic weapon.  But he's not a real Jedi, although people mistake him for one.  He's not even Force Sensitive.

I've got a player running a similar concept in my game. He's a regular kid obsessed with being a jedi to the point where he runs around quoting the common jedi phrases ("do or do not, there is no try...") and wielding a regular sword and pretending like he's a jedi. He's trying to track the jedi down to get training but IIRC the kicker is that he has no force talent (i.e. will never take the feat).

Re: New Thread

I seem to recall a Darkside Force Power that stripped HP from the target and restored them to the Force User. Pretty much an involuntary transfer. Am I thinking of a different game system or have I just skimmed over it in my books?

*head scratching*

The one that I'm thinking of was a lot like that, but not exactly the same. If I remember it correctly you were only healing half the damage you did. Thanks for pointing it out though Peace. I could be imagining the one I'm thinking of...

Re: New Thread

There are a lot of members who have not logged in for years.

I am currently in the process of removing these stale members. Anyone who has not logged in in the last calendar year is getting taken out of the community. I don't think that is being harsh, in fact I doubt that any of the people being removed will even realize that I've done it.

If by some chance you find yourself removed by accident (I'm only human) please send a PM and you will be added again.

Re: New Thread

That's probably a bit harsh, considering that nothing new has come out for this game in 8 years, what is there really to discuss?  Maybe people should post if they are starting a new game but other than that I just use this as a resource if it has something interesting posted about a character concept I have.

Re: New Thread

Welcome! Two things. First, this is the old OOC, you may wanna hop into OOC 2 for more recent conversation, as this one's about to hit the post limit and probably should have been Closed.

Second, that post that might be a little harsh is from for years ago. :P

Re: New Thread

Around 900 posts, you start getting messages suggesting having the GM own a new thread and close this one. A new OOC thread got opened, but this one never closed.

And looking down at it, it doesn't actually mention closing this one. But you probably should. :P

Re: New Thread

*sigh* Force me to do it, huh?  Just because I'm the last GM why should that mean I have to do all the work?

No, but seriously, I never felt like I should have GM responsibility here.  I kind of got in late.  I never contributed anything to the group.  All I did was GM a bunch of Star Wars games... that never lasted.  PC_Peace out to be a GM here for as long as he has kept one game going.

Re: New Thread

I agree about Peace: he is running the longest SWSE game on this site, so we can't deny he's the most successful SWSE GM on site.
In general, I have the impression that this game/community could be streamlined and cleaned up a bit.

Re: New Thread

I appreciated the confidence but not sure if I have any new ideas or time to change things.
The new Living Force game which Yaztromo is setting up is the closest thing to a new community and I'll back that. The community here can work in concert with it.

Re: New Thread

It was. It was modelled on the Realms of Adventure D&D3.5 community (of which the founders were GMs) to be a community for organising SWSE games, where new GMs could pick up when old GMs left or PCs could relocate to other games. There were several SWSEC boards divided by era. But it never really took off with that concept and all the games quickly died. Only this main board has survived.

I was the first or second member, and played a bit of Dawn of Defiance when it was going.

Re: New Thread

Okay then.  For the past couple of days I have been thinking of a running a game where the story is kind of based on Samurai 7.  Except instead of bandits it's the Empire, and instead of samurai it's Rebels.  So I would start out the 7 heroes solo so they can begin on their own personal journeys of rebellion.  And just because it's a Community game, I'd be happy to take on anyone's characters they would like to revive as Rebels.  I take it then that means starting level would be 3rd or 4th?  I'm fine with that.
