Hi. I'm new.

Just wanted to say hi and see if you guys have any advice for a newcomer.
Looking forward to jumping into a game soon.

A few words about me as a player:
I'm a veteran D&D player. Got introduced into the game back in AD&D times but really consider myself a 3.5e guy. Later on I continued playing 3.5e because 4e was just so bad (in my opinion) but now I really enjoy 5e.
I liked Pathfinder but only if spliced with 3.5e classes and PRCs.
I also have extensive experience in oWoD (especially W:TA), SIFRP

Hi. I'm new.

In reply to Great Walrus (msg # 1):

Hi, and Welcome,

Advice?  I'd say really dig into the Help and FAQs and read.  RPoL has its own unique culture and etiquette.  There's lots in there about Mature and Adult Content, and about how things are done (and not done) here.  Might save you some headaches down the road.

When you get ready to post to a new forum, take a little time to review the Notices stickied to the top of the topic list.  Those usually spell out what goes on there.  That little bit of time up front can save you time on the back end.

There are several forums that stand out as places to get started:

Community Chat:  come hang out, get to know folks, and engage in some back-and-forth on a wide variety of topics.

Wanted - Players:  this is an advertising board for GMs to post existing games that are seeking players.

Wanted - GMs:  This is the converse of the previous advertising board.  Here players advertise for a GM to run a game they want to play.

Game Proposals, Input, and Advice:  Yup, here's where prospective GMs pitch proposals for games they are thinking about running to gauge interest.  (That's a great way to get in on the ground floor of a game that's just starting up.)  Folks can also solicit input on how to deal with problems or questions about in-game or other situations, and ask for advice.

There are lots of other places on RPoL, too, and lots to see and do here, so dig in and get you some!

I don't play much AD&D past 2e, myself, but know that you will find at least a game or two that suits your playing needs.

If you decide to run a game, dig into the GM Help, because the toolkit here is versatile, but comes with a bit of a learning curve.  We'll be around if you need help with getting a game started.

My pleasure.  I've made my share of mistakes starting out, so, yeah.  Just doin' my part.
