My best friend is a gal who does the heavy lifting between the two of us, and she's of two minds on the issue. She wants her avatar to be pretty, but not...I struggle to find a single adjective appropriate for the forums...scantily dressed, let's say. Sometimes she likes the boobplate, other times she prefers something more functional. Still sometimes she'll completely fall into appeal of what she calls cheesecake armor. It really varies, but overall the portrait, the face and hair, is really what draws her to an avatar. If she can find that, she'll just crop to selection and forget the rest.

Yeesh. I looked at some of that art and it's not bad per se`, but it completely misses the point of fantasy characters and reminds me why unrealistic but fun and sexy armor is still so prevalent. Because....it's more visually appealing.
