About the 'Edge of the Empire' dice roller

Hi!

A question about this roller: according to the game rules, a Failure can cancel the Success portion of a Triumph result. Similarly, a Success can cancel the Failure portion of a Despair.

Does the die roller take this into account? If one gets a result of "Dude rolled no successes, one Triumph using Edge of the Empire die roller", can he assume that the Success portion of the Triumph was cancelled, or no?

Thank you for any help you can offer. And if I'm in the wrong forum, please smack me and send me in the right direction.

Re: About the 'Edge of the Empire' dice roller

It was added based on this thread; link to a message in another game, and then further tweaked based on link to a message in another game.

Not sure if those threads will answer your question.

Otherwise test it by fudging the dice.  If you don't want to clog up your game dice log then you can create a game on the Beta Site for testing.

Short answer, yes. I helped with the final round of testing the dice to make sure of it. Everything matches the conversion table in the rulebooks, and conflicting results cancel each other properly.

In reply to jase (msg # 2):

I'm trying to get the proper syntax for posting links to set parameters for the Dice Roller using the Star Wars Edge of the Empire system.

[dicepool=1F,2A,2D memo="Test" text="Skill Check" system=swee]

I know I don't have the parameters right, but could you help me get them right?

Thank you so much in advance for your help.

/help/?t=faqs&page=rubbcode under the "How do I..." > "Put die roller links in posts and character sheets?" section.

Re: About the 'Edge of the Empire' dice roller

In reply to jase (msg # 6):

I consulted the die roller links section before posting here. There is some missing information users need to post dice roll parameters:
  • The system variable for Star Wars Edge of the Empire isn't listed there. I assume it's swee, but I don't know. The most recent list of dice system name and corresponding dice system variable list I could find was posted in 2011, before Edge of the Empire published.
  • The FAQ lists no variable name for the dice pool, which on the UI is how the user assigns the Star Wars dice names (e.g., 1F,2A,2D), rather than the dice= variable.  If I try to use dice=1F the link doesn't work.

I definitely appreciate your help.

Re: About the 'Edge of the Empire' dice roller

I managed to figure it out with View Source, and some playing around with URLs:

[dice=1d8 target=1A+2P system=swee memo="Rolling Piloting" text="Roll Something Fun" record=yes rc=233020]

You need to add dice=1d8 (or anything really so the URL will parse)
