IS there a way to add sound in a message?  Like if I wanted a link that someone could click on and hear a cricket chirping without the link taking them to another site.

There is not, sorry.  You would need to host the file somewhere and link to it in the post.

You could always let players know to do a wheel click or shift right to open in a new tab if they want to stay on the one they're on.

On Chrome, Shift+left click opens a link in a new window, Ctrl+left click opens it in a new tab.  I know that's not what you're looking for, but I thought it might be helpful.
