 | Corsairs Haven is an attempt at a fun romp inspired by the Golden Age of Piracy. It's focused on life on the island of Corsair's Haven, one of several pirate havens spread throughout the sea known as The Jeweled Embrace. In this world, three superpowers reign supreme. The Embria Sovereignty is a parliament of nations spanning every country within the northern continent. Their strong army serves as a phalanx wall to prevent invasion from their expansionist southern neighbor. To the south is a nation of islands, the Shalandar Empire, built through the expansionist traditions of the ruthless royal family. In the past, their navy harassed the shores of the Embria Sovereignty as well as their trade ships. In addition, blockades were used to prevent further exploration and expansion by the Sovereignty, forcing their northern neighbor to focus elsewhere. Now, their empire has begun to shrink and their navy is focused on the newest power. Between the north and south new power has risen in the form of the Grand Maritime Dominion. What started as a way to protect trade ships has become an independent power, funneling all its profits into a new breed of ship named "The Ship of the Line," behemoths so big they are cities unto themselves. They are unable of venturing into the shallow islands or approach continents, but be sure, they rule everything in between. The Dominion, or GMD, not only rules the sea between, they have taken several islands from the Shalandar Empire, including their crowning jewel, an island that became known as Corsairs Haven. |  |
