Twilight 2013 GM Wanted

I recently returned to RPoL after an extended hiatus, and am excited to get some RPs going, especially using the Twilight 2013 ruleset, which I've fallen in love with a bit.

In reply to Lampright (msg # 1):

My experience with the Twilight 2013 rules is that the combat ticks system doesn't translate well to RPOL and as a result I've not seen a T2k13 game last for any length of time. Saying that though, I hope that someone can prove me wrong and I'd be interested in giving it a go again.

Only have the first & 2nd ed T-2000 rules. Game play crashed quite quickly in the few I watched or played in.

2013 is basically a whole new rule set.  It works off of a tiered-system that determines how many dice are rolled for an action (1-3 skill points, 4-7, 8-15, 16-31, etc., each adding another dice to the pool used to determine success).

Char-Gen Is different too, a bit.

And of course the background has been changed & updated for the fact that the game takes place in 2013.

Twilight 2013 GM Wanted

I have actually been running a T2K first edition game on RPoL, though it has run out of steam lately. I am participating in a T2k game that is well stocked with enthusiastic characters but moves breathtakingly slowly.

T2k13 uses a very in depth system that really doesn't translate well to RPoL simply because of the length of time required to do the simplest actions in a play by post game. This because the mechanics used to simulate combat create a complex system that is hard to always clearly translate into a play by post game. For such games to be successful a GM has to put in a lot of work.

If players just come and go like so many do in these games it can be rather aggravating to that GM.

Besides the rules set for Twilight 2013 is over complicated and really doesn't cater to fast and furious combats. If you thought the old rules set was slow or too crunchy T2013 is worse. But, having played Twilight 2000 since 1988 I feel the biggest problem with T2013 is that it really isn't Twilight anymore. Too contemporary, too contrived, and has nothing to offer in the sense of a real global effecting world war. It reminds me of Aftermath, just with a different set of overly complicated mechanics.
