I'm a sucker for puppy dogs and orphans apparently.

That's why I'm considering taking a stab at GMing this game. Some RL issues may make the launch a bit slow, but I'm looking for some indication of what kind of game everyone is looking for. There a hundred books out there with dozensof options.

Well, the I don't really have any major preferences. Just want to Run with some old friends. :)

But if pushed...I'm always a sucker for a a seemingly standard game...with a TWIST! If that makes any sense.

Like if this was D&D, we all start in a bar...except none of us remembers how we got there. And the staff says we've always been there. That kind of thing.

I am comfortable with many Shadowrun scenarios. From 'you are runners hired by Mr Johnson'. To 'you are members of a startup defending your patch from others' to 'corporate security'.

I am uncomfortable with 'wetwork' aka hired to kill someone. Much happier with 'extractions' and 'theft'.

Extractions and theft are just fine. Corporate espionage. We don't have to be assassins.  I'm with DJ, I think we all just would love to Run together, doing basic stuff from the ground up. SINless bastards that we all are xD

Runners for a Mr. Johnson, a mix of "meeting for the first time" and "have known each other for a while" type stuff sounds good. The usual bag of nonsense. Seamstress' Union in Seattle, some dive bar wherever. Wake up in a horrible cyber-labyrinth and have to prove our skills to leave... whatever, man.

I'm down.

How about the game opens up after we have completed our last Run, we all go to the same street Doc because we feel like drek afterward, and then we find out that one of the sample vials that got hit during our shooting retreat was filled with VITAS-3, and now we are all infected. With only six days in order to live, we only have a line on one potential prototype treatment, but there is only enough for three of us. And during the Run, we have to figure out which one of us gets the potential cure, and which of us don't.

Fun? Or sad?

OR!

How about there is an Awakened serial killer out there whose particular compulsion makes them target Shadowrunners, because he thinks they are a blight on society, and another arm of the corporate state. So the game is a cat-and-mouse mystery, where the Shadowrunner players are actually on the defensive for most of the game. Because usually we are heisting, wetworking, or hooding, which means we are usually the proactive ones. This would a different kind of flavor.

Fun? Or too scary?

Bleh. It's taking a lot more time, effort and energy to hammer out the game details and character sheet. Real Life has also been pounding me down more than I expected.
