Personality Details:

Personality:  Madame Castità is a pacifist by nature and seeks compromise over conflict.  However, she understands that surviving in the world, especially the business world in Venice, requires determination and willpower.  Something she has a great deal of when necessary.  As such, she is not inclined to allowing people to walk all over her, especially those who deem her a member of the weaker, or simple-minded, sex.  She is good to her word and generally quite honest.  Preferring to suggest rather than say, use true but misleading statements, or simply change the subject rather than flat-out lying.  She is not above playing dumb or innocent or ignorant, or pretending not to be fluent in the language, if it serves her ends.  She is fair to her employees.  She does not mix business with pleasure.

Background/History:  Madame Castità arrived in Venice a dozen years ago from the East.  She is very clearly not from Venice, the Italian States, or even Europe.  She arrived with a fair amount of money and goods from the Orient, and even if the coins were of an unfamiliar cast, they were still silver and the goods marketable.  As such, she quickly assimilated into Venetian Society, purchasing and renovating a canal-front but dilapidated building down an alley in Cannaregio, hiring and training a number of Courtesans, and setting up the Lotus Blossom, a Club for the discriminating gentleman.

The Club has lounges, a card room, a library, a terrace overlooking the canal, a rooftop garden, a conservatory, and private rooms for private deeds.  There is some gambling available as well as rat baiting or other animal sports.  Food and beverages are available.  It is rumored that Madame Castità can put you in touch with shadowy figures who perform shadowy deeds but then there are lots of rumors about lots of people.

Little enough is known about Madame Castità's early life.  There is a story that her family perished during the journey, her father being a rich merchant from Peking or Shanghai.  if asked why she traveled thousands of miles, her only reply is 'opportunity.'
